Luka for Trae: The Re-Grade 🤝
all right so we’re regrading the NBA’s biggest trades of all time and I don’t usually do draft night trades but this one has never been more relevant so as a reminder here are the full trade details of the 2018 draft night deal the Atlanta Hawks had the third pick and they absolutely loved Trey young who had just put up historic numbers as a freshman in Oklahoma and then the Mavs had the fifth pick and they loved Luca donic who had just been named the youngest MVP in Euro league history and so the Hawks basically figured okay we can still get our guy of five and we can get an extra first round pick sign me up and look no one really knows who’s going to be good in these drafts so more first round picks is usually a good thing look I’ve always been a Trey young guy I loved him at Oklahoma and he’s been everything the Hawks could have ever wanted but the problem is he’s just never going to be Luca so final grades at the time I thought this was a win-win but in hindsight I mean the Hawks got a franchise perennial Allstar and still got fleeced

Trae Young’s gonna have a super villain season next year. Him and Luka take turns one-upping each other. Luka made the playoff first, then Trae made the conf finals first. Now luka made the finals first. Love to see how Trae will respond to that 🔥
