[WOJ] Darvin Ham is joining the Milwaukee Bucks as the top assistant coach to Doc Rivers, sources tell ESPN. Ham returns to the franchise after spending two years as the Lakers head coach. He had been highly sought-after among teams this spring.

Ayyy glad he’s back as an assistant. Seemed like all the Bucks love Ham.

  4. DapperTies-

I assume this means we aren’t getting Cassell then?

The amount of money ownership has poured into this team the last few years really is commendable. Despite their faults, they certainly haven’t cheaped out at virtually any turn. Probably the Brewers fan in me that makes me really appreciate the commitment to spend.

Probably reading too much into this but feels like it means Bobby is staying for next season. Just remember how much Bobby liked Ham and did that interview where he said losing him was the reason the bucks struggled so much

Out of the loop. Does this kill the Sam Cassell rumor?

  8. I like it. Bucks coaching staff is growing strong

  9. xSmoothNoodle

I know Giannis and Bobby really liked him (not sure who else) so this is great!!

I don’t really see how this can be a bad thing. Ham was well liked and knows what the Bucks did at their best. The familiarity alone with Khris and Giannis should help Doc formulate a good system.

Maybe ham can convince some of the younger free agents (Cam Reddish) from the Lakers to sign with us?

  12. bigbobo33

I really assumed he was locked in with Bud.

Pleasantly surprised. Bobby mentioned after 2022’s season that they really missed Ham.

  13. Does this mean we won’t get Sam Cassell?

That would be kind of a bummer, because I could have seen a really good path of continuity from Doc to Sam once Docs contract expires.

(No shade to Darvin, stoked to see him back too!)

So happy to see him return. Definitely a huge presence we’ve needed and someone everyone I guess besides Dame should be comfortable with

I’m okay with this and all, but wasn’t Dave Joerger Doc’s guy? I’m assuming he’s not coming back? The players loved Ham so I’m good with the hiring but I hope it’s not Giannis playing GM again and Doc not having/wanting the staff he needs.

Ham Slamwich is Back!! More good vibes returning.

    It’s over, Eastern Conference!

D Ham! I heard the Cassel rumors, but actually like this much more. Welcome back!

I’m happy about this.  They are setting him up as the Bucks next head coach.  I just wish they can get the former Villanova head coach Jay Wright to come in as an assistant head coach.  Always like that guy.

  20. Skeleboi846

Glad to have him back!! Seemed to have such a great relationship with our core guys, hopefully he can pick apart some of the succesful sets we had with Bud and implement them into our offense

  21. nbaguy1997

Why are we happy this the guy that had rui at center guarding jokic. We are so beyond cooked

  22. Optimal-Priority-562

okay as long as he’s not in the head coach position

  23. sabertooth753

Lol imagine we also add Sam Cassell too. GOATed assistant coaches. I’m so ok with this.
