Joe Mazzulla when asked about handling the brightness of the lights: “Yeah, I mean, unless they changed the lightbulbs in the arenas, they won’t be any brighter than they were in the last series”

Technically correct, the best kind of correct

  2. NotFabMelo

Joe said the lumen output in Gainbridge Fieldhouse is way too high.

  3. Joe Mazzulla the kind of guy who would answer “The Moon” when asked “What’s up?”.

People working at AAC facilities have a busy week ahead of them!

I’m so proud to call this nut our coach lol

  7. There’s only 2 types of Mazzulla response, and you can never predict which one you’re going to get.

You could’ve just as easily gotten “I Go Hard Joe”, with something like “I’ve been practing coaching in tanning beds for the past 12 years… Only mushrooms are scared of the light.”

And then he had Payton Pritchard get on Brown’s shoulders to measure the height of the rims

The real reasons people who don’t hate the Celtics outside of “they’re from Boston” should root for the Celtics this finals: Joe’s press conferences the year after winning a championship will all be amazing.

“Joe, why do you think the team lost to Indiana tonight? Do you think it was due to lack of effort?”

“Why did my car start tonight? Will it still start tomorrow? I believe I could outrun a car in the right situation, does that mean the car lacks effort?”

This could all be some perfectly crafted comedic persona and we would never know lol

Can you imagine being this guy’s kid? Dude trying to teach a lesson 24/7

  12. Jokes aside, this was a good answer and I think helpful perspective on how Mazzulla coaches. It was the same sentiment as the “nut up and do shit that you don’t want to do” comments.

Mazzulla’s not the kind of coach who’ll pull out an esoteric play or invent a new pick and roll defense that no one’s tried before. Even the Celtics offense is simple, high screen and rolls to get players into isolation matchups. He’s trying to get his guys very good at playing the fundamentals of the game and will let the rest figure itself out from there.

when you lose to the heat like u did last year i think the celtics in general probably feel like “well, it cant be worse than that”. in a good way

  14. I feel most of the commentators here didn’t watch the clip lol… he says that, and the remainder of the clip is a real answer

  15. Afraid-Department-35

Mazulla handles the media very well with a lot of reverse uno cards

  16. _Tar_Ar_Ais_

Joe Mazulla will start quoting Ashrae 90.1 and discuss W/ft^2 of the arena lighting and push for more efficient and cooler bulbs smh

LOL… this guy… no time for this shit! 💩

  18. The lights DO get brighter. Early oughts, I used to go to a lot of Nets games. No problem getting tickets for the first 3 rounds of the playoffs. But the Finals? Impossible. Because rich folks/celebrities fly in from all over the country. So instead of just Jay-Z and Beyonce (who were regulars), now you’re playing in front of half of your favorite musicians, people like Brad Pitt or whoever – and some players get shook. Not to mention there’s like 10x as many media outlets, as press from all over the world covers the games. And yes, way more cameras, so literally way more light!

But the Jays and Drue have been here before – maybe a bigger problem for the Mavs – will be up to Kyrie to keep them calm.
