  1. Lakers just being used as leverage for the millionth time lmao

  2. Faliberti

Being a uconn and celtics fan is hitting like crack this afternoon

  3. MacJonesisaterrorist

Bostons in the finals and the Lakers are about to hire a podcaster, night and day between organizations

Haha, love this. I wouldn’t want to coach LeBron either. Dude has gone through 10 head coaches, and 4 in six year in LA. I’m guessing they weren’t guaranteeing the $70M. I know if I’m signing up to coach Bron I am demanding guaranteed money. Either way fuck that. If you win it all and dominate LeBron gets the credit. If the team fails because the roster is poorly built and your star’s favorite pet is hurt all the time (looking at you AD), they fire you. No thanks. Honestly, if I’m LA I’m looking to moving on from LeBron.

They’re making the same mistake that they did with Kobe. Let him stay too long and he has that huge contract. Not sure about Kobe, but you know LeBron has his fingers in on personnel decisions and Rich Paul is probably hanging around the building. Fuck that job. No way. Not ever.

Great news. If you’re a young coach, avoid the Lakers at all costs, they’ll destroy your career before it even begins. Hopefully they don’t approach Sam Cassell as well

Lakers demanding attention during the Finals just to continue being a laughingstock is *chefs kisses*

  7. Ok_Acanthaceae6057

Probably didn’t want to be out of a job in 2 years

I don’t blame him for not wanting to be the scapegoat for all of their problems, that’s a toxic work environment for anyone to put up with long term🤷🏼‍♂️

  9. FloweredWallpaper

TIL the UConn job is more prestigious than coaching the Lakers & LeBron

  10. BuddhistInTheory

Hmmm, win a rare three-peat in college hoops or be scapegoated for a mediocre team & aging superstar? Hurley is a smart guy. Good for him. And fuck the Lakers.

  11. Love it, they wouldn’t have let him even coach. Lakers are such a terribly run organization, if they weren’t LA, they would be shit

Hmm, the choice between trying to threepeat the NCAA and be a first-time NBA head coach on a team that just proved it wasn’t good enough despite great seasons from LeBron and AD. That seems like an awfully easy decision, and Hurley seems to agree.

It’s a wonderful day to be a UCONN fan and a Celtics fan. Fuck LA!

The Lakers job is kind of a terrible gig as long as lebron and klutch are running it all. Highest expectations, no roster flexibility or upside. Intense media and fanbase. They get worse every season in terms of final result.

Will prob get fired by year 3 and forced to sit out of coaching for the rest of the decade as they pay you out.

  15. Victory for UCON and college BB. He’s great for the game, for UCONN and the Big East.

  16. Knowing most of the people who love him for his success at UConn would hate him for leaving for LA probably played into his decision heavily

  17. Lakers are poverty franchise and cant even beat out college team offers lmfao this is the best timeline

There’s a reason he decided to wait until today to make the announcement. He wanted to see if Boston’s game 1 win was a fluke. After yesterday’s win, he realized this Celtics team is legit and no path for Lakers to win a championship in the next two to three years.
