can do I’ll see what I you got you got to watch winning time winning time is official winning time phenomenal and clip is just as good C good clip is about the Donald Sterling uh V stano situation it’s they they they built a minseries off of the uh podcast that shelburn did uh a handful of years ago to lay this out so you it it’s and it’s star studed well you might not recognize everybody but you know Lawrence Fishburn Lawrence Fishburn is in it Ed O’Neal plays Donald Sterling anybody else I don’t think so I don’t there’s no one else well you know Lavar Burton he’s in it oh yeah Reading Rainbow he’s in it um I just I mean the chance to see Doc Rivers and Elgen Baylor bump into each other in the produce section of the grocery store is just spectacular why doc I guess is trying to figure out what type of milk to buy it’s it’s amazing Cleopatra Coleman that’s who plays v v stano never job like she presented herself as a like she came across borderline sympathetic Yeah well yeah yeah okay shell comes off bad to me Shell Shell I’m so annoyed by her okay so it’s got Corbin burnson in it all right who’s cor La law he also is oh he’s the lawyer yeah yeah I know who that is he’s he’s the lawyer okay yeah and Rich summer was on uh madman uh I don’t know who he is in in I think he’s uh he’s the assistant and I’m I’m not I I I actually believe I’ve never watched madman but I think he’s the the really uh highr strong assistant got it and what was Clifton Davis in like I know Clifton Davis oh he was in amen but what else is Clifton oh that’s a phenomenal knowledge by James he was that is great I never even knew his name but yes that is great knowledge by James James was he also in was he in 227 as well that’s possible okay getting invited to the cookout after this conversation James called from from amen that is great knowledge wow I’m trying to think what else he’s in like I I’ll look up his IMDb in the show with Benson the guy who played Benson no it’s with uh it’s with with uh Jefferson’s um hermit uh like Sherman helsley yeah Sherman Hensley yeah oh okay and they were they owned a church or he was a pastor of a church or something like that that’s right that’s right that’s right that’s right yeah and I think Clifton Davis is like the good-look priest that all the ladies Swoon over yeah he was in amen that’s my mama um what my husband I don’t even know what the rest of that I can’t tell you how much I bugged out when I found out that’s my mama was a real because I always remember it from the from the line with sexual chocolate oh America oh no Coming to America Sexual Chocolate everybody Sexual Chocolate yeah yeah where he says y’all might remember him from the uh something something episode of that’s my mama man James dropping an amen and a 227 reference was not something I was prepared for today clip this clip man I have I have been known to watch television shows since a very young age like yeah my knowledge of Television yeah uh it’s it’s it’s deep I I can go deep with this stuff well that’s gonna get a flag every time sir every single time that’s gonna get you a flag yeah where’s Jesse at where’s Jesse at I I God I know I was going to make a point about Brandon Ingram and man oh it was my fault I mentioned the um uh a spectacular move by Michael Jordan it was the anniversary of that but there’s obviously a lot of we’ll just bring this to the to the group here there’s obviously a lot of conversation around Brandon Ingram right now as it pertains to either Sacramento but really as it pertains to the entire league there were reports earlier this week that New Orleans might be hesitant to offer or New Orleans is hesitant or perhaps even unwilling to offer Brandon Ingram Max contract extension and I think combining that with David Griffin’s remarks you think okay clearly for in in and and probably because of the contract situation they’re gon to put a lot of this on Ingram’s shoulders and they’re going to feel like he’s maybe the best piece that we can move to take the steps forward that we need to take like New Orleans isn’t going to attempt to blow this up like New Orleans is going to attempt to get better but there’s a second layer to this and perhaps in New Orleans case it’s the first layer that I didn’t really think about and it’s the financial aspect of all of this despite the you know as much fun as we have with the cap going up and the you know the the 76 billion doll on their way in from these new TV deals which I’m sure will be announced soon there’s there’s still first aprons second aprons and tax penalties which a team like New Orleans Who David Griffin has acknowledged this isn’t it they’ve got to adjust to and a Brandon Ingram contract puts them in a pretty difficult financial situation and I wonder and I bring that up because I wonder we look at where New Orleans is right now man I feel like if they can’t take a step forward and I’ve been honest about how I feel like the Western Conference Finals might have demoralized my view on them this might be the future of the Minnesota Timberwolves yeah look at all of the money that they’re spending and it’s like we’re not championship team we can’t start paying you know $10 million in tax penalties that become $30 million in tax penalties and not win a title yeah I would say the difference that I see between like Minnesota and New Orleans is New Orleans has a lot of question marks whether it’s injuries or it’s like I I don’t know like players that are up and coming like the reason why they’ll trade Brandon Ingram is because they want to improve and they see that they have another young player in in Murphy that’s that’s coming up and and is going to take his spot and they can’t spend the money on both and one of them is going to be way cheaper because he’s on his first extension versus Ingram who’s on a second extension so I think that’s part of it when you relate it to Minnesota I think Minnesota the problem that Minnesota has is they were built to beat Denver right but Denver wasn’t in the West Conference Finals so the fact that they were able to beat Denver is great but they didn’t beat Denver in the Western Conference Finals because they weren’t around and so if you build a team with Rudy goar who can defend uh nicoa yic and and can at least give resistance and doesn’t get played off the court that’s fine but it’s got to be deep enough in the playoffs because a lot of the other teams in the league they can play your your best defensive player right off the court and they can really put in an awkward situation the one difference I I I really think with with Minnesota is that Anthony Edwards has like two giant leaps he can still take a and not just become like statistically way better but then to take that next step where he’s just an incredible you know allaround dominant player that comes uh to every game with his hard hat on and it’s just so difficult to beat so they have room for growth I also think like McDaniels can grow uh can be a better player I think NS Reed can still still has time to get better you’re just caught in the middle here between the goar situation and then of course Mike Connelly getting older and how long can Mike Connelly hold on and be competitive that’s what I think the Pelicans are different the Pelicans remind me a little bit of of the Atlanta Hawks where they just keep compiling like really nice talent but they don’t play that well together and then they can’t avoid injury and you know they just kind of Peter out with before they should so I’m intrigued to see what happens with with New Orleans if they are fully trying to save a whole bunch of money that’s much different than if they’re trying to reset their roster in a different way and so like in one way I could see them trading Brandon Ingram for Jared Allen uh to Cleveland and that would work for Cleveland it would work for them because they’re going to lose they’re likely going to lose Valen chunis and then you know away they go with a different type of Team um that’s what the Kings should hope doesn’t happen that you know like the door stays open for someone else to come in and whether it’s the Kings uh by themselves or the Kings with another team be able to come in and and give a different type of offer uh than than what they could get from Cleveland H real quick about like building building your team to take down Denver or so whatever team is you’re trying to take down do did this whole Western Conference playoffs come come down to matchups I was talking to one of my buddies about that the other day and he was just like every team in the in the playoffs had a team that they couldn’t beat and every team in the playoffs had a team that they could dominate if that made any sense like except for well New Orleans did but the team that they could dominate were the Kings but outside of outside of New Orleans feels like every team had a a Kryptonite type of team that they couldn’t beat no matter how good they were is that how the whole Western Conference looks to be playing itself out right now moving forward yeah I don’t know if it’s moving forward but certainly this season it felt like a giant game of like R Shambo right Rock beat Beats uh beats scissors scissors beats paper paper beats Rock that’s what it feels like it feels like there’s a there’s a team that that you can’t get that every single one of these teams could not get past and I think at the end it became like Dallas is almost like again the matchup with Minnesota is perfect for them because they they played goar off the court so many times and if they Minnesota sat there and tried to fight it and left Gober out there he just got eaten alive and it’s just really tough to play that team I thought that Minnesota would give would give them a better you know series I I really did because I I really didn’t think they had anyone that could totally slow down um Anthony Edwards but you know Derrick Jones Jr like they had some guys that did a good job um but overall yeah I’ve been saying that for a while Kenny I do believe that that this was just a weird matchup and you know if the Kings face anyone else in the playin game I I think that they’re probably in the playoffs you know I do I think that they had a really good shot at being in the playoffs I also think that you know if they would have matched up with someone like OKC in the first round who knows they easily could have made the second round and then what happens in the second round and what happens in the third like you don’t know um I didn’t feel like this Kings team was was good enough at the end of the season because of the two injuries but again if if you could have made it to the first round maybe Midway through the first round you might have got Malik bunk back and next thing you know they could have been a much different team and and they could have made some noise so I think it’s it’s really really interesting how this whole entire playoff kind of worked out how different do you think the off season is if that happens um I think it doesn’t feel the same way I I mean because that’s all we’re talking about because I don’t think this is a championship team I don’t think they they were going to go contend and like you have to be realistic about who they are but I definitely think like the Mike Brown situation wouldn’t have been so sort of weird and and awkward right and like somewhat messy but also I don’t it wasn’t really all that messy just for a couple of days it just didn’t feel all that like like it like it was two sides negotiating with the same goal in mind if that makes sense so I think that that would have been a little different I also think that if you would have been able to to get Malik monk back into the fry it probably would have made that situation like maybe a little different but I’m not sure overall like the players are gone the players are doing their thing they’re away from you know we’re seeing like I don’t know I saw uh like on Instagram sabonis was at I think he was at Bottle Rock and had Kevin herder with him right and so that’s good it’s good that you’re seeing these guys hang out together you’re seeing um sort of that family vibe that hasn’t been lost in Sacramento but I I I also think that you know we talked about this today and I think Kyle brought up a good point on the Insiders it’s that uh that this kind of feels like it might not have been a bad thing because I don’t think like the way that they team played felt weird the whole season but I still don’t think that this is the right roster it’s not the one right you’re still like a a starter and another rotation piece away and when you miss the playoffs when you miss you you get bounced in the play I think it now puts that pressure on on the franchise to uh to sit there and and try to improve it’s not all about just waiting for Keegan Murray to see what Keegan Murray is uh we we all should know at this point like keur is going to be a very good player he’s going to fight inconsistency early in his career He he’ll probably figure it out in year four and be a really really solid you know second third fourth option um but at the same time I think like if you’re being realistic we all can see that the Kings need a Brandon Ingram they need a Kyle kosma they need one of those players that that just adds another element that they don’t currently have they also need they need somebody who’s willing to punch somebody in the face and I know that’s not the modern NBA but like you know I I do think that this team needs a like a personality like adjustment like a somebody who plays with Force that’s why like when I see valent tunes’s name mentioned with the Kings I’m okay with that people know that if if you’re going to sit there and do something dirty and let’s just say you stomp on on chest of deus sabonis sabonis is going to check out of the game and then like one of the scariest dudes in the league is going to walk on the floor like looking to get payback and that’s something that the Kings could use they could use that that little bit of physicality and toughness that I just don’t think they have right now and I think that they they really desperately need yeah man there was there was a lot there um do you a guy like valent chunis or any guy like that is supposed to be you know an enforcer where do they fit in the basketball things of it is like valent Tunis comes to Sacramento is he your your backup big do you think that he’s taking your backup big one of the things I remember from pocket watching is Valen chunis is gonna get $15 million a year that’s just what it is that’s written in the NBA bylaws is that he’s getting $1 15 million so do you want a $15 million Year back upup or like how how would you see somebody like him playing on this roster I don’t think he’s getting anywhere near that and I also think what is he 32 33 like he’s looking at like final couple of years contract no it’s the law James we we looked at it like it’s you don’t think anyway I don’t know how this is it’s like every year just somehow it’s $50 million $50 million $50 million $50 million like it was like clockwork we’ll give you the exact numbers it really was amazing to see like oh yonas valun years 15 he’s absolutely getting come hell high water that man is getting a $15 million contract yeah it’s I I still would say he’s not going to but um but we don’t know because look the one team arguing science wow but the the one team that has bird rights to him and can give him that contract is not going to eight straight years eight straight million year so what is that 120 more nothing less just $50 million year every time so over the course of his career what’s he at like 147 anybody anybody else want in on this I couldn’t remember that one I remember though 135 m756 n44 okay okay um yeah so so when I’m looking at a player like that um like there’s a reason why the Pelicans are going to Go a different way and it’s just because his play style like I think they have other play they want to try something different at that position and I understand that but I also think like look around the league there aren’t a lot of starting center jobs that are going to be open this year and you can look at Andre Drummond who’s walking around making you know $3 million every year um as a guy who used to lead the league and rebounding and so I don’t think valentinis is going to get that kind of money um like would you love to have him for the biannual exception you know like a 2-year eight or $9 million deal sure I don’t know if that’s going to happen either you might have to use part of the midlevel but uh I definitely think that like he’s going to if if he were to come to the Kings it would be to be the backup center and to play alongside sabonis for like three minutes four minutes a half and so you know between the 13 14 minutes of being on the floor without sabonis and an extra you know three to eight minute I mean uh six to eight minutes with with sabonis on the court your your goal would be to get him close to 20 and that’s kind of where like the next couple of years I could see him being and like the only reason I think he would do that in Sacramento is so he can play with sabonis who you know again they play together on the Lithuanian national team they’re close and and to me that’s just so like I’ve brought up other players like I I love the idea of like somehow trying to pry Bobby poris out of out of Milwaukee like you go down the lane and Bobby poris is standing there staring at you you just turn around and go a different direction it doesn’t matter whether he’s going to block your shot or not he just like looked into your soul slapped your soul around and then sent you on your way like that dude stares you down and it’s it’s not good and and I think most of the really really good to Great teams have somebody that that puts the fear in you here and there you know like it certainly with look at uh look at Minnesota I don’t think it’s you know nobody’s fearing Kyle Anderson or or goar or even Carl Anthony towns but I don’t think anyone wants to mess with nas Reed you know like Nas Reed doesn’t mind giving you a hard foul he doesn’t mind you know staring you down or dunking over the top of you and I think most teams that are like in this position that are pushing forward they have those types of players hiding on their bench and the Kings could just use that type of that like mentality shift and I know a lot of Kings fans won’t like it because he’s the guy who who injured chimi metu but that’s what I’m kind of talking about like the you’re gonna dunk on me you’re gonna see what’s gonna happen and that’s something that the Kings kind of lack is that the number one thing the Kings need yeah I mean length athleticism physicality yeah I mean valent chunis the the idea of valent chunis and sabonis together is you backup rooll right like they’re not on the floor at the same time every once in a while every once in a while like I would have them on the floor together yeah I wouldn’t did Alex Lynn and sabonis ever play together this year I mean I’m sure it happened maybe once one time late in the season yeah but that doesn’t you know again I think you have to look at like what is it that that sabonis can do what are the players that you have around these guys and I’m not saying that like valent Tunis is end all Beall I just think that like it’s an interesting idea that the only reason we really have discussed this is because it showed up as a Kings being the number one betting odds uh Team to to actually acquire him um but uh yeah I don’t know I think length in athleticism but I keep saying that and I’ve said it for the last like three years it’s length athleticism and physicality in one player so again it is it’s not just having a guy with long arms that you know that can jump high it’s having that guy who is ferocious who doesn’t mind putting his you know nose where it doesn’t belong in in a situation on the court and and sort of uh you know whether it’s like a hard foul or it’s um just like defending someone with a physicality that the Kings don’t currently have and that’s where I would kind of look the there’s been a lot of talk since the season ended about getting player X in the Sacramento and you know could do that and then you move Harrison Barnes to the bench and d and I’ve always wondered like Harrison Barnes he doesn’t necessarily feel like a bench player to me he’s never been a bench player in his career but he doesn’t feel like a bench player to me but do you think like people say like really seamlessly do you think like Harrison is for that right now not saying like he’s a selfish player but like would he be yeah I’m willingly you know going to go to the bench or would he be unhappy with that would he say hey if you don’t look at me as a starter here you know look to move me to a place where you know I can play those type of minutes and do that do you think that would be an issue at all if he was a bench guy yeah I’d be intrigued like at at 32 um you know I think first of all Harrison the number one thing that he’s going to be concerned with right now is that your checks clear right because he’s getting play uh paid plenty of money to to do whatever it is the team asks him to to do I think Harrison Barnes would take a secondary role I think he would take a bench rooll I don’t think he would cause a problem I think he would say just like everybody else hey you know when asked hey sure I would I would love to still start but we all you know we all know that in this league there comes a point where maybe you don’t get to start anymore and and so I think he’s going to be totally fine with with whatever happens now that’s not for sure like I I haven’t spoken to him about it specifically but he’s a guy who’s known as a Pros Pro and he’s also a guy who kind of knows where he is in in the basketball world and sort of like what happens next here he’s been through it enough he understands that even you know there are some great players that he played with at certain points in his career that no longer started that no longer had that opportunity I mean even in Sacramento I believe he was on the team with oh maybe he wasn’t I was going to say he was on the team with Vince Carter but I don’t think he was I think that’s the year before um but still like those types of players like if you want to keep playing you want to uh stick around at a high level you want to be known as as the same guy that you were the whole like meat of your career as like the pros Pro you got to do what’s right for the team and at the end of the day if that’s you know what happens here I I think he would accept whatever role that Mike asked him to do we’ll come back we’ll talk more with James Hammer the Insiders about your Sacramento Kings when D the maey return here on Sacramento sports leader ESPN 1320 H I did not see this article the king’s tra for CJ and Nick Claxton and sign Jay Crowder and DeAnthony Milton um I don’t know I mean that certainly if you did all of that that means you’re losing um well you’re you’re losing probably Barnes or uh maybe Barnes and herder but also if you’re signing DeAnthony you’re probably losing monk so I do like Nick Claxton um he’s an I believe an unrestricted free agent which is kind of weird wow uh in case you two are interested I think an email is going out tomorrow about Janet Jackson tickets for Tuesday so if you guys are interested be on the lookout for that I think it’s coming from Megan oh okay are you guys going I plan on going yeah yeah going all right I will see Janet as long as Janet wants to be seen we taking a field trip trip to the Forum on juneth Kendrick Lamar can you might not want to go oh yeah la for for I said field trip they uh what I didn’t casy in La they’re doing a uh what is TD doing a show or something like I didn’t even see that Kendrick oh Kendrick is just doing each other yeah they going to be fire Ken and friends that’s what it’s called that’s what that was actually the original working title for this show so so the self the self-titled uh NBA Guru Zach uh last time I mean like the problem with r hat chamora is he’s not a playmaker for anyone but himself like he’s he just doesn’t pass at all like for his career he’s a horrific he’s a black hole I mean averages 1.3 assists per game for his career 1.2 last season like I that’s a Creator it’s not a playmaker in my opinion I don’t think that’s the play you’re talking about a guy who doesn’t pass and who doesn’t play defense at all no he can score I’ve heard they call him the guru scooter 916 H I know my wife would like to go see Janet I think I’ve told you guys that story My Wife Met Janet my uh her aunt got married to a guy and that guy was Janet Jackson’s trainer and Janet Jackson was at the wedding that was like Wow probably 25 years ago I expected to meet more famous people when I went to Kenny’s wedding but I think they had a separate ceremony for for the famous people all the famous people yeah why it started late you’re the most famous person I know that’s a s why would Janet ask me on stage well James you might want to Google that like Timberlake asked me on stage no did I see what numbers no the the tval yeah the 76 okay yeah yeah yeah Steen Brown are you g are you gonna come out to the draft party dog come on Stephen Brown you gotta pull up on us one time he always be treating us like uh well you probably shouldn’t say this anymore either like a red-headed stepchild well I am a redheaded stepchild that’s why I say you probably shouldn’t say that no shs it James ham for no reason saying just no reasons at all my mom is married to someone that’s not my dad yes I I do have technically all right that was an interesting way to end the commercial break over there on the live stream trying to get Steven Brown out to the draft party by the way we’re gonna have a draft party a night one draft party it should be yeah back to back a Wednesday night funny thing is following that email chain I don’t even know that this is confirmed I know it’s confirmed I won’t be there I just I just think Charlie fired off the email and then I saw a reply like wait a minute are we doing this or not hey plan to be at Tom’s watch bar we love Tom’s watch bar that’s that’s where I think we’re gonna be come through that the right at the golden one Center I had a uh uh like a I don’t know what you say like an old saying that I just said to James uh well not to James but I just said in general oh you said it to James it was a shot at H for sure I said uh treat him like a redheaded stepchild that’s another phrase that I didn’t know was a TV show that James alerted to me earlier I don’t even know if I I’m not even G to say it on the air but we were up the creek and and he was like oh you need to oh yeah oh I so you need to watch that show I said it was a show is that where the the saying came from or did the show get named after the saying oh no that show’s recent that show’s like it just ended like two years ago well I don’t think we can say that on the era can we no I just prefer we everyone knows what we’re talking about like you can spell it out I guess but blank yeah blank for all of you out there it it definitely wasn’t on NBC like Mike too wasn’t doing reads to tune in following the game for a special Sunday Night episode but I’ll I’ll admit I tried to watch and it didn’t oh it’s so good it didn’t hook me oh you you got to try it again all right anyway that’s funny I guess I guess I’ll I guess I’ll try again if I’m gonna have to watch clipped then you might have to watch oh no this is not the say you are going to love clipped you’re gonna love the the the little guy who plays Blake Griffin you’re gonna love the uh the the chubby guy who plays Draymond Green Oh really Inc got an old guy playing Steph Curry it’s everyone’s like 57 to like 6 fo one that are all playing like these having seen it though having seen it now Lawrence Fishburn his Doc Rivers is just superb n it’s it’s perfect and did they did they like kind of preview doc getting like the the tattoo hair lineup or something like that because remember he just randomly asked Lavar bton like how do you get your beard so crisp he’s like oh micro shape or whatever blade like oh that doc was previewing foreshadowing boy that that camera light hit Doc’s head hit Lauren hit hit Doc’s head a couple of times and it was like oh no you just see the spray like just shining and it’s like oh all right shout outling getting his hair died by V oh that was amazing oh man that was amazing James come on man we live through it that’s like no but you want to see this you’ve you have not seen you haven’t seen this you need to see it okay you need to see I’ll give it a shot hey before we get back to the Kings what do you think about JJ go go for it Lakers good for you yeah make sure it’s a fiveyear deal like 15 mil a pop I want to see a five7 uh 75 for him I got give him time you got to give him time to make sure he a learns how to coach uh and and B um you know has to learn how to coach without LeBron because you know we just can’t have the two years with LeBron and then nothing else I I’m I’m confused why Lebron would want to risk what the final two years of his career are with it with somebody who doesn’t know like the finer nuances of being an NBA coach he likes ping with him I guess I guess yeah maybe maybe maybe JJ is good maybe he’s good I know that when I get my head coaching job uh Sean Cunningham and Brandon Nunes and and Kyle and you two are gonna be on my staff so wow I appreciate that I just I want to be on the front row boy now you’re just asking for too much he’s he’s hiring all of us and didn’t even hire his buddy Doug Christie wow that’s right that’s a shame that’s a shame my associate head coach the we could talk more about this tomorrow the Wall Street Journal had a pretty indepth article on the television deals for the NBA that have yet to be announced one of the key notes in them and I really do think this is well one it’s bad news for all of us because it means we’re going to pay more roughly a hundred games each season are going to NBC and half of them are going to [Music] Peacock man I hope they take some of that money and make an actual platform that works um one of the worst platforms there are for I feel like the platform works I just feel like it sucks oh yeah I’ve never had any problems getting it to work it’s just not the easiest platform to navigate yeah it’s not great it’s not great it’s confusing it’s like unnecessarily confusing it is it’s it’s very difficult to navigate uh it’s one of those ones where if you’re watching a show and you pause it and then you don’t come back in time it could start like three episodes back and you have no idea like you’re it’s it’s a frustrating situation and like when I was there those are basic things that HBO Max doesn’t do those are basic basic things that Hulu doesn’t do that Netflix doesn’t they almost bought uh Hulu when I was when I was at NBC and they got out bid for it uh by by Disney so um yeah I think that that would have been good for them that would have given them a real working platform like as it is I don’t think it’s very using user friendly at all and I think if they’re going to jump into like the the deep pool here with all the with with Amazon and with you know whether TNT’s back but you know ESPN they’ve got to fix they’ve got to do the basics they’ve got to absolutely fix their their platform if they’re going to force us to watch a game on that platform they’ll use all of the money that we’re paying them to fix it because 100 days that feels like they’re getting another night right like because if it’s the 100 games isn’t just basketball night in America yeah well you can have two games a night uh Tuesday and Sunday Tuesday and Sunday because Sunday doesn’t start till football February yeah or I guess it could start janary that’s still a good look that’s that’s a great look for the NBA that Tuesday game on the the the the reads for Sunday Night Football hey join us Tuesday Kings I mean that’s yeah that’s G be good stuff Warriors Kings is what it would be because that’s allj reick makes his home coaching debut against the Sacramento Kings can’t wait to watch JJ reck on national TV 45 times a year I’m a year off my bad um yeah also as Ernie Johnson said we’re here next year guys so well there’s rumors out there that they they might just dip out I don’t think that’s what’ll happen but on next year oh I don’t think they do that I don’t think I certainly don’t think he would do that they were uh no no not Ernie not Ernie um but they were there was uh it was it was Simmons matter of fact with like his little TV buddy or whatever talking about this and I guess reportedly NBA went to TNT before all this tried to reup for like a higher price like maybe 2.3 or something like that and Warner and TNT and then were like and NBA told him like it’s gonna be less games because we’re getting bringing another partner in but we want we we’re asking you to do this price and Warner and them were like no like you’re crazy like you’re taking games away from us and you’re upping the price like no and then the NBA was like all right we’ll go find the we’ll find the money we tried to come to you first yeah so that well they had the they had that negotiating window that was open but they went to ESPN and this was and I don’t know how public this was it was in the the article today in the Wall Street Journal but they went to ESPN and TNT and said hey the window was open for you obviously we want to talk but we want to bring in Amazon as a third partner are you okay if we open discussions with Amazon and both everyone involved agreed to it well Amazon was the company that got some of those games that TNT is frustrated about we know talking about the playing tournament and all of that different stuff in the End season tournament and and so they essentially worked out the Amazon deal like that ESPN agreed [Music] to re retain you know being a partner with a little bit less of a a game load TNT didn’t make that same agreement and now they’re in the situation that they are because the second that window closed NBC opened with 2.5 million or 2.5 billion which was uh above what was thrown at TNT during the exclusive negotiating window like the dude who runs and I forgot his name that runs TNT he’s he’s he’s he’s gonna carry the bag for this like it is bad on every level and it’s just sitting on his shoulders that’s tough I wonder what it’s going to mean for the rsns as well because you know the rsns are struggling across the across the country and like how is a regional Sports Network supposed to like you know again the king showed up on TV National TV what 22 times this year which of those I think like 11 couldn’t be uh played on NBC Sports Bay Area California um and what does that mean like if you’re adding someone else and you’re selling off more of what’s happening out there because that that could mean that some of these uh these smaller Market teams like the Kings like they’re going to run up against this like there are might not be comfortable with what’s about to happen and so there’s going to be pretty complex negotiation here with everybody involved well well we’re seeing a couple of things came out over the week um the Liberty are starting a a basically like Clippers Vision thing for the Liberty where if you’re a liberty fan you just pay to see all their games or whatever I still think they have their partnership with yes or whatever is going on but they’re dabbling in that and then uh I saw in Chicago the Bulls white socks Blackhawks I think kind of started their own Broadcasting channel and in the fall they’re going to just be broadcasting those games and that’s outside of you know the the regional Sports Network and stuff like that because they were talking about the White Sox are still on like NBC Chicago or whatever said they’re going to finish off that season and then they’re going to go exclusively to uh to this this new this new station they have so it feels like some of these teams see the future man and and it’s not with some of these Regional Sports networks it’s not with cable and they’re if if if they’re smart they’re starting to like dabble in hey what do I need to do to start my own uh Channel or place where I could broadcast games or who can I team up with you know to to get in get in uh on on what they’re possibly doing and so I think in the next probably by the time these these uh National TV deals are up you’ll probably see some stuff like that all around super interesting I I I it’s going to change the game I mean completely just how much money is going to be in the game we’ we’ve talked a little bit about this but like five years from now a Max money deal extension the player could get up to like 90 million in one year of his deal like that’s that’s absolutely crazy that you know we’re already talking about guys what uh Jaylen Brown’s going to make 60 million in one year of his deal and um there’s a lot of players who are climbing up the 45 to $50 million range but just think of that like times 10% times 10% times 10% times 10% and like it’s G to get wild as the salary cap goes up I can’t remember who the two names I saw who would approach that number first those those like nearing six those those Nearing you know 100 million numbers I I’m positive one of them was SGA but I can’t remember who the other one was was Luca the other one it it might be Luca that’s the name that stuck in my head but for some reason I feel like it was maybe it was Luca but the other one was definitely SGA of course that would require him you know to continue to sign contracts with the Oklahoma City Thunder as you you know lose money the second that you change teams but um talking about all these different teams James talk about the the you know the Thunder we were talking about the Pelicans earlier the Timberwolves you know we we keep trying to make ways for the Sacramento Kings to get better we keep trying to find ways to get them to be able to move up in these Western Conference standings but is there anyone in the conference and I I think I just named two potential examples is there anyone in the conference you see maybe falling back a little bit and I’m not talking steep out of the conversation falloffs I’m just I think uh Minnesota was maybe 56 wins this year okay would you see them dropping down maybe into the 49 win range into the 50 win range are there any teams that you could see falling back a little bit I think Minnesota’s going to be there for a good two or three years I’m not sure that I’m going to see major regression like 54 55 56 wins like they’re a team that yeah at some point they are going to have to like well they’re just going to have to pay a bunch in luxury tax money right and whether they’re willing to do that or not I think has always been the question on who the owner is yeah definitely believe some of the things that you’re reading lately no totally totally so I think that that’s going to be a major question and like how do you how do you get back to a normal like range but also by the end of that run the two to three year that I’m talking about I don’t know how long go Bear’s deal is but it can’t be much longer than that and so you will get some relief from some of these guys going away um I would say the same thing when it comes to you know like again Mike Connelly makes decent money there and eventually he won’t be there because he’ll retire and won’t you know won’t be in the league um so I definitely think that there there’s a way that they they can remain up at the top I think for me I mean clearly I think the Clippers are going to have a tough time maintaining um I don’t care who’s there and who’s not uh oh yeah so gober’s only under contract for two more years at uh 43.8 and 46.7 the low low price that’s a lot and and those two uh years coincide with Mike Connelly’s 10 million And1 million deals Carl Anthony towns just so were like 49.3 53.3 57.3 61.2 and the 2728 season how long is the deal that he signed well he sign a contract you know oh man good that’s a lot of cash yeah so um like look I think that they’re going to be teams at fall I think the Clippers I think the Lakers I think uh Golden State I mean you always have to count the the Lakers might be able to pull off something I’m not sure the Golden State can um and they’re closer to like losing pieces than they are to gaining pieces and it’s not like they have a bunch of young Talent who’s just going to step in and somehow maintain the same level the previous guys were um but you you got to hope to avoid that if you’re the Kings like you don’t want to be one of those teams and you also have to be concerned about the Houston Rockets and you got to be concerned that somehow the the Memphis Grizzlies will you know pull their head out of their rectums and figure things out and they were well I mean they were the number two seed last year James paints with words yeah so I’m just saying like that’s that’s a team that could be right back on it right right back into this conversation and uh and you just don’t know who what what they’re going to look like so yeah I mean like we’re talking about the Kings they’re on the outside looking in not just like I don’t even really count like the playoffs playing all that stuff like they’re in a group of teams that are on the outside looking in of three or four teams that are going to be really good for the next like three to five years and you know that of course is is I think Minnesota it’s OKC it’s Denver and then and then maybe Dallas has decided to join that conversation I’m not quite sure that I’m that this isn’t like not smoking mirrors but like just happens to be the whole matchup thing that got them there but I kind of want to see it play out yeah I I kind of feel the same way about Dallas uh I just I just want to see it again you know what I mean I’m not trying to away from what they did this year but I want to see them be this type of player for or type of team for an entire season um for me to say okay no they’re they’re here for sure with this incarnation of the team I think the Clippers are in trouble you know I I think they’re definitely in trouble they’re gonna lose Paul George you can’t depend on kawh Leonard you know and they just resigned him to a New Deal um they do have that that that winner James Hardo you know say wants to be remembered as a winner I saw that okay saw that they have to resign him right like he’s not under contract or does he have another year I don’t know I haven’t looked up I don’t think he’s under contract I feel like this was it yeah their situation well I certainly know that Russell Westbrook has a has an opt out um they’re in a a weird situation Paul George has a$ 48.8 million player option kawhai is under contract for three more years uh Norman Pal’s under contract for two years Harden’s a free agent plumbley is a free agent and Westbrook and PJ Tucker can both opt out um and I don’t think I don’t think PJ Tucker is going to opt out of that 11.5 million whether he’s playing or not PJ Tucker making 11 making that dollar figure is offensive well you know I mean he he’s got a sneaker collection to support but still he plays hard know defense who’s more valuable to that team Russell Westbrook or or PJ Tucker Russell Westbrook wait what you thinking about Russell doesn’t make anything yeah Russ makes like the four and a half million or something yeah you ask who’s more valuable I said Russell Westbrook yeah yeah yeah I’d say so no I’m saying that’s 11 million to4 million if I’m uh if I’m Russell Westbrook I’m looking around like hey how come everybody else makes 50 million and I make four I mean I just don’t know place in the league is anymore like I don’t know how different like James Harden’s not going to sign a league minimum contract but he might sign a Kyrie Irving like deal you know like that might be what James Harden signs for like those days of $50 million contracts you know max level contracts for those guys are are gone I I think Russ knows he’s not that player anymore and I honestly think Russ you know I don’t know I’m sure he’ll have a discussion with you know tyo and everyone involved I would assume he wants to stay in Los Angeles and you know opts into that contract with the idea of I want to stay here and play here that this isn’t a you know a a grab a financial grab like I this is this is where I want to be but I think he should have a discussion with tyou and that in that group about having a place on that team I clearly obviously I feel like he does and I feel like he has an important place on that team um and I think James Harden resigns there I don’t I don’t think he has another home at this point on the planet outside the Los Angeles Clippers there might be something enough reason to believe it’ll work and then if the scary thing for me is if you’re a Clipper fan is if Paul George does leave James Harden gets moved up to the number two guy that’s where I feel like all hell could break loose oh geez yeah and I don’t know where Paul George Goes if he does leave there but I think there there’s a possibility he stays there there’s possibility but Philly I think I think that’s the move maybe I think I think there I mean I mean I I don’t know if he goes to Philly or not there just seems to be an abundance of noise about Paul George in Philadelphia um of course there’s an abundance of noise about Philadelphia and virtually everyone yeah because they don’t have a team pretty much I heard they wanted to sign James ham last week and it’s like Charlie stepped in and said no like we’re we don’t match the offer at least eight minutes a night there we go least I’ll play defense come on James you can play eight minutes in the NBA no no I might be can you play eight minutes on Kenny’s team sure maybe oh yeah I mean I set mean screens you could play the defense that Kenny plays I plays D oh no no I actually play defense KN that I was locking up when I played last time hey did you know did you know that uh the the much hyped up game between the sack City crew uh got forfeited because Sack City had like six people who were hurt and didn’t show up oh that was that I I didn’t even think about it because I knew you were sick I didn’t even that was this past week yeah and I was gonna miss the game anyway oh man it was all bad but this this Sunday supposed to be IO io’s team okay well it’s a 8 AM start that’s crazy boy another Kenny gonna miss another game uh but don’t miss an episode of the Insiders 10: a.m. tomorrow

  1. I think that Rui Hachimura is a better defender than Ham gives credit for. Much closer to average than bad. With Mike Brown as a coach I think he’d be fine, but inWashington and next to Lebron aren’t easy places to play, and his coaching hasn’t been great.

For his position, He’s also a good rebounder, has good size, and good low post defense. Would be an upgrade imo.

  2. Corbin Bersen also played Roger Dorn the primadonna 3rd baseman in major league 1 and 2 . The dude who says strike this mother f’er out! Guys major league? Disappointed

  3. James mentioning " length, athleticism, and physicality "..I thought he was describing Javale Mcgee… 😂😂😂
