    I commented in yesterday’s thread about it, but here are my thoughts on The Acolyte:

    I’ll still watch the whole damn thing but… meh. It’s boring, predictable, looks low budget, and has a weird Disney Channel vibe that I can’t put my finger on.

    I was not impressed with the fight choreography. Felt very slow and deliberate

    The sets were cramped. The coolest thing about Mando S1 was their use of “The Volume” soundstage. It turned into a crutch though and now The Acolyte is hobbled by it. One of the best things Andor did was avoiding the use (or at least blatant use) of it. Everything in The Acolyte feels like it’s on some sort of soundstage.

    The cast is just not delivering. I haven’t met one believable or personable character yet.

    The costumes look good, so that’s a plus. And I loved seeing a bunch of aliens.

    Late in yesterday’s thread, a few folks talked about how “fun and bad” is okay but “boring and bad” is just the worst. Right now this show’s sitting at “boring and bad.”

    I wasn’t impressed with the beginning of Andor, and Ahsoka took a while but got good late in the season (or at least “fun and bad”) so I’ll keep watching this one. ~~Rebellions~~ viewership is built on hope

    What I’ve been doing the last week

    **Games**

    I finished **Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II**. For those curious, it took me about 7 hours to complete, and I was sprinting for most of the game. While it sort of stumbles through the second act, I think the first and third were pretty great in terms of the type of game it is– a walking simulator with insanely good graphics. It definitely feels like the gameplay took a step back from the previous one, but it was probably a choice they made to focus on the visuals. If you played the original, definitely check it out. Otherwise I’m not so sure.

    I also started playing the soulslike **Another Crab’s Treasure**. A cute, fun romp through the ocean floor. The shell mechanics are actually a neat spin on the worn-out formula, although I do wish you could get other weapons as well. It seems like a pretty short romp (~15h) so we’ll see if I stick with it. There’s some really funny and interesting ways the game incorporates the themes of the game– [check out this boss’s](https://streamable.com/l7tnj7) killer move.

    I’ll probably start up **Jedi Survivor**, since I beat the first one a while ago. My hopes aren’t very high, but we’ll see. I always wished they would just either lean into the souls aspects or lean into the action aspects, instead of clunkily bouncing back and forth between them.

    **Watch**

    I’m now four episodes into the second season of **Invincible** and I am happy to inform you that *this shit still slaps*. Episode 4 completely caught me off guard, and I’m excited to see where things go from here.

    I’m also revisiting **Kill Bill**, finishing part 1 last night. This was a cult favorite of little teenage lurk, and it’s really interesting to finally come back to it after all these years and see what still holds up. It’s funny how I remember being drawn (ahem) to the animation of Chapter 3 when I was younger, but now I can really appreciate how fucking rad that was. Tarantino is the ur-weeb.

    I did just watch The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and stayed up way too late. That movie was amazing though and worth it.

    I thought Squatch was good on the radio, even if between the hosts all talking over eachother and all the commercials it must be hard to get a word in edgewise. I definitely hope he makes another appearance on SMHpod or whatever where he can actually get comfortable a bit and elaborate on stuff.

    Anyone wanna be Liberty WNBA fans with me? I chose them because my former roommate is on their male practice squad, and I have a lot friends in NYC who will go to games when I visit. Pros: They threatened to blow a 17-point lead last night. At one point late in the game they had 6 bench points. It felt just like our beloved Nuggets season that ended too soon!
