Assuming Hurley gets somewhere between the $13 million Monty Williams is being paid by Detroit annually and the $17 million that Steve Kerr gets as the NBA's highest-paid coach, that would likely be for about six or seven years.
As much as this decision is Dan's, it is also Andrea's. If she feels out of her comfort zone out in La La Land, no matter what kind of money the Lakers can throw at them, it's likely the Hurleys will remain in Glastonbury.
And it's not just Andrea. Hurley's parents still live in Jersey and get to as many UConn games as possible. Just ask Rick Pitino after last year's Big East Tournament. But ultimately, Andrea will have as much of a say in this decision as Dan.

Yea if Hurley doesn’t come is not going to be about money is definitely family. Best Lakers can do is try to accommodate the family as much as possible and hope it’s enough. Money won’t be an issue.
I hope Jeanie doesn’t use it as an excuse to cheap out on other parts of the organization (not like she needs an excuse lol)
I’ve lived in both LA and Connecticut. Trust me when I say… I think Andrea will be just fine.
If it takes $20M a yeqr to pass Kerr at $17M then do it. Get it done. There’s no salary cap for staff…yet.
I’m having flash backs of Coach K rejecting the Lakers.
Lakers have apparently given everything they’ve got. If dude and his family say no, I’m not mad at it. Family first and the Lakers put their best foot forward.
(I think he’s coming btw)
Absolutely perfect image for the article. Who wouldn’t be smiling and hugging after receiving that much guaranteed money?
Hell it ain’t my money
Well I hope this dude doesn’t get lost in the money and actually still cares about coaching
Tbh coaching lebron and ad should be the main reason he leaves college now. But you can never replace time with family, that’s invaluable , especially after the amount of money he has. NBA will always be there for him
This kind of money is absolutely going to affect how much they will spend on players. It shouldn’t but this ownership factors in everything.
I thought their kids were little ones but they’re all grown up now! What’s the hold up Andrea????

I don’t know about anyone else, but if I had an offer like that and I was a coach, my wife would be packing her and my stuff before I even sign the contract. If u turn down the lakers job and 100 million to live in jersey and be a college coach then I don’t know what to say. You may never get this opportunity again. To think a man’s wife had that much influence to me is crazy, kinda selfish if she doesn’t want him to do this, considering the opportunity is so big.
He has every reason to take the offer and it couldn’t be more of a perfect opportunity. If he says no it won’t be for anything other then his family wanting to stay East coast. He’ll still want to coach an NBA team at one point in his career, but even if it’s for an east coast team he’s still going to have to relocate.
Phil’s gonna call up Jeanie for 1 more year for this kind of money
wtf, seems like way too much to bet on a coach with 0 nba experience even with his amazing college resume
Jeanie and Rob needs to hook up the folks at Santa Monica or something
They’re good for it. That’s light work.
Can’t call the FO cheap if this is anywhere near the final deal
Who cares abt the money it doesn’t add to the cap
Hopefully the part that will sway his decision toward us is that “you can always coach college basketball”, or “you can always go back to UConn”, but the opportunity to not just coach in the NBA, but for one of the league’s marquee franchises, if not the most marquee franchise, is a once in a lifetime opportunity which won’t always be there. On the other hand, having a comfortable life in CT with a far lower cost of living and the opportunity to try for the first NCAA 3-peat since Wooden is also quite a draw. Going to be an interesting few days. UConn has practice on Monday, so I imagine he has to let people know what’s going on relatively soon.
