what he was originally making on his rookie contract he’s earned it year two it goes up to 38.3 million for the 2025 2026 season year after that 41.1 2027 2028 escalates up the 44 flat and then in 2028 2029 46.8 million in totality for Tyrese Maxi that is a 5e year $25.9 million Max contract and what’s crazy is that if Maxi would have made an all NBA team it would have been more expensive he would have received even more money he could have made $245.8 million over five years and frankly I think that he was robbed out of being an all NBA player he really was one of the top guards in the entire NBA and with Joel and beat out he had to keep the Sixers afloat for so long an extended period of time and he passed that test with flying colors and when I talk about the growth and the development of Tyrese Maxi look at these numbers here this is what happens when you get in the lab and work on your game 2020 2021 thank you Mike muscala for hitting that shot in the bubble it’s what else if they did sign Maxi first it’d be a waste of money because then you wouldn’t be able to sign other guys and this is partly why as well they waited they could have given Maxi this extension last off season but they waited risking you know they took the risk that Maxi would make an all NBA team and it would be more expensive but they wanted the flexibility this off season so don’t be surprised when you know this deal takes a little while to become official he is going to sign it there’s no worries or concerns there just it makes more sense from a business aspect from a team building aspect to wait and push this off until the back end of the offseason great points by chip there going back to last off season which chip brought up this has all kind of been a calculated timeline by Daryl Mor in this front office they’ve had a plan here M has said we know we’re going to pay Tyrese Maxi just because they didn’t give him that deal last year even though they probably could have gotten it was was truly amazing for Duke and has the ability to step in right away his first year in the NBA and make an impact why because he can space the floor and because he can shoot and score and the Sixers need guys that are cheap affordable under control for a long time under team control that can help when the Sixers are going to be you know spending all this other money and whatnot they need these guys that are going to be cheap that can make an impact and you know McCain 6’2 so would be a small back court with him and Maxi if you project him as a starter long term I think you know initially obviously would be coming off the bench so you wouldn’t be too concerned there you can run him with some taller players in the court that can sort of hide some of the defensive deficiencies he might have but I mean whether it’s off the dribble off the catch he’s such a dynamic offensive player and the Sixers really lack that uh this past season and especially in the postseason so if he does again I’m not sure he will fall all the way to pick 16 but I would love McCain coming to Philadelphia yeah that lack of size is a good point you lack that size with him and Maxi can be a little bit of an issue you can get picked on on the defensive end but obviously from the jump you’re going to find a way to stagger those minutes what say you should the Sixers draft Jared McCain D for draft
