The Raptors Are Eyeing A ‘SERIOUS’ Trade On Draft Night
the Toronto Raptors are preparing to be Fielding some serious offers on draft night and it’s about to make one of their previous trades look even better let’s get into it yes draft night is going to provide the Raptors some incredibly interesting opportunities first of all with the 19th overall pick where they’re going to be able to find hopefully some good talent to supplement the core that is already in place with the team to recover from the disappointing season that was the 2324 season and some even more Intrigue should be coming towards Raptors fans as a result of some of the latest reports coming out about the potential of what that 31st overall pick could become for the team because that 31st overall pick not only could that bring it in another player of interest for the Raptors that could land the Raptors a serious trade and the Raptors are expecting to be discussing with multiple teams in regards to that selection for a number of reasons which we’re going to outline over the course of today’s video while also acknowledging what the Raptors could actually get in return for the pick but this is amateur sports the YouTube channel completely dedicated to Toronto Raptor content and we’ll do it in videos like this as well as live streams on the channel make sure you drop a like if you enjoy subscribe for more Raptors content and help us in the road to 18,000 Subs so how did the Raptors come into possession of this 31st overall pick this incredibly interesting pick here well this was as part of the OG anobi trade with the New York Knicks which added on quite a bit of interest to this trade in particular not only did the Raptors get back RJ Barrett and Emanuel quickley who have been playing very well for the Raptors in their half season with the team they also got a second round pick via the Detroit Pistons which we knew at the time was something that had a very good chance of being the first pick of the second round now typically second round picks don’t really mean much but why this pick means a lot more than it has had in previous years is because if you don’t know for the first time ever the NBA draft is going to be held on multiple nights it’s going to be uh two day occasion so rather than having all 60 picks go down on one date they’re going to do the first round on one night and the second round on another night so the Raptors have the first pick for the second night of the draft and with that there’s going to be what 22 hours 21 hours in which teams could be interested in landing that 31st overall pick for a number of reasons and as I said reports are coming out from the athletic and even discussions from raptor assistant general manager Dan Tolman he’s the lead Scout with the team who’s mentioned that this offers an interesting wrinkle for the Raptors to explore over the course of that day a full day to field any sort of negotiation for this trade teams will have longer to process hey a player that we expected to go a lot higher is still available let’s go and na at 31st overall or potentially somebody like bronny James could add a lot of intrigu and interest to this pick there is still a very wide range of speculation as to where bronny James will end up up being drafted I personally don’t think he should be drafted at all but teams are interested for various reasons if they feel as though hey let’s go get the 31st overall pick guarantee ourselves bronny James in the draft that could be something that teams look to explore now why this is more prant this year than other years because you know obviously there’s other years at any point you can trade for that pick there’s no timer here there’s no short like 10-minute countdown for a decision to be made for this pick teams have so much time to process what they actually want to accompl accomplished with this pick and actually what sort of value they can get out of the pick that now they can strike a deal that they’re more confident and the Raptors have more time to field these negotiations and you know when it comes to Messiah jiri he’s going to try to maximize every bit of value everywhere that he can and that could also rain through for the 31st overall pick now I said in the intro it’s going to make this trade look a whole lot better and it does make that New York Knicks trade for OG and Obi look a whole lot better because it just adds to the Intrigue and adds to the value of that Detroit Piston second round pick that we received in the trade for OG anobi I mean fortifying this trade as as definitely a win for the Raptors you’d call it a win-win trade for sure it will depend if OG Ed anobi does resign with the New York Knicks but this is definitely a win on the side of the Raptors that has gotten even greater but even though I mentioned it made one trade look better it kind of makes another trade the Raptors had made previously look even better as well and that was a trade with the Utah Jazz that brought o abaji and Kell Lin to the team now a big sticking point with raptor fans when this trade went down was that the Raptors had to give give up a first round pick in order to make this happen fans were upset about giving away a first round pick the first round pick that was given away was essentially it was the pick that was the worst of the picks between I think it was Houston the Clippers and OKC it ended up being OKC who finished as the second seed in the NBA and it became the 29th overall pick so the Raptors gave away yes a first round pick to bring in k l and oi iagi that was a good trade regardless but when you consider the valuation of now this 31st overall pick compared to 29th overall pick even if the draft was a onday occasion where there’s no added benefit of additional time for the second night of the draft which is the start of the second round you have to consider that the 31st overall pick you have a lot higher degree of flexibility with contracts and with the finances associated with the player you select compared to the 29th overall pick even so you could already make a case that a 31st overall pick is more valuable than a 29th overall pick now the additional benefit of the draft being on both nights makes it very clear that trading away that 29th overall pick was much smarter than trading away that 31st overall pick so the aaji and oin trade looks better the OG anobi trade for RJ Barrett and a minut quickly looks better and the Raptors can continue to add on some value with the 31st overall pick if they do choose to trade it so let’s try and figure out exactly what sort of valuation you’re going to get in this position so typ typically with early second round picks you can’t expect a world out of them but if you look at like in recent history you know some of the players that have got in this sort of range you look at a player like Andrew nard and the Indiana Pacers who was at he was selected at this stage by the Indiana Pacers he had such a significant role on route to a confer finals appearance for the Pacers you can get good players like this we think about the Raptors in recent history Christian Koko was a 33rd overall pick now obviously the health factors that have derailed his career are are no fault of the Raptors with the draft pick it’s an incredibly unfortunate situation but I think Christian Koka was trending upwards as somebody who could become part of the latter stages of the rotation I mean certainly look at the Raptors team right now they could definitely use a player like chrisan Koko on the squad again it’s just a complete shame that the every everything kind of went the way it did as far as his health was I wish nothing but the best for his health but what you want to get out of a player in this position is somebody who in a few years time or even like out the gate if you want to go for a player who’s more polished one of the more senior players in the draft you want to find a player who can be a part of maybe like the the eighth or ninth or even just the 10th Man in your rotation somebody that is going to still give you something but doesn’t have to put much into your team on a Nights night basis somebody’s got a specific skill set that aids the team in the rotation but again you’re not really dreaming of the world in this position and again there are a number of teams who might feel as though their guy is still there at 31st overall they might see the last 10 picks the first round come and go and their guys still being on the board and feel like hey maybe we can really make a move here and find a guy that could fit in with this team and we’ve got a whole night and a whole other day to try and figure this one out what sort of value can he get for a player like that at 31st overall look we’re not getting the world here the Raptors are going to make some Blockbuster monster trade here but could some additional assets come into the team could some future picks maybe two seconds down the line come into the team team is that a better way for the Raptor to maximize his 31st overall pick rather than actually using it that’s what we’re going to find out when it comes to the draft at the end of the month in June but regardless this 31st overall pick whether or not the Raptors want to use the pick or want to trade it it’s still looking like a great deal with the New York Knicks that could as well get even better with this interesting wrinkle as Dan tossman put it so how do you feel about this 31st overall pick do you think the Raptors should push to trade it should they actually use to pick CU they need more players give me your thoughts and opinions in the comments down below cuz that’s it for me for today drop a like if you did enjoy the video make that 31st pick is a conversation starter with teams and that's all you really need sometimes im sure Masai is going to do some more trades I won't be surprised if he trades up into the top 10 honestly
Incredible spin!
if they can get a player and some picks that would be awesome
If They Get A Good Offer Trade Consider It If Their Is A Player They Want Use It
Massai will do what he always does NOTHING….He will draft someone at 19 & 31.
NOTHING else.
.
Very interesting take.
if the player is there then go ahead n draft
Lakers worked out with Ryan Dunn who is expected to be drafted at 31th. Prob there will be trade with Lakers like 17th, JHS and filler(most liekly Rui) <> Brown and 31th.
Justin Edwards in the very late first or early second would be my vote, he needs time to mature but his ceiling is higher than most around those draft slots
Spinning.
Bronny james would flourish in Toronto not as much stress from the media. He could play on tje raptors 905 and develop
Raps can draft all they want they really need to add via free agency
31 st pick should never be topic of conversation
unless ur selling something.
Signing talented free agents should be only question. Stop the smoke screening
We are not funding people who beat around the bush,.. Time is precious and we want to see a fix that is on time and intelligent. Why do you need to talk about trading picks. Go pick ur pick and STHUP. Drama in a team is not except able..
I don't agree with the wording here, nothing connects every situation u start at zero and evacuate that moment . This is a draft moment and you better draft 2 players or find new job
And og is eligible to resign back with the raps come July 6th I believe haha could we really fleece NY 😂
We need 1 lottery pick this year!!!
