state-ofthe-art but it’s not just for the Spurs they’re inviting the public to take part in a lot of events or a lot of activities and in this case the Spurs have announced that there’ll be a new Spurs theme outdoor basketball court coming to that facility the Rock at lock Anda it’s going to be open for the public for pickup game shoot around free play just a heads up though it is only half court so yeah they’re really getting the community involved in that facility get out there go over there once it’s open have some fun it’s not the only thing new there they open up a new restaurant they have uh swap meets there they have viewing parties there it’s a big reason for you to go out there to the Rock and here’s another reason for you to go play some hoops with your fellow San antonians um just maybe not in the heat though it’s really really hot outside but maybe in the evening hours uh but anyway go check it out once it’s open in other Spurs news you if you just happen to have $12,000 laying around you could have bought yourself a uh Victor Miama Jersey yeah exactly what you heard Spurs with yeah his jersey worn on his birthday last season it’s a game against the Bucks Spurs lost but he had a good game 20 plus points uh nine n 10 rebounds well his jersey from that game went up an auction at soube and it sold for $120,000 that’s a lot of cash uh it blew out the projection estimate I think the project estimate had around 30 or 50,000 so yeah top of that but yeah I mean jerseys from wimy or just anything wimy is is just a hot item a lot of collectors are trying to get that even his Funko Pop I mean fans are getting them left and right showing them off on social media but yeah she $120,000 that is a lot of cash there other Spurs news uh Basketball Hall of Famer and Boston Celtics great Paul Pierce was a guest on Undisputed on Fox Sports and he um gave his answer to the question who is the most gifted player in today’s NBA and he went home with Victor Wim Bama yeah and he did not stop there he just kept on all saying well we never seen something like this before you know it’s out of this world alien thing uh you know he is you can’t duplicate him it’s a great great great uh listen uh and you go check it out at kfi.com Spurs go check it out there it’s it’s it’s available right now and yeah so more accolades this from a Basketball Hall of Famer Paul Pierce himself saying wimy is the most gifted player in the NBA and finally a former spur Robert Ory he was a guest on San Antonio sports star and they were talking about the point guard spot and interesting enough he said yes the Spurs do need point card that is not a problem they need to address that but it doesn’t have to be a veteran said no you don’t have to go be looking for a veteran point guard you just need a guard G find wmy not be the man not look for his touches and get wimy the ball which led me to think like won’t they have that already with Trey Jones he is a veteran he is a point guard he was the best facilitator with Wy stats proved it but you know the Spurs may look elsewhere I think what’s hurting is his lack of outside shooting if he can just get that going maybe the Spurs don’t have to look far their own backyard and the point guard slot is filled there you have it some quick Spurs news and knows that you may have missed coming up next Jack Thompson former New San Antonio sportstar we’re going to be putting into Spotlight Dalton connect yes the Tennessee forward should the Spurs go after and then discuss your comments over at the draft right now I mean Jack is just I wish man yeah he’s our go-to guy for all things Spurs Draft Prospects lottery draft stuff all that good stuff who you need to know heading into the draft we go to Jack Thompson why is he here today we’re g to be putting Dalton connect in the hot sea now he is I’m assuming he’s projected to be top 10 pick Jack so theoretically he could go to the Spurs at 4 or8 correct yeah definitely I around I think eight is I would love to get him at eight I think that’d be a great choice for us at eight awesome yeah we’re going be getting into him a little scan report on him and then talk about you guys lock on Spurs fans what are youall talking about over at the comment section of the YouTube page so let’s dive into it Dalton connect first thing that jumps out of me fouryear college kid I like that he comes in mentally and physically ready for the NBA a rarity in today’s NBA draft world uh Jack your thoughts yeah I mean he’s completely different from all the other prospects we’ve broken down so far he spent two years at jco two years at a small D1 and his final season at at Tennessee where he was you know unanimous uh First Team all whatever NCAA he was the SEC player of the year he’s a he’s had a pretty fantastic rise from Joo to now NBA draft lottery Prospect so yeah big fan of of Dalton connect he’s he’s this year’s version of of haime Haw is in the draft he’s the old old guy been around a while in college but I think he’s GNA jump right into the NBA and and yeah um you mened the Joo thing yeah two years with Joo and then um I believe you know some of the measurements I have them right here from the combine not too bad 6 fo5 Barefoot uh 8 inch uh Seven 8 inch standing reach uh 212 pounds 69 wingspan so he definitely fits the M of what the NBA teams looking for and for the Spurs but what do you think if the Spurs would select him why do you think they would select him what do you think he would bring to the team shooting right away shooting shooting shooting shooting he he’s a career 38% three-point shooter for his college career last year he shot upward a 40% he’s just he’s I mean it’s him or Reed Shepard are the two best Shooters in the draft and you could argue say it’s it’s connect because he’s got the body of work behind him while Reed has just the one year uh like you said Dalton conect 65 guard forward big body he’s super super athletic too he he will absolutely put you in the rim he’s got between a 35 and 40 inch vertical at that with that big body uh he’s a great shooter stand still or off you know off the dribble he was you know the primary scorer for the Tennessee uh volunteers he averaged like about 21 points a game he’s he’s ready for the NBA he’s going to come in and that shooting is immediately going to translate and he he’s G to immediately be one of the best Shooters on the team that he he’s lucky to be drafted by so I think yeah DTA connect at the eighth spot for the Spurs is definitely he’s high on my board for that pick and I guess it goes without saying because this is wm’s world he fits with wimy and what they might be looking for as far as building the team around him you’re thoughts yeah I mean you can never have enough Shooters in this day and age and what we’re trying to do is space the floor out for wimy give him a lot of room to work with and there’s no one better in the draft that you can plug and play than Dalton connect that can do that because yeah he’s going to be immediately a nohel guy meaning you’re not going to be able to help off of him or he’s going to get that shot up and more than likely he’s going to make it because he’s he’s such a talented shooter so yeah I think he definitely fits in that in that had a squad with wimy for sure but I think you can plug him in on any squad and he’s going to be a fit right away because guards multiple positions good positional rebounder best shooter in the draft you know High basketball IQ guy because he’s got so many games under his belt yeah I think he’s just an immediate plug-and-play guy that can come in and produce at a high level yeah reading some of the SC reports on him some words that used to describe him Relentless attacking always in attack mode uh can hit floaters you know catches it on the perimeter what else they even say that he takes care of the ball he only averag about 1.4 turnovers uh during his career uh or his college career so and that he can mix it up in the post so he what would you slot him at is he a two guard is he a three four you know is he switchable uh I would say he’s a two or a three I mean you be realist in the NBA he maybe he can guard some fors depending on who’s out there in the lineup but positionally he’s a two or a three that you know if a team goes small ball or you decide to go small ball sure you can put him in at that you know stretch four but I think traditionally he’s going to be the two or the three yeah he suffered a uh an ankle injury during um his college career looked like pretty serious but it looks like he’s bounced back from that and uh you know is ready for the NBA um we kind of mentioned it you know is he a top 10 player to pick in this draft do you foresee that maybe he could go even higher than eight do you think he can slip down oh you know this draft is just all over the map what where do most mocks have him slotted at yeah most mocks have him slotted between like eight and 14ish I think is probably where he’s going to go uh a lot of teams you know they still kind of steer clear of that uh you know older guy not as much untapped potential it’s kind of rounded out into basically the player he’s going to be for the majority of his career um but I yeah I mean he’s definitely a lottery guy there’s no doubt about it I think he’s definitely going to get picked in that mid to late Lottery and what Trevor team has you know decides to pull the trigger on Dalton connect I’ve got a feeling he’s going to be a 10 15E Pro I mean he’s got he’s just a really solid player he with his shooting ability it’s just going to immediately be able to bring him into the NBA and like you said it’s it’s not just shooting he can get to the rim he’s got a good float game he can mid post on smaller players and he if he if he blows by you whoever’s guarding the rim watch out because you know 66 with a 69ine wingspan yeah 212 pounds and he’s got an explosive vertical leap he’s looking to put anybody in the rim and everybody so he’s he’s a very intriguing Prospect I mean the only knock on him I would say is defensively he can be a little slow of foot if he’s it’ll be tougher for him to guard quick guards if he’s playing that you know that that uh shooting guard role and you know the age Factor that’s always a thing he’s 23 he’s definitely you know got more more tread on the tires than a lot of these younger guys but he’s gonna be a a really good Pro for a long time yeah he turns 23 soon so he’s 22 years old right now which is considered old by NBA standards even though it’s not in real life considering that Edwards is only 22 been in the leag for four years now so yeah but uh yeah he’s 22 years old uh you know it’s so odd to read you read the SC reports they have that as a weakness 22 years old you know but other thing too is do you question perhaps that he was a man among boys and maybe the numbers are inflated a bit into the draft or you know it is what it is that was a competition he has to play you know again because you got to wonder well he is older he stayed there four years well at least four years in in college youo and college but that could be you know something kind of like H well can he handle competition at his or higher level also to again you know the scan reports you know you take it for a grain of salt but they say that he does not really he’s not really physical is he more of a finesse player what do you think yeah he’s certainly more a finesse player he’s not really trying to you know mix it up physically uh but you know the NBA it is definitely lessened as a physical game it’s much more finesse skill game so I’m not really worried about that as far as the man amongst boys I mean he went I believe he went to like North Dakota State or South Dakota state it was one of those those schools where he he transferred to after Jo and his F final season there he averaged 20 points a game he moved up all the way into the SEC one of the best conferences in basketball and he averaged his numbers were better shooting percentage was better he averaged you know like at almost two more points a game the rebounds went down but you know he wasn’t playing down low as much as he was you know at a whatever the small school he was at before they had the size and Sid to where he didn’t really need to rebound but you know the fact that his numbers escalated when he transferred up to a much more difficult conference tells me I don’t I don’t really buy into that man amongst boys thing this kid’s just he’s just an allout Hooper man he’s just all about the buckets he had multiple 30 and 40 point games this year he’s just he’s a supreme scorer in every sense of the word when it when it came to college basketball last year so no I don’t think he was just a man amongst boys I think he was just better than the rest yeah actually I think the the two years at juk it was with the University of Northern Colorado so and and then where did he go going to where did he was the uh the college he went to after the Jo after the Joo um okay after Joo it was University of Northern Colorado and then he played his final year Tennessee oh nor4 yeah Northern Colorado yeah U but you know he comes in decorated you know H I think says here uh with Northern Colorado keep that in mind you know he won the scoring title averaging about 2.2 points per game uh you know he was he earned first team uh Juke All-American recognition at juko level uh so but you know for me I let’s get to it you know should this first draft him I well I would not be upset if they draft him at eight but I think I’d be upset if draft him at four what do you think about that you hear called at four yeah yeah at four I will be really really questioning what Brian is thinking because I mean he would have he’s absolutely going to be there at eight maybe he gets picked at 76 maybe he does I I doubt it but yeah that four is is way too high for dalon connect while he’s a very good player the guys you’re drafting you know hopefully in the top five are guys that might sniff an All-Star vid at some point you know might be a Cornerstone of your franchise and Dalton connect will be a supreme role player for the Spurs uh down the stretch if we do draft him and definitely could be part of a championship team but he’s never going to be you know it’ll be very shocking if he blows up into an All-Star can say but if the Spurs take him at I would not be upset about that overall I do like his maturity mentally and physically I do like the way he spreads the floor I think yeah you mentioned you know he would punish Defenders if they double or triple wimy and wimy finds them uh you know I think he would fit in with the Spurs culture system and I think pop could actually appreciate a four-year guy you know maybe he’s not Tim Duncan but hey you know Tim D wasn’t a bad player you know and he came in four years D conect same thing uh especially considering this is a young Spurs team he would Auto be automatically one of the oldest that’s how crazy it is so I think that is a good injection of it defense will come I think pop can get him into that over brall Jack if the Spurs Su him at eight I’m gonna give it a thumbs up yeah the SP should do it your thoughts yeah definitely uh the pick at eight he’s perfect for that position like I’ve said already he’s an immediate guy you can plug in and play he’s going to come in he’s going to shoot the ball at an elite level he’s going to defend you know he’s a high level IQ guy he’s going to come in he’s going to understand things he’s ready to put in the work you know he’s five years in college he knows what the grind is about so and he’s elevated himself which is truly impressive to go from jco to the Big Sky be all Big Sky first team Big Sky player of the year and then he jumps an even grander level into the SEC gets the Tennessee Volunteers they’re one of the best teams in the nation he’s the best player on that team all consensus SEC all consensus All-American you know he’s all all he’s done is Elevate his play and and and the the bright lights of a gr under stage have not shied him away from doing so and I do not expect that to happen in the NBA as well I think he’s going to have a great career in the NBA and whichever team chooses to draft him is definitely drafting a good player that it will be immediately ready to come in and put in the work and produce on the court there you have it our thoughts on Dalton connect first to selective at least at 8 look sounds like we’re going to give it a thumbs up if it’s at 8 yeah thumbs up day yeah coming up next we got your comments what are y’all talking about over at the lock on Spurs YouTube page oh hey this is Morty Smith and I ge you are listening to lock on Spurs with Jeff Garcia a cheese and we’re back right here lock on Spurs with Jack Thompson follow mon X jackor Thompson he is formerly with San Antonio sports star so uh yeah he’s our go-to guy for all things draft draft analysis but right now it’s about you guys the lockon Spurs YouTube fans what are yall talking about over there all right the big topic right now is topic yes um Jack got a chance to talk to topic recently and um you know he told me that he he didn’t have any type of interaction with the Spurs at least as far as the exos and workouts and whatnot but all that he told me was Spurs doctors inquired about his health so before I bring up the comment what do you think about topic is his stack is his stock just plummeting at this point I do think that the injury is is causing his stock to drop a little bit I mean I’m a huge fan of topic I think he’s a fantastic guard you asked me three months ago he’s probably at the top of my board for who I want the Spurs to get it for but man just the the two knee injuries in the matter of months just really scares me he’s he’s a supreme point guard extremely high IQ he gets to all the spots get all his teammates open he struggles when it comes to shooting but man he’s a big bodyguard that really really understands the game of basketball and knows how to bend the game to his will which is what we see from a lot of those uh European high IQ players uh I’m definitely a big fan and I think he can he can pan out to be definitely a very good player in the NBA the knee injury just scares me and I know all of his tests have come come back great everyone saying his knee is structurally sound but man tearing your ACL at such a young age it just worries me about the wear and tear that it could cause for the future and how it could affect his career down the line and that scares me when you’re drafting in the top five yeah um but again he’s going to be a good NBA player I’m I’m not saying anything about his game is why I don’t want to get him it’s it’s literally the the injury history as of right now that scares me away from him well that’s exactly what Ramon pelang was talking about over at the lockdown Spurs YouTube page he says quote looks like topic came back before the knee had fully recovered from his first injury so he’s having a reaction to that uh you think he just topa just came back too soon it’s hard to say I mean I don’t know exactly what the grade of his injury was when he went out but I mean if you come back and you immediately heard it again then the answer is probably yes you you probably came back a little too soon um he’s 19 going to heal up just fine but it’s the you know what happens you know five years down the road after he’s got you know 300 NBA games under his belt what does that knee look like then when you know we’re really gonna be pushing hopefully the Spurs for you know Championship what’s his knee going to look like what’s that wear and tear going to be on his knee so that’s really what I’m thinking when drafting him like down the road what is his health going to be like and is it going to be is he just going to get that knee more more fragile and more Fragile with the more tires he put with more where he puts on those tires so yeah yeah I’m kind of steering it clear from steering away from topic when it comes to this draft unfortunately and and not to mention too he’s goingon to get older and and there’s his body weight is going to get heavier and um you multiply that times the records of the NBA season yeah could could possibly turn out to be a bad thing all right the next comment comes from Christopher bradio he has an issue with you jack about the read Richard’s topic we discussed recently he says quote Shephard is like McDermot give me a break please draft Rob Dillingham who I promise will be a Kyrie Irving Trey young and topic will be a bust thank you for that comment uh Christopher uh looks like he doesn’t see the vision as you do Jack when it comes to Shephard he says don’t go shepher go rob Dillan what do you think I don’t quite remember pomping him to Doug mcder I think we both said he was a hybrid of TJ McConnell and and JJ reick I don’t think either of us yeah we would not comp a point guard to a stretch four forward so I don’t remember us doing that but hey I mean if if Rob Dillingham is your guy then that’s perfectly fine but Kyrie Trey young level I mean I mean he’s definitely nowhere near the shooter Trey is coming out of college he’s you know much smaller than Kyrie Irving and he does not have the point guard skills that Kyrie Irving has he has tremendous scoring ability off the bounds especially when it comes to you know mid-range jumpers he’s a fantastic scorer at the college level but I’m just very much worried about him being swallowed up by larger guards that are guarding him in the NBA I just I don’t see it I don’t see him as a point guard he’s a combo you know combo guard and for me we need a guy who’s going to be setting the table for wimy and I’m not trying to wait for Rob Dillingham to develop into a point guard we’ve seen that experiment with Jeremy soan last year it did not go as well as we had H as we had you know hoped and planned and I’m not trying to uh develop a 19-year-old for three or four years so he’s finally a a point guard that’s just I don’t think that’s in the cards for the Spurs I don’t think we I uh that’s the right plan to go down forest I want a if we’re drafting a guard I want a guy who’s already a point guard who knows how to set up the offense who knows how to you know run the pick and roll and set up the big for easy buckets so they don’t have to work very hard that’s the kind of guard that I’m looking for for the Spurs and Rob Dillingham yeah he’s he’s electric he’s a fantastic scorer he hits incredibly tough jump shots but how many guys have we seen from college that that translates to the NBA at an extremely high rate when you’re 61 170 pounds like Steph Curry is the only one and I guess Trey young those are the only ones in the league right now that that has worked out for them and Steph 63 Trey is you know probably six foot but can shoot from the logo automatically Dillingham doesn’t have that that shooting prowess from Beyond The Arc that his Sox right now yeah that’s just it’s just not the type of player he is and I do not see him comping to Trey young or Kyrie Irving maybe Lou Williams I I’ll give him Lou Williams I could see Rob D Dillingham becoming that or Jamal Crawford but yeah I don’t see the other two you know you’re you’re kind of you’re no not you’re kind of you are agreeing with Robert Ory Robert Ory was recently a guest on San Antonio sports star your old stamping ground and he F out said though number one thing this team needs is a point guard and he said it does not have to be a veteran point guard what what do he said he said hey it you just need a guy who knows his role and can feed wimy and and that’s about it you that’s all you need so he’s like I’m not the guy he’s the guy and you need that in in a point guard which begs kind of the question don’t they already have that with Trey Jones don’t kind I mean a veteran he is a veteran he is a point guard he was the best I guess facilitator for Wy last season is he sitting their own backyard right now or you still don’t think Trey Jones is not it I just I love Trey Jones he’s a fantastic point guard he’s one of the best assist to turnover ratio players in the NBA the only thing is he can’t shoot I mean yeah when he’s on the floor he’s he’s not an offensive threat really whatsoever if it’s outside of you know 15 feet or him yeah getting to a floater or around the room he’s just I can’t even tell you how many games came down to the wire with Trey young Trey Jones open wide open in the corner for a big three and unfortunately he just he clanks it off the rim I think he’s a fantastic point guard I mean he D’s up 94 feet he sets the table for all the players on offense he’s a fantastic leader but I’m just not sure he’s a starter and there’s nothing wrong with that I mean TJ McConnell brother tus Jones there are guards out there across the league that who are fantastic players but sometimes you’re just not a starter and there’s no shame in that because you’re still in the NBA you’re still one of the best in the world and not everybody can be the best and be one of the best five players on their team so I just while I want he’s a fantastic spur if we kept him around for the Long Haul I would have no quarrel with that CU he’s going to come in and do the work night in and night out and make everybody around him better but but I just don’t think he’s the starter for a championship team look at Jack Thompson see he gets fired up around this time of the year when he sees draft right around the corner he starts evaluating rosters especially the Spurs and how they can players they can plug and play but hey everybody we thank you for leaving those comments in the lockdown Spurs YouTube page keep them coming we’ll read them throughout the offseason hey we’re done talking we want to hear from you what do you think about the prospect Dalton connect the Spurs grab him if he’s available on the board at eight maybe not four but at eight uh leave your thoughts about that and also what are your fans your fellow fans talking about you got somebody who’s doesn’t not sold on topit they’re not really sold on you know Jack’s apparently comp to Doug mcder I don’t recall that happening but hey yeah we don’t know and Rob Dillingham so we all thank you for uh just reacting to that so keep those comments coming you can talk to Jack onx Jack Tompson I’m sorry jackor Thompson 33 make sure you do that right now the days are ticking away tiing away 20 days down 20 days down yeah yeah draft in two days this year yeah I think that’s ridiculous you could do this in one day you don’t have to do it for two days yeah no one’s gonna watch round two on the second day exactly exactly you already got people there the audience tied in and one shot just just do it just knock it out but we’re not done with Jack we’re not doing jack he’ll likely be back next week we’ll put another player in the spotlight with the Spurs could theoretically draft we’re not going something wild like they’re drafting someone so SAR cuz s likely would be gone by then yeah but we’re going to try to find players that we’re looking at people between three and 10 in the big boards in the big boards yes we’re looking at that so Jack will be back next week we just got to figure out a time when Jack is available but he has to go to worker but it’s we’re going to let him go and we thank y’all for making lock those Spurs your first listen each and every day free and available where we get Podcast and we’ll be back Monday With our two picks, we need some combination of Zacharrie Risacher, Stephon Castle, Ron Holland, and Tidjane Salaun.
Knecht is a good player, but just not a good fit for the Spurs, because he is not a very good defender.
Not sure which channel i was on but i heard Dillingham compared to Kyrie. How do you feel about this comp?
Castle and Knecht provide a nice balance. Dalton over Rob.
I prefer Knecht he’s a better shooter from anywhere on the floor.
HELL NO we dont want lalton leckht
Castle and Dilli
