Lakers Drafting REBOUNDING MACHINE Center Armando Bacot? | Lakers Workout A. Bacot & David Jones!

[Music] welcome back everyone with the Lakers officially having two draft picks in the upcoming 2024 draft with one of them in each round there is a wide range of players they could take and well that means they have to do plenty of research now they might end up trading one if not both their draft picks but even without them they could still pick up a player or two whether that be with them buying a draft pick with cash which they have done before by the way or with them simply picking up an undrafted player after the draft ends there are plenty of ways for them to find talent and with every NBA team having three two-way contracts now that has made finding undrafted Talent more important than ever before I mean you never know when you might find another Austin Reeves and if you don’t do your research primarily through draft workouts then you are likely not able to find that kind of player and with that in mind the Lakers have brought in a group of guys that are likely TI either going drafted or taking in the very late second round AKA guys that are likely end up on two-way contracts and according to Adam zagoria the Lakers brought in Armando Bott of North Carolina rayj Dennis of Baylor David Jones of Memphis and then Tyler Thomas of Hofstra all four of which were in college for at least four total years and although they might not be projected first round draft picks I definitely would keep them in mind because again they could be likely candidates for late second round draft pick where the Lakers currently own pick number 55 by the way or maybe a two-way contract instead which the Lakers do have a couple of them to hand out and in my opinion two of the aention names will be really intriguing for that the first of which being Armando Bott of North Carolina and then the other one being David Jones of Memphis and we are going to break down the game of each of them during today’s video but before we get too far into it don’t forget to check out prize picks but your NBA knowledge to attest during the NBA finals and if you have been waiting for a good time to get started then now would have to be the perfect time they are giving out a no- branded promotion where you can pick Jason Tatum to have more or less than 0.5 points in game one and I don’t know about you guys but I one will be taking the more on that one and if you want to follow along with me I’m combining that pick with two other NBA picks in game one with drik Lively having more than 0.5 assists along with Kyrie Irving having more than 3.5 assists but if you are looking to make your own picks then be sure to check out prize picks and don’t forget to use code JSM to get a bonus in your first deposit but without further Ado let’s dive right into it and we’ll Begin by talking about arando Bott if you’re not familiar with his game Bea is a 5-year college player from North Carolina where he racked up a lot of accolades including him being four-time all ACC the all-time leading rebounder at North Carolina their alltime leader in double doubles Al leading the entire conference and rebounding for three years straight and in all three categories too it doesn’t matter if we’re talking about offensive rebounding defensive rebounding or total rebounds he let all three for 3 years straight pretty damn impressive and well that is what he became known for being a dominant en force from on the rim he was a great low poost scoring threat a tremendous offensive rebounder and then a pretty good rim protector as well which would have likely made him a lottery pick about 10 to 15 years ago however we are now in the year 2024 and with him not being able to shoot from three nor being able to effectively switch on defense that will make him fairly Limited in the modern NBA though there is still a time and place for a traditional big and not only that but bacock claims to be working on both his three-point shooting and ability to move his feet on defense and him being able to improve in either category can make him a late round steal though we can only evaluate what he has shown us so far and up until this point he has primarily only been effective around the rim both on offense and defense too and beginning with offense Armando Bon is a talented low post scoring threat but again that likely won’t matter that much in the NBA I mean there are maybe five guys around the league that team runs their offense through in the low post and only two or three of them have the offense run through them full time which does not vote well for a guy like Armando Bott or even SA e on offense what they will have to do is find a way to be effective in other ways primarily through pick and role play along with offensive rebounding too and well that something that B can do again he is the all-time leading rebounder at North Carolina and then for his pick and role play a fair amount of his scoring came through exactly that now he definitely won’t be gting the same amount of post touches that he got in college but the pick and role play will likely be going up and with him being a great screener although being a good finisher around the rim that could be a role that he plays very well within I for one don’t think it’ll be a problem and then there’s very little doubt about him being able to handle the physicality of the NBA in fact he’ll likely be more physical a wide majority of current bigs the only question here will be his Mobility on defense again he was a fairly good rim protector in college averaging about a block and a half per game over his 5-year college career but with the NBA being a lot more space orientated he will have to prove that he can keep up and that’ll really be the only issue for him I mean that could be the difference in him being a backup or being a long-term starter and I’m sure he would like to be the lad though even without that I still think there could be a place for him in the NBA and in my opinion he is kind of a mix between former college teammate and current Brooklyn Net Deon sharp and then 12year NBA V and former Laker Andre drumman both of which are a bit limited on defense but they come off the bench and have a regular role with an NBA team primarily through making a difference for their dominant rebounding alone with both them averaging over 15 rebounds for 36 minutes and that is why I could see our Bott doing as well which could make him well worth a two-way contract if not even a late second round draft pick in my opinion but now moving on to the other guy that I mentioned with that being David Jones a two-way Wing player out of Memphis and one that is coming off of averaging nearly 22 points about eight rebounds over two steals per game and then shooting 38% from three I mean I really don’t understand how he is not getting more draft type his stat line of points Steals and rebounds alone have not been replicated since Zan Williamson in 2019 really telling you about the year that he had for Memphis and not only that both with how much he has to offer an NBA team too even if you don’t believe in his three-point shooting ability which I think would have to be the primary question about him the guy is a really good Defender a verse style offensive player and then probably the best rebounding Wing in the entire draft now I’m not sure I call him Josh Hart but I do think there’s similarity between them with both them having an obvious nose for the ball and always seeming to be in the right place at the right time on the court with happing especially too for their defense and rebounding he kind of reminds me a little bit of the Anthony Melton as well a slightly undersized Wing that is very committed defensively although being a passing Lane pest as again he grabbed over two steals per game during his senior year of college although I think he is significantly more talented offensively than either one he is great at getting to the rim where about 40% of his shots came from and they can finish around the rim in a variety of ways both in the half court and full-court setting too and he really did everything for the Memphis offense when whether is with him being their primary ball handler running the pick and roll for them or even being a spot up shooter he really did help for their team and I think that last part will be the most important one in the NBA like I mentioned before I think the only thing holding him back from being a guaranteed draft pick is three-point shooting now it might not look like it with him having a great three-point shooting year during his senior year but up until that point he had never shot above 30% from three which I think is scaring teams away from a 23-year-old four-year college player but in my opinion we simply cannot Overlook what he did during his senior year he took more three-point shots than ever before and then made more of them at a more efficient rid as well shooting 38% for three Al ranking in the 87 percentile when it came to spot up shooting and if he could do that in the NBA then he could become a legit 3 and D Wing from day one and well that would make him more than worth their 55th overall draft pick which I for one would be more than open to using on him but with all of that being said what do you guys think how do you feel about Amando Bott and David Jones do you think they’ll be a good second round draft pick or maybe a good addition for a two-way contract let me know your thoughts in the comments down below that will do it for this video though big thank you to those of you 1. Def think they need to decide there plan with the two ways they have on roster now would love to see mays get non guaranteed deal but seems they don’t have a plan for Giles

  2. If we aren't trading the draft picks (all 3) to get the best piece(s) possible to help LBJ/AD, then I hope Bron leaves. It's WIN now time, if Rob doesn't get that then… ✌✌✌

  3. Great breakdown on these two prospects! Hard to believe Bacot might not even be drafted being a top 10 college player.

  4. They are drafting Bronny at 17 just watch I don’t know how Lakers fans can’t see what’s happening around them, especially when JJ was confirmed before they even looked at other coaches 😂

  5. welcome back what again? what do you call your YT viewers? sorry, just couldn’t figure out what you’re saying

  6. Lakers have 2 problems:
    1. they are cheap…don't want to pay people
    2. they want 2 HIGH-PRICED stars and 12 guys who got cut from all their previous teams to save money. !!!

  7. Yo this one of my favorite channels I like how different and unique everything broken down the way JSM do the videos keeps me entertained and informed at the same time

  8. David Jones seems legit. Its much easier to teach shooting, than it is defensive instincts & motor.
