New York Knicks Rumors: Sign Chris Paul? + Top NBA Free Agent Point Guards Knicks Can Sign

should the New York Knicks sign Chris Paul in free agency if the Warriors decline his guaranteed money for this upcoming season we’re going to break that down on today’s show but I want to hear from you first should the Knicks sign Chris Paul I don’t think it’ll cost a lot of money and I don’t think the Warriors are going to pick up that $30 million contract which means he’s going to be a free agent I think the Nicks still have a major need as a backup point guard I love Duce McBride but Deuce to me is an off ball guard need an initiator another engine could CP3 be that guy type pass for sign typ P for [Music] pass welcome in New York knck now by chat sports I am your host Marshall Green appreciate everybody for stopping by as we break down the latest news and rumors that surround this basketball team Chris Paul has a $30 million contract going into the 2024 4 2025 season but it’s not guaranteed and the Golden State Warriors have until June 28th to decide they it’s ultimately a team option if they want to pick that up or not if they do they owe him $30 million if they don’t he’s a free agent and he’s allowed to sign wherever he wants people might be like Marshall where are you hearing this from well one I have been told to monitor Chris Paul to the New York Knicks that’s all I will say on that and also as we know Chris Paul CA Mafia nice to meet you if you play if you’re repped by CA you got a pretty good shot of the New York Knicks having some interest in you and I think that the fit just strictly on the basketball floor makes a lot of sense the New York Knicks need another four General Off the Bench they need a guy that when Jaylen Brunson sits down when Jaylen Brunson has to go to the locker room when jayen Brunson has to take a break when he’s out of the game they need someone that can be a life vest for this offense to keep it a flow because we have seen now through two seasons of basketball when Brunson is on the floor the Knicks are one of the best teams in the NBA when Brunson is off the floor they are below average and really one of the worst offenses in the league when jayen brunson’s on the four for the Knicks they score 124.14 they score just 10 19.4 points per 100 possessions they are almost third that is 13 no 14 15 almost 15 points worse per 100 possessions when Jaylen Brunson sits down so what does that mean they need someone to be able to generate offense for the team get the ball to players in spots that they could be successful and be able to score by themselves if that ain’t Chris Paul I don’t know who is is he the guy that we remember with the with the Hornets no Clippers no Suns no Rock no is he an elite player at this point no is he still a productive player at this point you beta and the only word I have about him is age and injury issues which is something I probably shouldn’t just scoff over but man it would be great to have somebody off the bench that gave you those numbers that Chris Paul did he’s a walking 10 and eight any single night he’s one of the best pick and roll maestros to ever grace this league and I honestly think that as he gets older he could maybe play a little bit more off ball and play next to a guy like Jaylen Brunson or like miles McBride he knocks down the catch and shoot three at 42.3% that is a skill that will translate to any team you play on and he’s also someone that is still deadly in the mid-range he knocks down his pullup mid-range jumpers at 47% so he could still get to a spot he could still rise up off that elbow and he can knock it down off the catch and he’s also one of the best still pick and roll ball handlers and he gives you another engine for the offense he can run your offense he can get the ball to Randle He can get the ball to Hart he can get the ball to OG he can run that pick and roll with Isaiah Hart Inside he can find Dean chenzo and he can also go to that mid-range jumper and pull up if he has to but the most appealing part for me outside of really just fitting the need that the Knicks have he’s not going to be expensive he’s not it’s low risk lowrisk reward I mean let’s say you sign Chris Paul to a twoyear $8 million Deal four4 million each year and that’s plenty enough and I honestly think that if Chris Paul is serious and he looks in the mirror and says that I want to win an NBA championship the New York Knicks might just be the best landing spot for him he tried it last year with the Golden State Warriors Warriors aren’t as good as the Knicks Knicks were one game from the Conference Finals no Randall no Robinson no bogy no OG get those guys back and you add Chris Paul Off the Bench to run your second unit I makes a lot of sense the Lakers will have interest in him though and at this point I think that’s probably the most likely destination for Chris Paul go and play with LeBron James and end your career with one of your best friends but if he does enter free agency which we were expecting him to do as a CA client I would call him I’d say what would it take for you to come play for the Knicks CU adding him off the bench if your bench was Chris Paul miles MC br Josh Hart and a big and maybe a guards that are going to be available once July 1st opens up and these these are in order from I got this list from Hoops hype the order is in their order not my order it is their order and the number one guy they have is James Harden New York Knicks are not going to be in a spot Financial wise to sign James Harden so this one is easy this will be a pass for the New York Knicks the next player that they had listed was D’Angelo Russell and like James Harden I think Russell will be outside the price point of the New York Knicks so not going to spend too much time talking about him tus Jones on the other hand maybe he could be within the New York Knicks wheelhouse if the Knicks are able to have their full non- taxpayer mid-level exception it ranges from about four years to $55 million maybe tus Jones signs for more than that but if you want to talk about a guy that can run your offense be a my stroke control the pace of play get the ball to guys in open spots Jones one of the best assist to turnover ratio point guards of all time don’t know if the Knicks will have the money for that but it would be something that I am interested in that is a lot of money though to pay a point guard to only play about 15 minutes a game I will say Russell Westbrook was the next player on Hoops Hypes list my initial reaction was no way noow I’m not signing Russell Westbrook and I still feel that way I’m not signing Russell Westbrook but for a veteran minimum I entertain it plays hard he’s a good rebounder still good in that pick and roll he could drive and kick I don’t hate the idea but not something that I would actually pursue all too heavily Spencer dwy was the next point guard listed and I just don’t really have any interest in Spencer deny I think he is cooked I the game is run by him as he shot 39% last year a player that I am interested in is Reggie Jackson he is someone that can score the basketball we saw him be a spark plug all season long for the Denver Nuggets averaged over 10 points per game he’s gotten that field goal percentage to a respectable spot he’s improved that three-point percentage as well I think he’d cost you probably 8910 million per year is two years $20 million get it done the Giants do the Knicks want to pay that type of money I’m not sure but another score that control your offense and create offense instantly Off the Bench makes a lot of sense a point guard that I wanted the Knicks to sign in the buyout Market was Kyle Lowry and if Kyle Lowry has any interest in still playing in the NBA next year and he wants to move on from Philadelphia I think Kyle Lowry as a member of the Knicks makes a lot of sense I hate the way plays basketball He Flops but at the end of the day he’s a winner he’s a competitor and he would fit like a glove on this team and you can never have too many Nova Knicks Patrick Beverly the next point guard up on today’s show veteran minimum is about as high as I would go for Patrick Beverly maybe two years maybe three million at most defensive minded guard um doesn’t really fit the Prototype of what I’m looking for I’d just rather have du McBride playing his minutes Chris Dunn the next point guard ranked by Hoops hype uh defensive minded point guard I like him um but not really what I’m looking for at that point guard position I want a guy that can set the table for others and Chris Dunn is just not that guy anymore campaign while he’s not necessarily a floor General he is someone that can create some offense for you and we saw him hit some big time shots for the Philadelphia 76ers in the playoffs cheap deal sure um but not one of my higher priorities someone I am a little bit more interested in is Aaron holiday um a pretty solid year for the Houston Rockets and he came on as the season grew on um a little bit smaller than I would like not the four General in the table setter but he’s a competitive player and I like the way I like the way he just goes about his business probably the player that I’m most interested in this list and maybe I’m just still clinging on to what I thought he could be coming out of Washington but at 6’3 he averaged over eight points per game last year under two three assists but the field goal percentage 47 Marquel Foltz I think would make a lot of sense for the Knicks he can get downhill he can attack the basket I think he could play alongside dece McBride I think his defense is is at least at an acceptable level and he’s someone that may not be the assist type of point guard we’re looking for Off the Bench but he could score and he can get downhill he’s got Creative Touch around the rim and he’s got a little back to the basket game as well kind of little Shawn Livingston mid-range and he’s super athletic I think Nicks could benefit from adding some athleticism as well markl folz is someone I’ve definitely got my eyes on Dennis Smith Jr been there done that not really all that interested in Dennis Smith Jr at this point Monty Morris maybe um I like the way that he could shoot the ball he’s a little streaky but someone I wouldn’t look Monty Morris’s way I would look other people’s way Marquel Foltz tyus Jones Reggie Jackson those are probably my top guys that I’m looking at but Chris Paul he’s up there too name a point guard you want the Knicks to sign give me a name in the comment section and make sure to follow me over on social
