Lakers Haven’t Worked Out Any 17th Pick Options.. Yet

what’s going on everyone so I’ve talked heavily about how I believe the Los Angeles Lakers trade the 17th pick in this upcoming draft and so far the evidence is kind of swinging more towards that way so the Lakers uh worked out for prospects and none of the prospects are guys anywhere close to the 17th pick a lot of the guys are based on mock drafts and stuff like that a lot of them aren’t even expected to be drafted and so the thing is like look I’m totally okay with trading the 17th pick right do it trade it if obviously if something’s there if you don’t just trade stuff just to trade stuff but if the Lakers really do find a deal to upgrade depth or go get that other star whomever that may be then do it right whatever you can do to get the the better more proven piece now right could you get lucky and hit somebody on 17 sure right I mean it happens but it’s also a crapshoot and a draft that is expected to be very thin and is even more of a a crapshoot than it is in other years right so now there’s always that outlier player right there’s always that guy that no one saw coming or you know the guy that becomes a star and you look back go man like that guy was the 15th pick or whatever right or the 17th pick in the Lakers case and there’s always that gem in the second round right the Lakers draft department has done a good job I’ve seen this like running Narrative of like the Lakers draft Department being terrible and like I don’t know where that came from right like I I know people are disappointed with the jayen hood shiino pick but one like he’s uh or just turn 20-year-old rookie that didn’t get to play and display his talents one way or another all the minutes that he did play were just total garbage time where there is no real structured basketball or anything and he’s just there to just basically kill the clock and Chuck up shots but you look at him in the G league and he completely tore up the G League now I get it’s the G league but again he’s a 20 y old rookie right I just don’t know how you can come to a conclusion on a player when we haven’t even seen him play in his rookie season right like think of how many I mean if yon if Giannis or Joker were looked at in their first people be like ah get rid of this guy like it’s just to me I believe it’s just a blatant overreaction and I get people see haime hakz you know see cam Whitmore but cam Whitmore fell because of injuries and character issues and Haw is people I don’t think people understand he’s already 23 going to be 24 next season like Jaylen Hino just turned 20 right so he could literally just develop for the next four years and be the age that haime hakes is right now so I don’t know I I just chances are the Lakers probably trade him regardless too but I just don’t know how you come to that conclusion and then you look at the rest of the league and it’s like Josh Hart Larry Nance Jr iaka zubba right you have I mean Jaden McDaniels the Lakers drafted uh DeAndre Hunter the Lakers drafted uh then you look at like um you know Julius Randle Brandon Ingram right Alex cruso Austin Reeves right I know they were uh undrafted but still like that was The Scouting Department going this guy’s really good right so again patience is key but to me if you can get the more proven guy like if you can turn the 17th pick in whatever else into a Deonte Murray I just I would rather you do that right because even if the player you draft eventually becomes Deonte Murray it’s going to be past this window more likely than not right so to me it’s just okay trade it but in the same breath it’s like I think you still got to do your due diligence right I think you still got to at least work guys out and kind of get a feel for guys because what if you are or you have to draft it right now even the Lakers do draft like let’s say they draft I don’t know Zack Edy right just use him as an example I think it’s very possible that he ends up getting traded later right so like even if the Lakers can’t find a deal on draft day you still have the entire off seon and then you got into the trade deadline so again I still think it’s very possible that even if the Lakers do draft somebody you that they end up shipping him out so don’t fall in love with anybody and even if the Lakers do draft the guy that you want don’t fall in love with that guy cuz he’s probably getting shipped out but I do think you still need to work guys out that you think may be there at around 17 I think you do need to again do your due diligence to put yourself in the best position possible in case a trade doesn’t fall through or what if or ends up falling through or what if uh you end up let’s say trading the the future picks like let’s say you do get a Zach Ed right and there is no deal at the moment and he goes and he looks like everything you want it to be right like what if you end up deciding hey I want to keep that guy let’s trade the the picks that we have uh you know in 2030 and stuff or 2031 and 20 uh 29 right and use those to go get a guy or two right and maybe now let’s say again just using the Zach Ed example let’s say you Draft Zack and now you don’t need that backup center what if he is cuz I do think he is in ba ready now question is can he operate at an NBA level right like you look at the skill sets you look at what he’s best at you look at his just Mammoth of a human species right he’s 74 with a 710 Wings span I mean he has all the tools that you look at and go man that guy man that guy could make some some noise and wreak some havoc and I do think he’s one of the guys that could make an impact right now not saying he’s going to be an Allstar near one and you know average 20 and 12 or or something but no I mean even if he just comes in and gives you know 10 and five or something cuz Anthony Davis is still going to play the bulk of the minutes if he can slot alongside ad right that’s the idea that’s the goal but if you end up getting that guy and he is just game Busters right out the league well then now that’s one less thing that you need to try to go get right if you get a Zach Edy maybe now you don’t need a valent chunez right maybe now you’re you’re using that that mid-level exception or something to go get another pie like maybe you’re getting you know a a perimeter guy or a wing or maybe you’re trading for you know an Alex Caruso or something right like to me there’s a lot of different possibilities and a lot of different outcomes that I think you need to be prepared for and now look it’s still early we still got like what three and a half weeks or something like that before the draft so it is very possible that the Lakers start doing their due dilig due diligence on the 17th pick as we get closer right this was just kind of the first wave of guys um but like like we’ve heard little rumors of Lakers like getting looks at various guys and all of them don’t seem to be 17 pick guys and even the guys that are rumored to be coming in next aren’t 17 pick material right they’re all 55 to undrafted now the 55th pick is I mean it’s about as close as you can get to being undrafted so I mean the Lakers could be looking at it it’s like hey maybe we take this guy with the 55th and then this guy we bring in on a two-way right so they’re just kind of looking for undrafted cuz the Lakers like that’s kind of been their bread and butter which again kind of goes back to the drafting thing where it’s like Lakers aren’t drafting in the lottery right they’re drafting mid to late first round and towards the back of the the second round so you’re trying to find those Diamonds in the Rough you’re trying to find those rooll guys that can maybe come in and and and just have some level of an impact right and especially if the Lakers end up doing everything that they want to do getting a star or upgrading their depth you’re going to need cheap just hustle Dirty Work guys and if you can find that in the draft and that then all the more power right like that’s even better so undrafted in the draft right Lakers need young athletic versatile players so if they can find that right and again we’re not in the room watching how some of these guys are are performing in their draft and they their draft uh combines right like but to me it’s like unless you already have a deal kind of like worked out and it’s kind of like you know the spit in the handshake and it’s like okay well we just got to wait till the draft and then we’re going to pull this off which they very well could I mean who knows right like we not in the we’re not with Rob pinka sitting down on the phones like we don’t know what kind of conversations have been had we don’t know what kind of process Rob’s gone through but I just I I I would would like to see at least a couple guys that they like at 17 that you could maybe work out even if you do plan on trading that pick it’s just to me it’s the it’s the fail Save Right like CU if you don’t trade the pick now what do you do now you’re scrambling and you’re like oh no now like just you know hey throw a dart on that board and see which one it lands on like I don’t want that like I want the Lakers to do what they’ve done best which is getting those rooll guys in the draft right they’ve done a really good job especially in the second round which I’m very high but to me it’s just like the Lakers draft department has just been A1 for like 10 years now and people are like doubting it because of jayen hood chafino like again we haven’t even seen jayen Hino like we don’t even know what he will be right we don’t we don’t know you know how many guys started out terrible and became great like you know how many guys kind of like just took a couple years get under their under their legs under them before they became something but it’s not every day that a 20-year-old is just taking over the league right I mean Anthony Edwards has been great since he came in but he wasn’t this right it took him a couple years to get there right and yeah he’s 22 but again Jaylen and I’m not saying Jaylen Nino is going to be that but you know again even if he’s just a quality just role guy like to me it’s just like be you got to be patient with these guys so many people are so quick to write it off cuz they’re seeing seen haime hawz tear it up with Miami and it’s like haime hawz might have not even played if he was a Laker like even if the Lakers drafted him like going into the off season we were looked at as like this incredibly deep team that how are you going to find minutes for guys like is Max Christie and Christian W or uh cam reddish gonna play and it’s like you think that those two guys you think haime hacky the rookie was coming in and Darin ham do you trust Darin ham to play that guy right draft like the team that drafts you is very impactful very important I mean look at Derek Jones Jr as a great example right he was a benchwarmer about to be out the league right I mean he just did an interview the other day where he was like d i I was thinking about taking my player option and just just to try to get another year and you know but then I just decided to bet on myself and now look now he’s one of the biggest pieces in uh Dallas going again position where you land right opportunity all those things matter right cam Whitmore at time couldn’t even crack the rotation in Houston for most of the time right he had some games some moments but for the most part he was just R in the pine right Hae Haw is same thing he was great he he started off kind of like in spot minutes and then they had injuries and all this stuff and then all of a sudden highe hawz got which he capitalized on so to highe hawz is credit you know you got to give him credit I mean it’s kind of a Austin Reeves situation last year where it’s like Austin Reed was just kind of getting spot minutes and then all of a sudden LeBron goes down and gets some injur injuries boom he comes in right it’s like oh wow okay hang on a minute so you know credit Hae hawkis but like you know they they they’re they’re a team like CU I see people talk about like Golden State right like and they’re like well the Warriors they ran two rookies and it’s like well yeah because they had to and all these teams finished worse than us right like and Miami finished fewer wins in the ath seed in the East right like with haime hakz playing heavy minutes like that’s cuz they had to they were desperate it’s a big difference that when you’re desperate and not desperate I’m just saying like you know again we can’t judge these guys right like we we don’t know we’ve seen plenty of guys Michael Carter Williams one Rookie of the Year and was looked at as the next I mean he nearly averaged a triple double was looked at as like the next star guard in the league where is he you know Anthony Bennett where is he he’s number one pick right like there’s so many times we’ve seen guys have incredible runs or be top pick and turn out to be nothing right turn out to they’re out The League by before the rookie contract is up right so again got to be patient with this but anyway my rant is over for those that stay till the end I appreciate you as always this is a discussion I pass question on you let me know your thoughts and opinions down in the comments below what do you think how do you feel what are your thoughts um do you like the idea of you know hey yeah do your due diligence even if you have a trade lined up because again the lake like let’s say the Lakers today no have it on on their whiteboard hey we’re trading for X right trading for this player 17 picks gone even if you do trades fall through all the time my thing is like you got to at least do your due diligence but we’ll see maybe it happens maybe it doesn’t love to hear thoughts and opinions either way whether they should whether they shouldn’t whether they maybe again I feel whatever thoughts I’d love to hear let me know down in the comments that being said if you haven’t liked this video hit that like button house manot you enjoy these types of videos and I truly appreciate it not subscribe Channel hit that Lakers have done several Draft workout and so far not one has been for the 17th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Lakers Nation wants a big man at 17 but without any Lakers News of worked out prospects it may not happen. Lakers Trade of the 17th pick is most likely but should still do their due diligence just in case any trade doesn’t happen or falls through.

  1. Why workout picks when you know you are taking Bronny at 17?? Every team is looking to trade out of this draft, few buyers.

  2. I am not sure if this is true but they have workeed out a handful of guys, mainly that may not be drafted. Ryan Dunn, Enrique Freeman, Bronny, Trentyn Flowers and a list of players that may go undrafted. Taran Armstrong, Armando Bacot, DJ Burns, Jermaine Couisnard, Kevin Cross, RayJ Dennis, Jesse Edwards, Tristan Enaruna, Blake Hinson, David Jones, Josh Oduro, Cormac Ryan, Payton Sandfort, Tyler Thomas and Tyler Thomas. Mainly undrafted workouts after Bronny.

  3. Lakers made big mistakes by not drafting Jason Taytum Fox and many others who looked and turned out to be stars ✨️ 😎 smh

  4. Can you make the video on Buddy Hield I seen a rumor yesterday him being linked to the Lakers

  5. Saying that Jaime Jaquez wouldn’t have gotten any minutes on the Lakers is just another example of your bias. Of course he would’ve gotten minutes, what small forward on the Lakers is better than him? Especially with all their injuries. Just admit the Lakers blew it by drafting Schifino.

  6. It the lakers u got to be ready to play now and I think we got to see what Christie is we can’t keep signing him to one yr deal this make a break for him idc bout the 17th I want third star and I we should trade a couple seconds and Gabe Vincent to Brooklyn for dfs I think we got to add wood to the deal but good wing 😊

  7. (Lakers will hit UDFA again) AC-AR15-Castleton! 2024?) All these haters just look at JHS and don't like Rob! Jesse buss is regarded by other execs as a genius!

  8. Summer league will be fun again! Colin Castleton will get his shot! He will be 100% on the team but for him he wants a reg spot and not a 2-way!,

  9. I don't see any value at the 17th pick that's why the sun's will likely pick up James jr. If Lakers don't.. just trade the 17th if we get another star! The fact that James only worked out with suns and Lakers says a lot!

  10. Cause they’re trading. But there are some names already mentioned in case they don’t trade that pick. Kel’el ware and Dayron Holmes II being some of them.

  11. I got a good trade. Draft Edey with no. 17 and trade him with Rui and Wood to Raptors for Poeltl, no. 19 pick, no. 31 pick, and/or future 1st. Raptors want to draft Edey. We get one of your favorite centers and picks to make a big trade

  12. You dropped some science with that break down of past draft picks! Can't think of any other team that has drafted as many quality players since 2017! Go Kuz!

  13. Lmao I’m gonna laugh so hard when the lakers draft the scrub bronny in the first round this is gonna be a circus 😂

  14. Darvin Ham saw him in practice and obviously wasn’t impressed. We use the term “open for a reason” when non shooters constantly find themselves open on the court. Maybe he’s sitting for a reason because if they thought he could help he’d have been playing. Ham would’ve found minutes for Jaquez Jr.

  15. Agree with u on jhs. He can play. We should keep him. In two years of at least 18-20 mins a game he would be a 10 and 6 guy with solid d and long arms. Need to keep him and max.
