The Brooklyn Nets aren’t interested in trading Mikal Bridges for the No. 3 pick. Instead, they prefer to build around him and attract another star to Brooklyn, per @basketballtalk

“The Nets have been consistent in saying they are hoping to use Bridges as a lure to bring another star to Brooklyn and build from there. They are not trading him for the No. 3 pick in this draft. Nice try, though, Houston.”

Cam Thomas get ready to learn Clevelandnese.

The nets have to make Houston think they are planning on trying to compete so they feel that the picks they hold don’t have incredible value. They will therefore be incentivized to trade them back to the nets. If Houston believed that they were shopping bridges, Houston would want to hold onto the picks because they would go up in value.

So they plan to add 2 superstars around him? Cause this doesn’t make sense any other way…building around bridges is asinine if they think he is a tier 1 player 😆

Building around a 3rd option is like owning a piece of plywood and saying you are building a house. Cool it’s needed but do you have the 100k+ for additional materials?

This draft class sucks, flip Bridges for the 2025 swap and 2026 pick.

On a completely unrelated note; more just general NBA news. Why is Lauri not getting spoken about the same way Donovan is. Don’t get me wrong Donovan>Lauri. But, they’re both expiring all stars at this moment in time. Lauri would move the needle for every contending team, would he cost less too if he said he wasn’t going to re-sign? 7ft, 50% FG, 40% 3P, could argue teams need a Lauri more than a Donovan?

Good. They made the decision not to take 2024 picks at the deadline and they should be sticking to that

“Build around” sounds dumb. “Build next to” or “build above” sounds better. He did not look good as a key player last year. Maybe he was just tired. Maybe he had nagging injuries. He is definitely not a #1 and probably not even a #2 guy. But he’s a solid piece.

He’s not getting traded. The question is who will be the other star? I don’t see Donovan Mitchell being traded. If they could get Trae Young, or Dearon Fox that I would be nice.

So basically they will be the same ever since trading Durant and Kyrie. Gotcha.

*Mods* – please considering sticky-ing this post.

*Commenters who have been here since before 2019 when there were less than 4,000 subscribers* – carry-on.

*Gen-Z commenters* – Go find a safe space.

*Casual commenters* – I’m going to say this loudly enough so that the people in the back can hear it too. Stop offering the Phoenix picks to Houston in your hypotheticals. When a player isn’t available in a trade and an organization repeatedly shoots down offers for him, the team who calls HAS TO OVERPAY for him if they want him.

  12. So you’re saying water is wet and grass is green…… It’s gonna be a long offseason

  13. Im not even a Mikal hater but who tf our front office think he is ?

Kelly Iko (Rockets insider) also reporting HOU isn’t interested in trading for Bridges. I wonder if it was a mutual thing or if one party shot it down entirely and they’re both claiming it was from their end.

  15. 1. We know that Houston don’t want that pick. They got enough young talent already.

    2. NetsDaily reported that DFS being shopped around. OKC and Memphis expressed interest. Picking player like Stephon Castle at 9 or 12 will be great value. From what I heard, he wants to play PG. At 6’6 ft and being athletic freak with above average D, he will be great fit next to CamT. Guy reminds me of Russ Westbrook in working. Bigger question will be, can he develop that jumper.

    3. I think we sleeping on Broke Back Ben Simmons. His expiring contract already attracted Bulls. If they willing to give up unprotected 2025 pick to dump LaVine here… I’m starting to worm up to that idea. Man I don’t care about Zack and his broken legs. I will cheer for Bulls to give us top 5 pick. Flag, VJ, Baily, Traore or Harper is who I want. Anyone of them along side CamT will be wet dream for me. Than we can start talking about some real stuff. We be talking about perennial contention.

    4. If Houston will budge and give us 2025 unprotected pick back. I will send them Midkal in no time. Will roll unstoppable tank out and get me top 5 pick. Can’t really go wrong with any of them kids. Imagine Cooper Flag on this team. That’s Chet Holmgren 2.0
