The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks, 107-89, in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals Presented by YouTube TV to take a 1-0 series lead. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 22 points and 6 rebounds while Kristaps Porzingis (20 points (8-13 FG), 6 rebounds) and Jayson Tatum (16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists) totaled 36 points. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 30 points and 10 rebounds while P.J. Washington (14 points, 8 rebounds) and Kyrie Irving (12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) totaled 26 points.

In tonight’s game, the Celtics have 7 players with 2 or more 3PT FGs made. It marks the most players by an individual team with multiple 3PT FGs made in an NBA Finals game. Five teams have had 6 players with multiple 3PT FGs made previously, most recently the Miami Heat last year, on June 4, 2023, v Denver.

Kristaps Porzingis scored 18 points in the first half of Game 1 of the NBA Finals after having not played in both the Conf. Semifinals and Conf. Finals. It is the most points by a player in Game 1 of The Finals after having missed the previous two rounds since the league transitioned to a 16-team format in 1984.

Previously, the most points by a player who fit these qualifiers was 7 points, by Andre Iguodala (GSW v BOS on June 2, 2022).

Luka Doncic is just the 10th player to have a 30-point double-double in their NBA Finals debut. He’s the first to do so since Tim Duncan had 33 points and 16 rebounds in the 1999 NBA Finals on June 16, 1999.

  1. Luka the biggest cry baby in the league he couldn’t play in the earlier 2000s he would be on the floor crying after every play bro gets to pouting crying throw in his hands in the ear thsn he tries to get in the refs ear after every play he looks at the refs hoping hey call a foul

  2. Every possession for the Mavs is 1 on 1 and highly contested by the defense. The Celtics are moving the ball around and getting everyone involved. Boston going to win in 5

  3. I've been saying these the whole time. It's all about match ups. Celtics guards and wings just match up better against this Dallas team. If it were Denver or Wolves which have dominant bigs, it would be much harder for the Celts

  4. The refs won this game for the Celtics. I'll never watch again. They sold so hard the first half, that the Mavs had basically no chance in the second. Good luck NBA, an already sinking ship that now cemented it for me.

  5. Everybody riding the kp wave is fake lol 😂 and the Celtic were playing chess the whole time by acting like kp was hurt just to by time

  6. Mavs got by with the refs help in every game in the last series. If they call the games fair, this will be a Boston sweep

  7. Boston knew what the hell they were doing Porzingis didn't play in the Cleveland series and didn't play in the Pacers series Porzingis might be the X-Factor in this series ☘️💯🏀

  8. Ppl gonna say Celtics arent having a game like this again must have not watched the regular season 😂 Celtics didnt even shoot well from 3 too

  9. Kyrie needs to lick lucky’s logo clean on the floor to break the curse 🤣
    C’s in 4 it’s a sweep outa Dallas 🧹

  10. Luka needs to understand they play a different tempo this won't be an isolated game distribute the ball more trust the team give the team more confidence Celtics are out for blood JB locked in and Porzingis needs to be contained or this will be a quick series still may the Best Team Win 🏆 I'm proud of this year's NBA regardless it was a different caliber than before I'm intrigued again shit was monotonous for awhile

  11. Always funny seeing Luka cry like a bitch when he doesnt get fouls. Hands on his knees crying around after that steal

  12. It saddens me to think of the career Porzingis could have had if he could just stay healthy. He'd be in the legends convo.

  13. I thought Luka was gunna be the best player on the floor and carry the Mavs to a win?????????? What happened Dallas?!?!?!?! It's still FUCK KYRIE over here.

  14. The game would have been a lot closer if the mavs could shoot that game. Luka was keeping the team afloat until the end. The fact that Jayson tatum had less than 20 pts and had 6 turnovers and the celtics almost won by 20 shows how tough this team is to beat. The mavs have a lot to unfold.

  15. I don’t care what your girls tell you. Size matter, the Celtics have it one through six. They will make this series difficult for Luka & Kyrie. Celtics in 5. They split the home games vs the Mavs and close it out at the garden. Winning the last game by 25.

  16. lively getting called for those weak fouls during the mavs’ run + kyrie disasterclass allowed boston to run away with this win twice in the same game

  17. Boston's #4 ranked defense (Mavs are #15), and the return of Porzingus is going to be tough for Dallas to overcome!
