Scotty Pippen was arguably one of the best two-way players in the NBA but despite being one of the Premier defensive players in league history the 67 forward never won the defensive player of the year award during an appearance on trash talk production the host told pip that the biggest Injustice in the NBA was him never winning the dpy award and then suggested that the voters could have been drunk I think they were too busy watching Michael the legendary forward reply Pippen taking a shot at Michael Jordan wasn’t a surprise after all that interview happened in 2022 feeling ignored by the Last Dance documentary Scotty has said nothing good about his former Bulls teammate however blaming Mike for not winning one dpoy award may be one of his more ridiculous claims after all MJ wasn’t around in ‘ 94 and 95 but Pippen finished fourth to hakee elij one in ’94 and second at the Kamp Matumbo in 95

Since the inception of the award, Tim Duncan is the greatest defensive player to never win the award. Scottie was probably the second. But, my question is who is he winning the award over? Who are you taking it away from? People act like there are multiple participation awards to be handed out because a guy was one of the best in a particular field. Saying Scottie or Timmy D should have won the award is like saying Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, and Karl Malone should have won a championship… duh. They should have… but they didn’t!!!
Scottie is elite defense… no doubt. But he is not one of the greatest “two-way” players. No one can defend him as anything but average on offense at best.

OK, let's get this straight: you had Mutombo, Olajuwon, Payton, Ewing, Rodman and Shaq who were all better defenders and the stats don't lie. Pippen was good. Top 10, but not DPOY caliber which is why even in 94, when Jordan wasn't playing, he ranked 6th or 7th in DPOY voting. Again, that's elite just not quite the very best and is unrelated to favoritism for anyone else. This is getting embrassing.
This is a stretch. He deserved it. This is one of those things scottie is right about.
