Keys to Mavericks-Celtics NBA Finals Game 2 ๐Ÿ€ ‘Jaylen Brown is ON A MISSION!’ | SportsCenter

porzingis what a start in his finals debut way outside knocks down another Block in the rim chased down by porzingis and an unbelievable start for the Celtics oh what a slam from Jaylen Brown It’s a Celtic avalan a dominant first half for Boston the third quarter Dallas came out strong they cut it to eight at one point but the Celtics respond shot block jayen Brown a defensive demon Brown punch it in sus have had the answer every time NBA Finals they not going to go away easy we just had the response and Boston takes game one Speaking of responding will the Mavericks respond tonight after Boston dominated game one of the finals led by as many as 29 in rout to their eighth straight win in these playoffs it was their seventh playoff win this year by 15 or more the most in a postseason in Celtics franchise history do moula squad has only lost two games in this playoffs both coming in game twos compare that to a perfect 3 and0 for the Mavericks who have yet to lose backto back games this postseason something’s got to give the main reason for that Luca who averages 34 points for his career following a playoff loss the most all time he is the best player on the court as for the best player on the Celtics well that depends on who you ask what makes going against a guy like Jaylen so challenging um well jaylen’s the best player so he’s been doing that the whole playoffs I mean when we talk about the Eastern Conference um MVP and uh it seems like he you know he’s continued to pick up where he left off listen the proof is in the numbers Jaylen Brown Eastern Conference Finals MVP in that pivotal series as we now turn our Focus to Sebastian Christensen ahead of game two he joins us from the Boston uh common and you hear that from Jason kid and he might be factual but man that might just be a little bit of fire under Jason Tatum what do you think was the reason behind his comments maybe some Jedi mind trick Gary I would think uh Jason Tatum was quick to clarify yesterday so let’s say this he said they’ve been trying to divide him and Jaylen Brown for some time now and they haven’t succeeded I feel the need to add that even the though the scoring output for Tatum on game one was low he does influence the game in many ways for and his rebounding has been outstanding all playoff long but Jaylen Brown is on a mission let’s just say how it is I spoke to Al Horford yesterday and he told me that the change in Jaylen Brown from a leadership perspective being more vocal this past year has been a game changer for Boston Jaylen Brown is the main aggressor in this Boston team he is somebody who never ceases his energy at the same time he’s taking on the toughest defensive assignment I’m not going to go as far as saying this is jaylen’s team but I will say Boston loves this version of Jayla Brown of course 22 points was huge but three blocks and three three steals in game one that’s the first time he’s gone three and three in any game in his career we’ turn our Focus uh to game two where the Mavericks have yet to lose back-to-back games in this postseason Luca donic goes crazy after a loss it has all the makings for a Dallas bounceback uh what do you say as we head into tip off later tonight I say Gary Boston presents a unique challenge just because of defensive versatility but I think Dallas needs to change at least three things things going into tonight’s game and one of them was a sentiment Echo by The Players yesterday in practice they have to BU move the ball more I mean it got stuck to much Jason kid said and I agree I understand Luca and Kyrie are mainly ISO players but they need to get into the pain a little bit more get the ball moving nine assist is just not acceptable at the same time Dallas did miss a lot of open shots game one especially three s out of 27 25% of makes front three that’s not going to cut it and maybe more importantly I saw a lot of lack of discipline defensively from Dallas Boston got into the point whenever they wanted they had to meet them at the point of the attack but I agree with you uh it has all the makings of a Dallas you know kind of resurgence of sorts win or lose I think they’ll show a better version of themselves just because as you said theyve shown it before in this postseason sure the nine assists for the Mavericks that you mentioned in game one the fewest by any team in a Finals game since the Cavaliers in the 2007 series against the Spurs Sebastian Christensen joining us ahead of game two later tonight from Boston Sebastian thanks so much much the NBA Finals 78% of NBA teams that win game one of the finals at home win the title daunting numbers facing the Mavericks after their loss to the Celtics Thursday night as both Tim bontemps and McMahon can tell you Dallas head coach Jason kid is the focus of both teams right now Jason kid did his best to drive a wedge between Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown ahead of game two of the NBA Finals by declaring twice that brown is the best player on the Boston Celtics neither Tatum nor Brown however was willing to take the bait both in fact went out of their way to point out that the Celtics wouldn’t be where they are if both players weren’t doing their part we’ve been in this position for many years Tatum said it’s not our first rodeo rather than kids comments the focus for Boston is on doing something the Celtics were unable to do in the first two rounds of the playoffs claiming a game two victory at home to take control of this series we can’t let any outside interpretations get between us Brown said Jason kid wants Luca donic to make the Celtics pay for focusing so much on his passing kid’s point is that Boston is making it a priority to take away the lobs and the lasers to the corner Shooters so the League’s leading score should have plenty of opportunities to put the ball in the bucket as kid put it Boston’s going to give the layup to Luca so he’s got to take it donic has proven to be historically dangerous coming off a playoff loss he’s averaged over 34 points per game responded to those losses in his career the most in NBA history his plan for bouncing back in Boston is simple and straightforward quote just be a little bit more aggressive [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

On SportsCenter, Sebastian Christensen explains Jason Kidd’s divisive comments about Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum before Tim Bontemps and Tim MacMahon speaking on what both the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics aim to focus on in Game 2 of the 2024 NBA Finals.

  1. His handles and dribbles are WAY better! Once he smooth that out completely oh man! Best SG for years to come

  2. Yall draggin this b*******. Not to mention why wouldn't goofy think this would just motivate Tatum to cook next game and then both of them score even more than game one. Talk about a self-inflicted headshot

  3. JASON TATUM AND JAYLEN BROWN ARE THE NEW DYNAMIC… THEY ARE NOT BATMAN AND ROBIN… THEY ARE THE GREEN HORNET AND KATO!!! AND THIS IS NOW IT WORKS… THE GREEN HORNET SIT'S IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE BLACK BEAUTY PUSHING ALL THE BUTTONS OF THE ROLLING ARSENAL OF THE BLACK BEAUTY AND KATO SIT'S IN THE FRONT DIVEING THE THE ROLLING ARSENAL OF THE BLACK BEAUTY!!! PEOPLE WHO KNOWS ABOUT THE T.V. SHOW KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE THE NAME OF THE SHOW WAS THE GREEN HORNET BUT WE ALL WATCHED TO SEE BRUCE LEE…

  4. If Kidd actually believes that why is he double/triple teaming JT but not Brown?
    They're both awesome.
    It's just head games…

  5. All these dudes trying to cope over Tatum about to win a chip should be more worried about their boy Luka being absolutely atrocious on defense, hurting his team more than helping them lol

Even on offense Luka was awful the first game

  6. j kidd trying to make tatum force alot more contested shot in 1v1 situation.
the mavs were did pretty well against tatum even without the double team.

brown and KP will keep doing what they do, i hope tatum doesn't let his ego get to his head.

  7. Itโ€™s funny cause this will backfire on kidd so badly ๐Ÿ˜‚ Tatum is a beast. Brown knows

  8. Guess who will shoot from Boston 8 player list?? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

  9. Just because Jason Kidd is a student of Sun. Tzu, I'm rooting for them. I am rooting for Jason kid because this guy is a tactician and it's hilarious

  10. This Celtics are Jays team. Which one depends on the game. Aggressive JB is different though. Love when he plays aggressive.

  11. j kidd already using desperate tactics after 1 game thats tough๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  12. The problem is that the media has been underrating Brown for awhile and instead of saying Boston has arguably 2 top ten players, they have to down one to up the other. The truth of the matter is that they are pretty close, Tatum does some thing better & same with Brown. I believe Tatum can affect the game in a little more ways which why he's better in my opinion, however the gap was never that large.

  13. Did it look like Luka was passing up layups?

JT and JB could both score more, do more, if they were the only guy on the team…but why build a team that's eight shooters deep, where everyone plays great defense, if you want one dude taking all the shots? NBA struggles to market teams, ESPN has no writers, and the Celtics dont easily fit into the usual rhetoric.

  14. I too love "this version" of Jaylen Brown, as opposed to the version who disappears for long stretches of games, waddles up the court, and actually comes onto the court and plays not realizing his shorts are on backwards (MJ wouldn't do that even if he were unconscious). I'm happy to see Brown playing up to his potential. Tatum is still the go-to superstar, White and Horford are the heart of the team, and Porzingis is the hugely talented X-factor that can make them unbeatable.
