Report: Sasha Vezenkov wants to leave the Sacramento Kings

thanks Jason um some Sasha V zenov wants a parachute back to Europe hey how you doing uh according to uh many uh European reports uh he he he wants to uh he wants to get out of uh get out of Sacramento according to Euro Hoops sources Chris how do we feel about Euro Hoops you’re the you’re the European here kind of you know europee stuff I don’t know I think about Europe Man City guy and all know fine I guess according to Euro Hoops uh he is informed the team about his intention to leave uh yet to be decided if he will seek another opportunity somewhere else in the NBA or will return to Europe now he’s in the middle uh really in the first half of a a three-year 20 million deal which is a return guaranteed for two years but I don’t know if Euro Hoops is just ignoring or doesn’t understand how NBA contracts work like you can’t just like I say you can’t just there’s not like a transfer fee like they’ve committed to they’ve guaranteed his wage for next year and to my knowledge there’s no mechanism in the CBA for them to just like for them to like mutually agree to part ways and the Kings not be on the hook maybe there is maybe if he says I will forego this you know seven million or whatever and opt out but I don’t I don’t think that’s the case because you think other players would do that like mutually agree oh we’ll let you off the hook and this guy can go sign with the Lakers or something yeah I don’t know the exact stipulations but I feel like sometimes you can get a league permission on some contracts okay I think you know like let’s say a uh player has four years left and then they do an immediate retirement just for whatever reason right and then you can get I forget what that that granted you know oh the not injured player but I yeah there’s usually like a stipulation come up hey we’re going to give you a portion of the c or what I I don’t know if that’s going to be the case here but I think with on the king side of this David I would say they got to really dig down here with Sasha and with his group his St his agent and so on and like okay what what are we looking at here like really what is going on I and my again my best guess is I’m sure he wasn’t very thrilled with his playing time yeah well I I think my best guess is the Kings weren’t really thrilled with his playing time yeah you know and and so two things could be true here sure he wants to play more yeah he did get hurt that hurt part of his performance but I would say his first season was very incomplete I don’t think Mike Brown loved playing him that’s just an observation but when he did play I thought thought he had some moments but I would say by and large I thought he was a bit disappointing especially based on the hype that a lot of us had on him that’s the thing obviously he’s a talented outside shooter and you know there were actually a couple games I remember where he pulled some boards and I think he had a couple of blocks and went where was like oh is there something more to this guy and we it really isn’t complete uh picture um I would like to see I it’s sad because I really was kind of looking forward to seeing how he would if it all develop or yeah uh grow in in his second year being used to the NBA Style yeah I mean if he was consistently given what’s a fair number for about the seventh eth ninth 18 minut 15 18 minutes okay so let’s say 15 15 minutes a game I think he’d give him some production but I would yeah you know it I don’t think his contract’s out of whack but I think when you’re talking about a Euroleague MVP right I think you know there was probably some debate when he first came like could he be a starter he didn’t look like a starter to me well that’s a whole different topic because when you talk about Euroleague MVPs you know the problem is is over here everybody thinks well let’s see uh Luca was a Euroleague MVP you know you got joic and Giannis and and Joel embiid and all that you know you have all these Euro or foreign players that come over they own the league well let me give you just a list of your Euroleague MVPs over the last few years uh your defending uh and reigning Euroleague MVP is a former Vegas summer league star Mike James Sasha ven HOV the year before that Nia mertic before that vasil Mich the year before that Yan vaselli and then Luca Sergio LOL Nando de Colo NE be hey uh Sergio Rodriguez vasil spanis Andre Keno Demetrius diam mantius Milos teodosic Juan Carlos Navaro Ramona cisaus no relation to Nick Theo papalas Anthony Parker won it two in a row 0405 now look I’m not trying to be disrespectful at all and obviously Luca donic is on that list but I think it’s incredibly fair to say that for whatever reason the vast majority vast majority of Euroleague MVPs either couldn’t play in the NBA or would have been rotational players at Best so I don’t you know it’s it’s not bad to be Euroleague MVP but when you’re 28 years old or whatever he is and you’re coming over here I I I think there were some understandably that maybe put those let’s put it this way in the time he played in the NBA last year for the Kings I wouldn’t say he was bad but the game just looked a little too fast forward looked a little and and I don’t know if that’s something you figure out at 29 yeah and you also want to be more versatile than just a shooter I mean to me his shooting was a little bit like the Kings this season I said a lot during the year where the Kings wanted to shoot such a high volume of threes make it a huge part of their weapons uh just volume three three three I I didn’t think it was was a great shooting team they were good right and there were some nights they were better than others but a little bit like Sasha there would be some nights like o okay he’s having a decent night other night you’re like yeah he kind of needed to make the two shot attempts he had right and he missed them both so again I think multiple things are true here I would say he underperformed I don’t think he got a ton of opportunities y but you know can they make another run at it or is he truly that disgruntled where it’s like hey look the best way is to to move off of him and we talked about all these other type of people to trade we really didn’t put him in a lot of trades no well maybe he’s a guy that I don’t know how coveted he is but his contract’s pretty friendly I think his contract’s really friendly and when you look at his jumper when you look at his you know how that shot looks he’s obviously a hell of a talent and you hear you know you hear the stories about how he broke all the practice records for shooting and all that um we’ll talk a little bit more about this later by the way EUR League MVP when we talk about LCA donic it’s also important to remember Luca was 17 18 years old that he was started the year at 17 finished it at 18 and won the year league MVP I think that’s a little bit different than doing it at 2720 yeah we’ll take a break when we come back three for

According to a report over the weekend, Sasha Vezenkov wants to be traded by the Sacramento Kings–or potentially go back to the EuroLeague.
