5 Jimmy Butler Trade Ideas Ft. Donovan Mitchell, Lauri Markkanen & Jonathan Kuminga

extension super max that is and if the heat are unwilling to give it to him could Jimmy request a trade or could the heat just get ahead of Butler potentially leaving next year after declining a player option we’re going to look at five potential trades if they do go that route before we get into those five trades I want to make something very very clear I Nick rolloff am not trading Jimmy Butler under any circumstance I want to extend him I want to keep him here until he’s done playing basketball he has given you everything you could have possibly imagined and more over the last five seasons it’s not his fault this team has not been able to get over the hump they’ve always been the less talented team in the playoffs but they’ve made two NBA Finals runs and a run to the Eastern Conference Finals as well I want to keep Jimmy here long term but this is just clearly a hypothetical video if they do want to go this route so the first idea if you are trading Jimmy Butler is to deal him but you also get a top 15 player in the league in return Donovan Mitchell This is the first trade option we’ve kind of discussed this trade idea in the past where Butler gets sent to a different team Mitchell comes to uh the Heat and there’s just a bunch of moving Parts this is the trade idea that we’ve shown in the past and would be probably the most likely outcome if the heat were to get Don Mitchell for Jimmy Butler in this deal the heat get D Mitch and Max dreu Jimmy Butler gets rerouted to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cavaliers get Tyler herro and four first round picks three from Philly cuz Philly’s got obviously pay up to get Jimmy and then one unprotected first round pick in 2030 from Miami also heading to Cleveland this is kind of The Best of Both Worlds if you’re asking me if you want and decide to move on from Jimmy you get a player under 27 years old who is one of the best three level scores in the entire NBA and that would be Donovan Mitchell and now you would just fully commit to the Donovan Mitchell bam a bio Duo and you would build the team to fit those two needs in terms of players around him whether it be Wing Defenders Wing three-point shooting in that trade you would also get to keep nicoa yic and haime hakz Jr so you keep your two young assets to potentially move in a different trade or just have them grow alongside D Mitch and Bam but the one thing that is also intriguing in that trade is bringing Max dreu back to Miami because you saw hero leave in that deal so you now have um backcourt issues and there’d be a question if you made that deal would you keep Terry Rosier would you remove him if you did keep him he would probably be relegated to sixthman and I think your starting back court could be this right here it could be Mitchel and Max Tru as your two guys in the back court with yovic hakz and Bam in your front Court Max obviously did a lot of good things for Miami when he was here and in the postseason struggled a little bit with his three-point shooting in his first season with the Cavaliers but was able to put up 12 points a game and he was actually a really good Defender for them as well this past season one of their better perimeter guys after d Mitch and Garland because those two guys aren’t the best defenders so max dreu had to take on the task of guarding some of the top guys on the wing and perimeter when Isa aoro was not on the core so let me ask you this we’ve talked about Donovan Mitchell at nauseum but would you trade Jimmy to get D Mitch I’ve kind of always been hesitant I’ve always been let’s get D Mitch to add with Jimmy and Bam but you let me know would you trade Jimmy just to get Donovan Mitchell type y for yes or type n for no different type of trade here and it’s sending Jimmy back to where he is from Houston with the rockets and this one’s intriguing to me because you get a couple good young players and picks the Rockets have maybe the most youth in the league they have a lot of good young players in the form of alfrin shenon Jabari Smith cam Whitmore Aman Thompson like you’d be able to get probably two of those guys to really go young and rebuild this heat future if you will now this isn’t improving your roster but it is a fascinating trade idea you get am men Thompson and cam Whitmore obviously Heat fans wanted Whitmore at 18 last year instead that heat went hwz hakz was better but Whitmore still flash some nice things you get Thompson who is the fourth overall pick Thompson was just unbelievably gifted athletically and physically 66 67 unbelievably long arms can bounce out of the gym he is like a point guard forward hybrid he’s kind of like what Ben Simmons was supposed to be but just a couple inches shorter and then you’d also get Steven Adams to make salary working alongside a couple first round picks an unprotected 2028 first round pick and a top five protected 2025 first round pick and if you made this deal you would obviously be a much younger team you’d have a core of Tyler hero yovic h bam Thompson Whitmore that is a lot of players under the age of 27 or lower so you go full youth movement you can build those guys together have them grow together have them struggle together and you also get an expiring contract in stepen Adams he could be your backup center behind adabo or you can save that contract and flip him at the deadline if the season isn’t going as you expected plus you get $235 million in cap space which would allow you to retain a couple of your own free agents if you wanted to or go out and sign an exterior free agent but when you look specifically at the two young pieces you would be getting from Houston I am intrigued man I mentioned Topson really underrated Defender underrated might not be the right word I think people know he’s a solid guy on the defensive end but with his size quickness and length it is just unbelievable how he can lock down opposing wings and guards and then Whitmore is also bouncy as well we saw a couple skyscraping slams from Whitmore a year ago that ended up on Sports Center top 10 but he also flashed the ability to score on all three levels Whitmore shows some promise these two guys would be very intriguing in the heat developmental system and it would just bring more athleticism and bring a lot of nice things that Miami currently doesn’t have but it would obviously take a toll on the heat cuz they would not really be competing in 24 or 25 make sure you are subscribed to the channel because we’re going to bring you daily locked in with everything surrounding the heat another trade here that is kind of Youth driven Jimmy Butler gold going to Golden State there is reported interest from the Warriors if Butler was made available and it makes sense Steph Curry’s nearing the end of his career you bring in Jimmy to be that co-star to Curry at the end of his career also would provide a nice Wing Defender and score and clutch time that Curry is very used to having with Kevin Durant and the heat would have to get a hole in this one because one the Warriors don’t really have a ton of contracts they can send to Miami to make this match they could send Chris Paul but it’s also a non-guaranteed contract and that he might not even opt into that deal so in this projected trade the heat get Andrew Wiggins Jonathan kuminga Brandon pody who was on the first team all rookie this past season Gary Payton and then a 2025 first round pick and if you are getting this deal back Andrew wiggin is cool psky is cool but to me the headliner is Jonathan kuminga and I am a massive kuminga fan I enjoy watching him play basketball love his nickname too the cumbucket that’s just freaking hilarious um but either way he is an exceptional athlete exceptional at finishing around the rim and he really took some strides this season after being a top 10 pick in that 2020 NBA draft where the Warriors went James wisman and kuminga he has been just good man played in 74 games this past season averaged 16 points a game Steve cerr in that Warriors coaching staff asked him to take a larger role on the offensive end and he did not shy away from that you see the efficiency too he is excellent at putting the ball in the basket when he’s working elbow down only issue jump shot is still a little bit of a work in progress but I’m always going to trust the heat developmental staff to get that fixed or get it on the right track but either way you just simply can’t teach the size wingspan and athleticism that he has one of the best finishers in the NBA as well you can play him as a small ball four but it’s not even that small ball he can really defend for in the NBA but if you were to get a spacing four next to Bam and then put kuminga at the three that would give you a lot of size and versatility in your front court all right number four Jimmy rejoins embiid and Miami sends him to Philadelphia and you might be saying well Nick what do you mean we already had this with the Donovan Mitchell trade in the first one well this is a trade that if it was just between Miami and Philly and the bad thing is if you had to do that trade it would only be picks Because unless you did did a sign in trade where you’re getting like a Tobias Harris a buddy heeld or something like that because Philadelphia has three people under contract yeah you heard that correctly they have embiid they have Paul Reed and uh they have Ricky Council they might have another guy but I forgot his name and he’s like a bum who doesn’t even play so they can’t offer you anything but picks and I don’t really want just first round picks for Jimmy Butler I’d like to get some Youth and if you’re me dealing them away some players but the trade package would likely be this and they’re eligible to trade up to five first round picks after the NBA draft in late June so this is my kind of deal whoever the 76ers pick at number 16 overall but it could be a handshake agreement of if you get to the conclusion before the draft that it’s picking for Miami uh the 2026 first round pick that is the least favorable of Thunder Houston and Los Angeles Clippers a 2028 unprotected first round pick that’s via Los Angeles which would be very enticing cuz Paul George and Qui Leonard may be done by then and then a 2029 first round pick that is unprotected from Philadelphia you get a lot of first round picks got a lot ammo to potentially making a different trade or just build through the draft the next five to six years but if I’m going to be honest if we do come to the conclusion Pat riy ends up dealing Jimmy Butler I ain’t doing it to the 76ers one and I don’t really want to do it for just picks I’d like to get some players that can really grow in this heat system and not make this an long gated rebuild because if you do a trade like that where you just get picks and you don’t reroute those picks to get another co-star for bam at a bio what’s holding bam back from asking out after his current contract to go try to go win a championship somewhere else kind of the risk that you have there if you take that package from Philly one more trade to get to but make sure you get this Miami Heat Polo you know who loves polos by the way Dad’s and Father’s Day is next weekend so if you are last minute shopping for your father you can medium large and extra large available so if you’ve yet to get a Father’s Day gift chatsports.com poo might be the best way to go last trade idea Lori Marken could the heat send Jimmy to you Utah for marketing now if I’m going to be honest I’m not so sure why Utah would want to take Jimmy Butler and get rid of Lori because if they did want Jimmy in any capacity they’d probably want him to add to Lori marke in but I thought it would be a fascinating idea to talk about and in this deal the heat get both Lori marinin and Colin seon who the Heat have had an affinity for in the past and would be a perfect heat culture guy you also get a 2028 first round pick since or via the Cleveland Cavaliers but you also have to add Tyler hero into the deal this one’s weird because you free up a lot of cap space marketing is only under contract for one more season worth $18 million it might be the second best contract in all of basketball next year behind Jaylen Brunson only getting paid 24 $25 million but you get a lot of cap space where if you made this deal this off season you could spend it on some free agents to really revamp this roster alongside market and Bam cuz those two would be your top guys and would be your Duo leading forward you’d still have Rosier and seon in the back court but to me You’ still need to add a third guy and if you made that deal you obviously still have aspirations to be competitive forming a probably the best front Court Duo and Bam and Markin but they still need scoring from the perimeter and if you make that deal you’re honestly just a glorified Orlando Magic because their Duo of Vagner and Paulo banero needs more guard help and you would need more guard help if you made this deal so sure it’s intriguing to get that cap space you get an extra first round pick you get marketed and Colin ston but I still probably would think you need to go out and add another All-Star guy now if you made that deal came back and said wow Cleveland we got an extra first round pick we’ll send you that 2028 the two first round picks we have in hwz or something to get DCH and then you have DCH marketing and Bam well now then we could start talking all right
