The Bulls Are Looking to Trade UP for Matas Buzelis?? Good or Bad?

so after the other day when we received a report that the Bulls are potentially exploring options to move up in the draft to select the big man out of Yukon and Donovan kingan which I made a video on that in my hesitation of trading up not only for a player like kingan but trading up in this particular draft as a whole feel free to check it out Link in the description but more recently and this coming from the same Source at Draft Express to say that the Bulls have shown a willingness to move up in the draft to select Matas pelis who is a Chicago native big Power Forward at 6 9 200 lb with a wingspan of 610 play for the G League at night last season was the number seven overall recruit coming out of high school his draft projection or projected range has really varied with some mock drafts having him as high as three While others have him falling all the way to you guessed it number 11 which is where the Bulls will be selecting now of course we don’t know how true this report is but evidently the Bulls have done a private workout with him in La which would tell you there is interest there of course there is the Chicago connection with him being from the area and which I think is less important but something to note bellus is also Lithuanian which of course AK is as well but either way I have some thoughts I wanted to share so what’s going on everyone you’re listening to Bull Central here hope you’re all doing well uh guys NBA Finals is in full swing how about game one the other night my prediction for the Mavs winning in six now is not looking so great with the way the Celtics dominated that game but the reason I bring it up is because it’s one of your last chances to get in on the action at Underdog fantasy and they’re updated killer offer where you can get up to $250 upon your first deposit as well as a free pick in the lobby when you sign up to improve your chances of hitting on your NBA pickups they’re going to have pickups for every Finals game where you can pick higher or lower on most player stats and win up to 100 times your money for every game so check it out link to the site and the code is in the description if you’re interested now obviously I mentioned this in a recent video discussing the Bulls moving up uh to get Donovan Kling in and I just don’t think I can emphasize this enough that this is not the type of draft class you trade up to get a player that you want like this draft is going to be the definition of a Sho I don’t think there’s a single player from this class that you can say is a sure thing now it’s possible that you could have a number of solid players coming out of this class maybe even future stars and they’re going to prove everyone wrong about this being the weakest draft class in 25 years but the fact of the matter is when you look at this class and assess the talent assessing it at this point in time there is no definitive player where you can say oh yeah this guy is it he’s a player we’re going to build around if there was that type of player in this draft then sure be aggressive and try trading up in the draft to get that guy but trading away future assets for a draft class that has been wildly unpredictable and knowing that it’s very likely you could get a solid prospect that could slide to 11 and you don’t have to give up anything to get that player to me it just doesn’t make sense you keep the pick and you see what’s available or if anything you trade down to try and get some additional assets because again who knows you might actually hit on a mid to late first rounder in this draft like there was a recent report that came out that Ron Holland is sliding big time in draft positioning going from being a top five pick the number two overall recruit in his high school class they’re saying it’s very possible he falls out of the lottery and could go as late as 17 if you can get a player like Holland who has a lot of upside at 17 that’s a steal but yeah my point is there will be solid prospects available and because this draft has been so unpredictable you don’t know who might slide all the way to 11 that was maybe initially thought to be a top five pick all that said though I do find Bellis to be much more intriguing of a prospect than Donovan kingan because kingan’s draft projection is expected to be higher some saying he might go as high as the number one or number two pick you would likely have to give up more to trade up in the draft to get Kling in than you would otherwise need to give up for bis because buellis isn’t going to be top three kingan I would say there’s an 80% chance that he does go top three now again it all depends on what you would have to trade to move up to get Montas buellis even if it means moving up just a few spots like if it’s trading a future first round pick to move up no forget about it not worth it especially when the Bulls need all the draft picks they can get since they currently own their next year’s first Brown pick to the Spurs but say if it’s for a far future second rounder or maybe a player like Javon Carter Tory Craig not that I think that anybody wants those guys more so just saying if they’re inconsequential moves then yeah now we’re talking I don’t want to hear about trading Alex Caruso to get a higher draft pick in this draft class when Caruso has way more value than that in a trade should they look to trade him but either way for pelis I mean this could arguably be as good of a fit as any as far as the things that the Bulls need like kingan might be a little more polished a little more NBA ready but buellis in my opinion has more upside more toolsy he’s more well-rounded in his overall skills and again a big body player that gives you depth at the four melis is actually a very versatile offensive player because he can score at all three levels but is also a pretty gifted passer for his size some mock drafts have him listed as a point4 which of course the Bulls also need better passing and playmaking as they were one of the worst passing teams in the NBA last season generally speaking just high IQ players who have a good feel for the game which buellis does buellis can also create for himself which we’ve talked about before the Bulls need more shot creators outside of just dear de rzan and sometimes Kobe white I would say the biggest concern coming into the league for Montas pelis is a shooting because he actually shot the ball incredibly well from three in high school at over 40% and that was one of the things that made him stood out to most Scouts as a senior was his ability to spread the floor be that stretch four that can also playmake which is obviously something that is so highly coveted in the NBA but in his time on the g- league he shot the three ball very poorly at just 27% and of course that three-point line is only going to be moving back even further for him from his days in high school so there are a lot of question marks on whether his upside as a shooter will carry over into the NBA because the last thing we need is another big to shoot below 30% from Deep like we saw with Nicola vuich unlike Vu though he’s pretty athletic he’s quick agile he’s great at running the floor and transition which is music to the Bulls ears given they need to improve their overall pace and fast break play he can handle the ball well but also plays well off the ball as a catch and shoot threat I would say his biggest downsides are primarily his defense he’s a decent off ball Defender like he has good instincts when it comes to playing Help defense but one-on-one playing on ball defense not so much isn’t the best at getting through screens he often gets beat off the dribble by quicker players as his lateral quickness isn’t quite there so yeah the Bulls would need to figure out their defensive Wes especially if they’re going to play buis next to vvi I think the other thing is is you know what would happen with Patrick Williams in his role would he still start would they start Matas and have Pat come off the bench maybe they move Pat to the three like we saw in his rookie season and have Demar slide to the two if they do in fact trade Zack LaVine or maybe Demar walks and Pat plays the three and in that instance you know I’m not really sure all I know is buellis is an intriguing Prospect both the ringer and ESPN have said it’s very possible he could end up being the best player in this draft class when all is said and done he’s not going to be NBA ready like some of the other guys from this class he would be a project player which you would think the Bulls might not be interested in but at the same time they did draft jiam Phil D and Terry players they knew were not going to be ready and needed to be developed as raw Prospect so who knows at the end of the day though I still wouldn’t trade anything to move up in this draft because this isn’t the type of draft class that you trade up in but I would be more willing to trade up to get someone like Buel than Donovan kingham one because you likely don’t have to trade as much to get Buel as he isn’t slated to go as high as Donovan kingan is in this draft and for me personally I like what I’ve seen from Montas pelus as a prospect in future potential more than kingan I would love to hear what you guys think though let me know in the comments as always be sure to subscribe and I’ll see you in the next one

  1. I WAS WAITING FOR THIS LIKE 2 MINUTES AGO YESSIR JAMAL!! šŸŽ‰šŸ˜‚ā¤

  2. Just blow it up for goodness sake. Trading up for a player in this years draft would be foolish. Iā€™m so done with this cheap a** franchise. We are the worst ran nba franchise of this millenium

  3. First it was Clingan now for Buzelis šŸ˜‚ AKME won't do a damn thing and we all know it

  4. DAMN good if I say so myself. This dude is Andres Nocioni with Michael Jordan's swagger.

    I don't give a damn if he's playing in the G League.

At this point I'm looking for Diamonds in the rough….and I'm also for drafting Devon Carter if we were to lose Alex (in a trade), Zach and Demar.

Bulls need a SERIOUS infusion of DOG and SWAGGER.

  5. Protect Caruso at all costs. I do agree, Craig and Carter could definitely go. Impact was very lack luster in my onion. Especially from JC

  6. there is a case to be made that trading up in this draft could be cheap due to the overall talent level seemingly being lower than normal

  7. We donā€™t need scoring at the SF/PF position unless we trade Lavine or Derozan. The ideal player at the PF position would have to be be a legit PF (Williams is undersized) who can stretch, pick & pop, defend and rebound. There wonā€™t be much of a drop off in the rebounding department if Drummond walks. That player would also allow Williams to play the SF position. I would be looking for a PF or Center that can play behind Williams and replace Drummondā€¦ Size, rebounding and shooting are the boxes that need to be checked and he has to be a defense type player first. With all of that saidā€¦ The Front Office should be looking for a Precious Achiuwa or a Mark Williams type player. Keep in mind that Embiid , Giannis and Bam are in the East. Draft a big and trade for a wing like a Jones from NOLA.

  8. While I can understand not overpaying to trade up why are you scared for the Bulls to take a swing and draft a player in the top 5. You canā€™t say the talent being ā€œbadā€ is a good reason when thereā€™s been multiple drafts when that was said and it got proven wrong. Also I donā€™t think trading Caruso to move up is a bad idea if we can keep our #11 pick as well. Letā€™s say Zach nets you a pick in the 15-20 area you can package that with the Portland pick and maybe a Caruso to move up top 5 if the Bulls really have a guy. Idk about doing it for Matas but Clingan fits a big need I wouldnā€™t be too mad

  9. Hey, trade up. In my opinion, I'd rather get clingin in my opinion. And if we could get off demar and Caruso in the Rockets deal, then do it.

  10. We ARE NOT doing anything. They're leaking this crap to make it seem like Reinsdorf and company actually care, which they don't. Just look at the White Sox if you think Reinsdorf cares. That could be us.

  11. Just watching Buzelis, I think it's worth the risk. The upside is huge. Even if he ain't the guy, every second he's on the floor, he plays as if he is the guy.

  12. I have seen maybe 10,000 reports of the Bulls doing this or that every off-season and nothing ever happens my ninja!!! I bet nothing is gonna happen and itā€™s just another story planted in the media by the front office!!!!
