decide today whether or not to take the massive Lakers offer so Kean you being a lifelong Laker fan what is your gut feeling at this moment on this my gut feeling is we’ll be off the show at about 9 uh Eastern Time Pacific time and then at the end of the day we’ll be in our vehicles and we’ll go down he took the job right when we got off air that’s that’s what I’m saying look look at this man just check this out though Skip it’s the Lakers number one okay I understand $32 million new deal at Connecticut gives you about $5 million a year somewhere in that number in that in that range the Lakers reported offer is way above that closer to the $100 million range you just do the math how much more can Connecticut just money alone just money alone I know everybody oh it doesn’t mean anything it’s just money he can make money yes he can but when you talking about a number that is just you you you can’t wrap your heads around it as a coach you would have to continue to get extension after extension after extension to get to number that the Lakers reportedly have offered him and it’s a Laker job so let’s just hypothetically say he takes a Laker job and he’s fired in three years you know how much money they gonna owe him he can always go back to college cuz what if he what if he goes to Connecticut back to Connecticut and they’re not very good for the next couple years because they have a top five team coming back but go ahead doesn’t mean anything there there’s other teams paper it’s all paper in the end no skip you got to look at it this way if all of a sudden you start to do like this and your program isn’t what you thought it was going to be nil money has changed significantly in college now colleges can pay players the university can get into bidding wars with other universities with power five football programs although it’s a power five basketball school they got more money at those other schools to be able to give to the players he’s got to factor in all of that that when he’s making this decision it’s the Lakers it’s not a hard decision in my opinion yes you say that someone says that he’s using potentially the Lakers to go back and and and bid up Yukon when Yukon just gave him some money how much more money are they gonna be able to find and give him I mean it just doesn’t make any sense and the Lakers the last thing think about it this way this is the first time out of any other the candidates the Lakers have put themselves out there in the universe talking about a a coach they didn’t talk they didn’t talk about JJ or Sam Cassel or anybody else he’s met with them twice second interviews JJ hadn’t gotten I don’t know if the story came from the Lakers or came to W from Hurley himself okay so here here’s what I’m going say when you start talking about W and you start listening to w I think anybody in this business can put a rubber stamp on it it’s probably pretty damn close to factual whether it came from cuz he one thing he’s not going to do is he’s not going to burn his Bridge with herley a the Lakers so you know in this business as You’ been in skip he going to fact check with the Lakers no no I I got it but but he’s not saying that Hurley has accepted the offer he’s not saying it’s a done deal he says he’ll decide today understand that’s all he’s I understand that but it’s too much information that he’s getting from wherever he’s getting it from to put it out there for it not to be factual is all I’m saying no the Lakers aren’t going to and Hurley isn’t going to tell Wes something that’s not factual to put the Lakers out there they just don’t they don’t do business like that so in the end it’s his job to lose I understand they say that JJ may be in a running steel all that’s cool I’m listening to W in this situation okay and I’m listening to what I already kind of know from my own personal self and people that I know so all right in the end I see him as a Laker by the time we get off the air okay go Paul here we go with this Laker drama again I mean we’ve been talking about the Laker coaching V uh vacancy for over three weeks now and they haven’t come to a conclusion you know what this is just starting to turn into the best reality show on TV right now cuz that’s all it is I feel like with the lers this is just a reality TV show every week there’s something hey it it really is and and so we go from JJ reick to coach Harley W I thought this was a done deal guys I thought this was a done deal and then we come here it’s Monday and everybody in Laker land is holding their breath because what do they like more uh or or what do they like more to do in Hollywood than to put on a show I mean this is just this is ridiculous I mean like key you said you don’t turn down a Laker job yet he hasn’t taken the job yet the dude just met Friday it’s Monday no but we’ve been talking about this they’ve had at least 10,000 conversations but but but I almost called you skip Paul he flew out on Thursday he rested up he met all day Friday he flew home with his wife and he’s got to talk to kids and his family and everybody and they all got to get together and eat and have a conversation come on I get it I mean it’s almost looking it’s almost like embarrassing if he doesn’t take the job like ser you’re right agreed and that’s why I say they not going to put themselves out there like that like I understand I’m hearing maybe the the the contract is north of 90 plus million like what’s the think about at that point like like he said I don’t know if he’s using it for leverage but I’m just tired of this reality show the Lakers and their organization seems to always put on when we should be talking more about how the Boston Celtics are going to win their 18 title I mean this is we’re just wasting all this Laker talk time on a coach who’s going to either take the job or not I mean come on guys what are we doing here what are we doing here I got it now I got it Paul I I got it I hate to be the bearer of bad Tidings but the biggest story in sports right now is Dan Hurley maybe to the Lakers that’s the biggest Story the Celtics Dan to the Lakers duck boats and parades is what we should be thinking about planning yeah no one hey no one cares I’m sorry they want to know what Dan Hurley two time meetball kill me with this this reality show it might be real is all about reality TV and that’s what this is turning into a big reality TV circus and I’m a burn I’m I’mma burn you and Skip up even more with this comment I’m about to make wait till LeBron James a day at after we get off the show or whatever time he decides and make his decision for him to say you know what I informed my University I’m staying that that would be leaving the building the fact that I think and I put a percentage on it 95% sure that he’s going to take the Laker job if I think I would think he’d be looking for a house right now that’s what I would think easy that’s that they not worried about that right now that’s he stay in a hotel for a couple weeks nobody nobody’s worried about that his wife they got Realtors lined up that’s easy that’s that’s not a problem at all okay are you 95% sure that he said yes before he left the building and said let’s wait to break it until whenever Monday or whatever I I I wouldn’t put a 95% sure on that but I’ll put a I’ll put about a 75% sure that he probably said you know what I want this let me just let let let me give us some thought let me give us some thought okay I still can’t figure out why or how or what the point was your Lakers interviewed James bgo twice yes twice bgo and bgo and and Coach H the only two okay but I think JJ got interviewed I I think no interviewed but we’re talking second third interviews we’re talking we’re talking that okay if the focal point of your search is Hurley why wouldn’t you just go for the throat right away and just go to hurle because you have to do your due diligence SK with James bgo with everybody jameso anybody anybody you think well one one is a assistant in the NBA and one is a head coach in college yeah one has been a head coach in the NBA and an associate head coach now yeah but you you want to you want to have these conversations to see if the plan that you have in place works it may work for Hurley it may not work for B Rego may want to do something else and Hurley may want to do you have to do your due diligence okay but when it comes to Marquee value and and selling tickets it’s it’s like Dan Hurley versus J we don’t worry about selling tickets at quiet your ha ass tun in later today for the coaching vacacy of the Lakers okay Kean here’s here’s the point that sticks in my craw about Dan Hurley the more I watch the clips that we keep showing of him the more reminds me what he became especially over the last two years he used to be quiet as a little mouse on the sideline on the bench and all of a sudden he was turned into the biggest hot dog showman in all of college basketball coaching do you think he can bring that he’s not he’s not going to bring that it’s professional this is college this is this is playing to your roster this is playing to 18 19 20 year old kids that’s that’s what it’s playing to a student body so to speak that’s what he’s doing in college basketball like many college basketball coaches do they play to the student body that’s it’s the NBA nobody who do you see in the NBA cheering like that and going no they they approach it different he’s a professional his dad was a basketball coach his brother’s a basketball coach his they played in the NBA his brother so he understands what the NBA is about he understands what coaching is about I’m not he’s not going to be waving tiles what the hell is this ML car and the Celtics no this is one of those okay so you got an answer Paul I’m just saying listen if if this doesn’t go well if he decides not to take this job this is just a complete embarrassment
