How Brandon Ingram can TURN the PISTONS AROUND? He CAN’T come ALONE

Brandon Ingram may be more worth it for the Detroit Pistons than I gave them credit for initially and before I dive in deep on this I just want to say look I am somebody who takes the time to reflect to really think about people’s opinions even if I have strong opinions initially I’ll still take the time to think about it and I’ve had to come back around I said how does this even work right first I’m like I’m taking a walk and I’m thinking about it I’m like could they even put something around this team like Brandon n what is he he only plays 55 65 games a year that’s it that’s it he’s missing two-thirds of the Season every year so and Kade Cunningham’s not exactly the Iron Man of the of the NBA and you know Jaylen durren he isn’t either and so if I’m gonna give up Ivy Big Stew right draft Pi all this stuff like what is it really going to do for me and so I started looking into free agency and I’m just like well who could they really bring in and then a name popped up to me kentavius Caldwell Pope kcp NBA champion two times he won a championship with LeBron James in Los Angeles with the Lakers uh then you have him winning a championship with nicoa yic and the Denver Nuggets he’s a veteran about 32 years old looking for a big pay increase and I said to myself that may be a guy he’s one of those guys that as you notice with the Denver Nuggets who likely are not going to be able to overpay him he’s one of those guys to where he does so much for your team it’s hard to quantify it his ability to get out in transition and use his speed into to end and finish at The Rim his ability to catch and shoot as well as knockdown threes at a high level off the move Corner threes his reliability and consistency his ability to be a point of attack Defender he’s not the same level of point of attack Defender as he was when he was with LA but he still has that ability and he’s a veteran he knows winning he knows championships and he’s played with the Detroit Pistons when he started his career and Detroit is one of the top what five or six markets in the NBA he could be willing to come to Detroit for a pay increase a massive pay increase from his current 15 million um along with somebody like Brandon Ingram so then I started looking at this lineup and I said well okay you have Kate Cunningham kcp Brandon Ingram assar Thompson because you’re gonna need defense and then you have Jaylen durren it starts to kind of make a little sense you have your scoring you have your veteran leadership you have your understanding what it takes to win you’re still young you’re still talented but maybe you’re banking on talent that makes a little bit more sense and you have a little bit more balance with it now you’re still more than likely resigning Simone fio um and so you’re getting close to that salary cap right because he’s probably going to at least get about 15 to 18 million a year as a 6869 forward sniper who can also defend and rebound and get out of the transition even create off the dri like a poor man’s buan bogdanovich right and then you have James weisman’s contract I I I think he’s somebody you bring back because as a backup center you can do a lot worse and you can’t necessarily do that much better you probably don’t have the salary cap to try to steal um what’s his name away from the Brooklyn Nets right their Center um You probably don’t really care too much not too much of a upgrade to go grab a Mason Plumley or Cody Zeller you know and you probably not going to spend a lot of money on a yonas valencias right who’s a starting NBA Center when you already got Jaylen Duren and so wisan makes sense to bring back but then you got other guys you want to fill in that kind of forward veteran position and so two guys two two names that came up was Tobias Harris and uh Jeff Green now Jeff Green is with the Houston Rockets he’s used to the rebuild right and he’s a veteran he’s not somebody you’re bringing in to rely upon heavily but he’s going to play a solid role for you and then you’ve got Tobias Harris who I don’t know if he’s going to take the step back from winning um however you’d have to probably overpay him a little bit as well may or may not be worth it but then when I think about that you have the team option for Quinton Grim still and you still have Marcus Sasser it begins to look not quite as Bleak you got shooting you got defense you got playmaking you have some pieces and so more and more that I began to look at this team I began to say well then what this type of a roster what does this do for this team how good does this make them and so I started to run through the Eastern Conference and I said to myself well does it make them better than the top so let’s look at Boston no this is easy Milwaukee no does it make them better than uh Philadelphia no IND no no too much continuity too good of coaching sorry um he’s Kate isn’t there yet uh are they better than New York probably not no uh are they better than the Miami Heat I think there’s an argument for it if both sides are healthy I still think Miami is better especially with uh haime haakas ution um when they’re healthy yeah Miami still probably better so you got Boston Philly New York Indiana you got Milwaukee you got Miami that’s six teams that are better than you and then you start looking at teams like the Orlando Magic can you catch them uh I don’t know Cleveland not as long as they have Donovan Mitchell in that current roster they’re still going to be better than you so that’s seven seven teams that are going to be better than you you’re probably likely looking at at best if everything goes right in eighth seed okay okay let’s play with it are they better than Chicago arguable I can see it Charlotte yeah Washington okay uh are they better than Atlanta um they’re going through a lot of turnover Jaylen Johnson’s probably gonna be a lot better next year probably still have Trey young or Deonte Murray uh it’s arguable but they’re going to be in that thick of it right so a maybe Toronto maybe maybe and I think you’re going to be in the thick of it and this is where you’re playing conversation begins you have Orlando you’re G to have Toronto you’re G to have Chicago and then now Detroit now don’t get me wrong Washington is still going to be good Atlanta is still going to be good so if things don’t break right for you you can still miss the playin Al together maybe end up like uh Houston Rockets this past season and you’re a few games out of the play in and maybe that’s success for you but you gotta answer me this does that make you any better than where you would have ended with this current rendition of the roster now if everything goes right you might be a number eight seed let’s say you get out of the playin and you’re an eighth seed probably first round exit to the Boston Celtics or Philadelphia or Milwaukee or New York right but maybe that’s worth it for you I think best case scenario with this current roster you make the play in and so there’s a higher ceiling with the Brandon Ingram kcp but something else that I began to consider is I also said to myself well there was another story of a number one draft pick that a team in the same division of the Detroit Pistons tried to quickly move things forward with and that was LeBron James and they tried to bring in a bunch of guys who were at their Prime maybe a little bit past it maybe not the most reliable right and he ended up never being able to get to where he wanted he could not see himself consistently competing at the top but then something I said to myself is well but Jaylen durren is here and assar Thompson is still here I really like Marcus Sasser still and Quinton Grimes and I think James wisman might still continue to ascend and develop Simone fio as well and Brandon Ingram is still under 30 about what 28 I believe 26 28 so I said it’s a better situation than what LeBron had because you had young Talent that’s still growing with him now this is the caveat you’re going to be a potential playin team and after you extend Cade this off season you’ll have Brandon Ingram who will need that Max extension in two years and you’ll have kyp’s contract fek you will get 15 to 18 million and then you’ll have guys like Quinton Grimes more on the peripheral but you’re going to be at or above the salary cap so you’re going to be in the tax as a playing team is that something that Tom Gore the owner is g to want to do maybe maybe he’s here for it and maybe he sees in two years right next year the Ascension that Kade makes I could see with more veterans around him he becomes a top 15 player and Jaylen durren as well I think it’ll really help to have a highlevel playmaker like a Brandon Ingram along with a cade Cunningham um playmaking for him running pick and rolls and hitting the big shots taking the big shots leading better in the locker room having those voices the allstar the champion um to really guide the way and and I would not be mad at that but I will say this bringing in Brandon Ingram alone is not going to change the trajectory of this team bringing him in with other veterans leaders guys who know how to play winning basketball that you will have to overpay for could be worth it could be worth it and it doesn’t detract from the amount of talent that you’re losing I love Isaiah Stewart I I I really I’ve come around on jayen Ivy I could really appreciate his talent and Brandon Ingram might be worth it if you bring in a bunch of other guys with them but with that I want to know what you all think get at me in the comment section like subscribe share the video um talk about it with your friends in the group chat ask them what they think and holl at me in the comment section you know I’mma definitely respond and we can chop it up there I’mma talk to y’all later peace

  1. KCP is not coming back to Detroit. Nuggets are rumored to trying to resign him. Overpaying role player is not good practice.

  2. I feel like in a couple years Detroit is gonna blow up again, and restart. The team we have now is gonna end up like the 2016 lakers. Dlo, Julius Randal, Jordan clarkson, Brandon Ingram were all on that team and they went 17-65. Slightly different situation but the second they all split up they were phenomenal the second they landed on new teams. That’s gonna happen with Ivey, Cade, Ausar, and Duren

  3. I feel like the same package that gets them B.I. would also be a package (including cap relief for the other team) that Minn. would consider for K.A.T.
Which one would you rather have?

  4. If the choice is being a play in team near the cap, and winning less than 20 games while the young guys get another year closer to their contracts being up, give me the play in.

  5. I would love to see a starting 5 of Cade/Pope/Ingram/Fontecchio/Duren next season. Langdon would still need to upgrade the bench, but that would be a quality starting lineup.
