almost said cast fual fast casual dining Dave’s Hot Chicken and Spark OKC make sure if you are tuning in the live stream tonight please drop a like on the video if you’re watching the YouTube video as well check us out on social media if you have been listening to the Pod last Sunday we did an episode all about if the Thunder should Target a big man last Wednesday we did an episode all about should the Thunder Target a wing in those two episodes we talked names contracts what the fit would look like a whole bunch of stuff and it leads to this if you haven’t watched those episodes or listen to them go back and do so I would I would highly recommend it tonight is the pipe dream so we talked realistic bigs we talked realistic Wings tonight is the night that we take the gloves off and we have some fun and we talk about the ideal perfect fit the W bomb that makes you say oh my they’re title favorites now Sam prey is going to hate this episode it’s okay Sam if you want to come on just I believe some of these guys will be repeats oh oh like like repeat Thunder players like okay I thought you me repeat gentlemen before we dive into the pipe dream scenario I think it’s important first that we talk about this team and talk about what we think is that perfect fit like if we had to build that player in a lab who would it be now we’re not going to mention names here we’re mentioning skills architect attributes etc etc okay so I figure we could just kind of popcorn whoever wants to take the floor first and we just keep throwing out ideas I’m going to kick us off bring it I think the ideal perfect dream fit guy for this team fits into the four and is like 6′ n 6′ 10 is a bigger body who can slide down who can slide up is versatile but I the size to me is the first thing that jumps off they need a 6’9 6′ 10 230 lb type of dude um I mean we watched this team all season their wings are smaller their guards are are kind of bigger but they got a bunch of guys who are 6566 and they got a seven-footer yeah I think they need that that presence up front that can start at the four so I’m I want a guy who’s 6′ n 225 pounds I’ll that’s the first thing that goes on the checklist when when we’re playing God and we’re grabbing the little vials and we’re pouring them in the in The Cauldron to to build this human that’s the first thing for me I I’m gonna give you a um maybe like a more mentality or a um intangible skill set maybe um and this is a lot of Thunder guys but it’s it’s harder to notice because they’re smaller but like the the garbage guy if that makes sense like you watch this Celtics MAV series and the Celtics have so many guys that are like getting the offensive rebound or like making that little play that won’t show up in the Statue the Thunder has those guys but just to piggyback on like having that kind of guy at the size Jacobs alluding to is what I what I’d pick you back first I think you guys nail the uh the archetype of player that we need uh alongside the starting four if you want to call them that if we consider them locked in um but the other thing to me is the the low hanging fruit you need the rebounding you need the defensive versatility and the shot making I think there’s enough playmaking on this team that you can sacrifice not going for the perfect like Jacob said not sacrificing Taylor this is Pike dream uh playmaking is the other area I think that prey would prior I but I think some of the players we’ll talk about tonight fit a lot of those uh more than the previous two segments we’ve done on this podcast when it comes to bigs and wings uh they’ll fit the majority of these but not every single player is going to fit every single one I think you can sacrifice the playmaking Nick go ahead let me Let Me Maybe I like that train of thought let me let provide some more detail or like peel back an extra layer how about a guy that can play make when needed whether it’s like a playoff series and your secondary options off or like an injury you need a guy to step up so a guy that can playmake at a high level but when he doesn’t need to can still be super effective as like an off ball play finisher I love that not Josh giddy no Josh giddy hate but like that’s what Josh gy does as playmake and when you need him to do other things he’s not as great at those other things I think you’re that was the example that jumped to my head yeah you’re I mean you’re not wrong like you’re not slandering Josh it’s just like that’s that’s what he is right right for sure now Taylor kind of spoke in like very big like generalities there on shooting defense defensive versatility rebounding uh yes I want to get a little deeper into those as far as the defensive versatility I mean you’d love a guy that can guard one through five right the reality is guys that guard one through five a lot of them aren’t great at guarding one through five there’s very few that are like a lead at that I think specifically the defensive versatility they need to be able to slide their feet to stay in front of a guy at least a little bit if they get switched onto a guard or something but to me the the biggest defensive attribute they need is physicality and size I’m talking a guy who can uh rotate with chet on guarding the center on the floor right I’m talking a guy who if they get matched up with yic coming down the court you’re not thinking that’s Isaiah Joe oh my God that’s a free two points right I’m not saying like there’s a ton of yit Stoppers out there but when I think of the defensive versatility they need I think specifically toughness and size in the front Court yeah I mean to to put all that in one player would be pre LeBron James so obviously as Jacob said as as as we transition to the next part of this episode the intent is not that we’re identifying guys that fit the M we described but it’s bits and pieces with the things that we would like to see and that guy that completes the roster just to continue to clarify I was on mute because I have a what what the dog doing he was going crazy in the background that’s kind of what I’m alluding to you’re never going to find even this league with so many superstars that we’re going to touch on uh during this segment like you’re never going to find a player who fits all those attributes I think um but if they can do the majority of them I mean the Thunder are an incredible team I’m really excited to kind of pick down some of these prospects and hear your guys’ wild cards as well what else when you think of the of this player that the thing were pouring in The Cauldron to cook this guy up what else comes to mind you guys have other skills attributes personality like it’s got to be a guy who can fit in in the locker room right I don’t I think the Thunder have a great culture I think sometimes people think oh they have this culture so they have to bring in very likeminded guys into the culture sometimes you got to test the culture a little bit and you can bring in guys who are a little bit different but you can’t bring in a huge personality who is going to destroy that culture like Draymond Green is not on the list you sure 100% some of that’s due to a availability as well but that’s something I’ve been that’s a good one that’s a good one Taylor I like that availability probably do you mean availability as far as like availability in a trade or health I was thinking trade I think Nick was talking health I was like okay like like if this this perfect player that you’re describing uh is not perfect if he’s not on the floor right totally agree but I also was thinking about culture as well Jacob but I think there reaches a certain point if you have such a strong culture in place and certain players one player uh trying to think how I should phrase this I think you you can bring a certain player in and um kind of have them adapt to that culture and it’s not a complete it it’s not going to derail the culture that you have in place obviously this is a uh not a super comparable comparison but like I think of nland Noel when the Thunder had Russ and they had PG and they brought in nland Noel who had the the background history whatever you want to call it and he was able to adjust well um obviously a superstar is on a completely different caliber of that and it’s going to be much more difficult but that being said I I I think you have such a strong culture in place I’m not sure it’s going to completely derill things like you can look at Gordon Hayward this season right I’m not sure he was a perfect fit culturally had given all his circumstances off the court and where he wants to be and how he wants to play um but I think you can bring in a certain player whether it’s like Kevin Durant who has all the the baggage with him and I think he could still play well within the culture because you you built that Foundation I think that’s important Nick anything else to end no like I said I think we’ve we’ve described like the best got one more ever here age why longevity long-term fit you you could bring in a 34 year old yeah that’s what I’m asking that’s what I’m asking so I’m I’m cooking the dream guy and the dream guy would have all of that and be like 26 or is the dream guy uh in the the real Financial cap situation of the NBA or are we just like vacuuming it as I like to say I mean a 26y old that does all these things is gonna be right and you can load up the max guys if you want it’s just his ownership willing to pay it yeah well and also limits you uh with future moves as well that being said we have BR 33y old their Max is a bigger number we have a two-year window I’m not sure I’ve been able to to kind of touch on this but one thing I’ve been thinking a lot about as a Chiefs fan but also an NFL fan and Nick you can kind of relate to this but I think if you have a rookie scale um Superstar quarterback that you’re very confident in you can bring that gives you flexibility for I mean in the NFL it’s three four years whatever it may be to bring in pieces around them I think about obviously the Chiefs Patrick Mahomes when he was not at rookie scale but I think a better example currently is a a team like the Houston Texans who have CJ stra they made all these these offseason moves this offseason Nick and brought Talent around him and and they’re spending money before CJ strout hits that that Max I think about that with the Thunder because you have two years until each of Chad and jdub uh reach their their rookie extensions as well as SGA getting that supermax so you have a two-year window here that you can kind of operate there and I don’t think age matters quite as much Jacob to your original Point uh so long as it doesn’t surpass that to to your window can I offer a Counterpoint sure thinking of this from the thunderfun office perspective have they ever prioritized short-term Windows over long-term consistency no we talk a lot about the two-year window I wonder how much they care about the two-year window I think there’s I think they’re more interested in the tenure window it’s not black and white though it’s not like you can do both exactly yeah it’s not a this guy helps you for the next two and then screws you long term I think you have enough assets and financial flexibility like you you can do both again if if we’re pipe ding here you can do both for sure I think doing both is getting the really really good guy at age 25 and just writing it out for the next seven or eight years but yeah the counter to that though is like like the um the 25-year-old is going to be better for you long term he may be less battle tested less like killer mentality now like if would you rather have would you rather have a CH a chance to win titles for the next 10 years or like really be like the consensus favorite for the next two but then also have the ability to be you know what I mean like it’s that’s my thought process and and I think when are discussing the the the dream player that kind of comes in play as well like when you get the dream player are you trying to win the title next season or are you trying to widen your window for the next half decade or more that plays a ro both depends on the player and also if we’re talking in and these hypothetical situations like the dream player is likely on this roster I think very highly of jdb Chet maybe Usman Jang stand not not in terms of Jang is the dream player I am ending the stream right now no no no no no no no but if we were talking about a player like uh on the last episode a wing who who could fit perfectly within the starting four as what we’re calling them you could develop into that and you still have these other guys like JD chat who can reach superstardom so again there’s so many hypotheticals here but I think the point of this podcast is just touch on those guys in my opinion that can help this team win now I like Usman Jen as a kid I don’t think he’s in the NBA in two years agreed we’ll see I think I think we’re down down the poku train won’t be an OKC though agreed that’s that’s maybe more fair I I think we’re we’re seeing we we basley crawled so poku could walk so Jen could run I think the difference is if you if you were to chip Jen this summer like he still has he still moves the needle for a team part of a package so Jane could run and Salon can fly baby let’s go fly like a Boeing 747 have the doors fall off okay let’s take our first break of the night on the other side we will talk actual names we we we’ve put the guy together now let’s talk names we will be right back and we are back Donovan Bliss is cracking me up in the chat he said I like him as a kid but is such a teacher thing to say can’t tell you how many times I’ve said that as a teacher before uh get cier on here he can attest to that as well okay so our guy that we’ve cooked up is 68 69 610 220 2:30ish a bigger body who can play the four they’re versatile defensively especially in the front Court being able to be physical they can shoot the basketball space the floor they can play make in a pinch if they need to they are a good rebounder they will fit in with the culture of the team ages kind of up in the air we’re we’re torn on H anything else that I missed no G give me give me two of those things and this team is gonna be really damn good honestly can we can we give a quick like precursor to this if Oklahoma City did not make any kind of big trade for get pipe dream even like some of the Wings and and and bigs you talked about and a lot of which were lofty if they made a marginal move this summer or even no move frankly they’re still going to be damn good next year and have a real shot to win it which is crazy for sure and we’re not saying that any of these dream scenarios are going to happen we’re just having fun with it man dream scenarios say it if they trade for one of these guys I will bit my pants it will happen just poop everywhere Okay so we’ve discussed pre pod a few a few names we’ve got wild cards we can talk about Nick who’s the first name you want to talk about um oh we also talked about availability health and trade wise yes yes yes yes um let’s let’s get the name out of the way okay okay um this is a guy that has spent time in Oklahoma City it’s a guy that whether or not he comes back I believe will have his jersey hung in the rafters whether you love it or you hate it um it’s a guy that is one of the best scorers to ever play the game Kevin Durant the real quick Let’s Hear It Kevin Durant the Durantula KD slim Reaper Easy Money Sniper the servant Green Room is one that I have listed on basketball reference as small forward power forward and shooting guard you wanted the versatility yeah 611 240 pounds he will be 36 by the time the next season starts nuts uh you want career stats or last season stats last season last season Kevin Durant averaged 27 points on 52 41 86 splits that is stupid it is insane are you on bbr yes give me his Playoff stats for that that one wful series that the Suns had because I think he was phenomenal uh 6.6 rebounds five assists a steal and almost a block and a half a game that’s regular season right that’s regular season okay um playoffs well first let me give you his advance on the rebounding CU that that was a big thing for us excuse me um defensive rebounding percentage he’s 17 and a half total he’s 10% so not horrible when we look at his playoff series this past season uh against the Minnesota Timberwolves the man averaged 26.8 points on 55 42 83 shooting six and a half rebounds three and a half assists uh he had six total blocks two total steals uh played a lot of minutes yeah I mean listen this it’s not as simple as saying you put KD on the Thunder he Aver is the same but if you get 65% of that production from KD and even play him like Gordon hayward’s minutes he’d get a lot more I I think this Thunder team I mean for sure is in the Western Conference Finals they get past Dallas I mean that was that series although it went six was a corner three foul away from going seven and Lord knows what happened if you put KD I mean again pip Brom scenario you can’t go back in time and say that kind of stuff but uh that that’s at his age is remarkable production playoffs and regular season just stupid stuff does he fit the culture that’s where it’s interesting right um feels like he’s been on a bit of a honestly when you step back and you look at it like the past two or three years there’s been a little bit I I wouldn’t say it’s like a PR tour but trying to rebuild some some burnt Bridges it feels like I’ll tell you what it is he has been laying the breadcrumbs like you go back to like early in JB’s rookie season and they’re talking about like these interviews like who’s who’s the best rookie out there and he’s like that uh Jaylen Williams with the bush head like like he’s he’s been like saying these little things and like hyping up chat and doing like the chat come talking about he understands getting booed and yes he how much he loves Oklahoma City and every every game against the Thunder he gets the question and he answers it with perfection like it’s it’s a lot of it’s maturity like this is not the same Kevin that we saw when he left Oklahoma City and even like the even five years ago Kevin um he gets it I think he knows I don’t think this is a secret like I think it’s it’s pretty well known uh for Kevin’s Legacy to be renewed it’s the clearest path is going back to OKC whether he wins a title or not like coming back and like just like rounding it it’s just that’s that’s the only way there’s not another scenario where Kevin retires and he’s not a villain you know I think he knows that too I I think he does he does and there’s seeds being planted not only publicly but I think behind the scenes as well that some of us have heard and others have heard in National media I again we could do a full podcast just on Kevin Durant especially this topic I think right correct U but I tweet hits breaking the Phoenix Sons have traded Kevin Durant back to Oklahoma City 2hour Podcast initial reaction and then we’re doing like subsequent episodes I do think there’s something to be said about KD um he got his ring finally when he went to Golden State but he’s hopped around looking for that place that stability sense um so that’s kind of where like you mentioned the culture fit Jacob there’s a world where a player like a Kevin Durant comes here and he’s willing to buy into his role understanding that he’s not the youngest superstar on this team and he’s come comfortable with that there’s the other side of KD where the rumors come out immediately when they they lose their first round series or yeah was first round right and uh the athletic drops a hit piece and Kevin Durant’s talking about you know there’s there’s sources saying Kevin Durant was upset with his offensive role I don’t want a player like Kevin Durant taking away from a Jay and there’s some of these comments in the chat but taken away from a jdub a Chad a shay his development or all three of their development and so is he comfortable playing a similar role quote unquote like he was in Phoenix maybe even less so and that’s I mean there’s no answer to that right it’s it’s different because he’s if he’s in OKC he’s back where wants to be maybe he’s here long term I think you’re right I think you’re right I would be interested if there was ever interest in that I wonder what the conversation between Sam and Kevin is prior to a deal being consummated I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s already been had okay uh Sam talks to all former players he’s a huge relationship guy um whether or not that Kevin trade has been discussed explored talked about those two have dialogue I want to say on a regular basis but they still talk for sure like Kevin although the fan base was super harsh on him when he left um I I am under the impression and believe he still has a strong relationship with the non fan base in OKC the people that work for the team the front office like I think he still has a good relationship there I think they still talk they respective of trade talks let’s talk what a trade would look like Kevin is under contract for two more years both at about 50 million th half 33 in space so they’d have to bridge about $17 million when I think of this guys what comes to my mind is Pick 12 two future picks giddy KAS and Jen yeah I think I think KAS has to be part of the deal um I think PX has to be part of the deal whether it’s two or three or two in a Swap and there’s protections and and not all first round picks are created equal um I’m curious if it takes both Giddy and Jane though I think it could be one or the other like if Phoenix believes in giddy maybe it’s giddy’s good enough if they prefer the younger I don’t even know he’s younger if they prefer the less experienced uh Jen they could go that route um I personally feel just think about the leverage like if it all depends on like if Kevin demands out versus just like says hey I’d like to leave um for a guy that like you said gonna be 36 next year still a great player with two years left on his deal if Phenix is trading him they’re not a contender anymore um Brad Beal not good like book like it’s almost like you retool around book I don’t know if Phoenix has enough leverage to get three firsts and Josh and us and case I think I think o Josh and KAS and pix are the guys that are part of a package and again we’re talking pipe dreams here Nick but one thing that I was thinking that you brought up is Kevin Durant and his whole take on the situation if he raises enough hell for lack of a better term publicly uh nationally through the national media maybe you can squeak by keeping case Wallace but again that’s my pipe dream we’re talking pipe dream this scenario I think any uh potential TR my pipe dream is just give him a couple seconds yeah right exactly exactly it likely includes K but I I don’t know you necessarily have to include Jen as well as Josh I mean I think I think K would be a must would be their their like desired guy it’s not happening unless you include him yeah but Josh and us I think are like the do you need both do you just need one do you up or down like the number of picks I’ve talked to some Thunder fans about this uh I’ve had some uh like just National NBA guys pick my brain on this I recently even if you trade case in away you still have the the draft pick uh the draft pick Arsenal to be able to you know we all love Cas but you can find a new KAS potentially in these upcoming drafts that’s why I think I’d be interested in this bringing this back at full Circle if you could take uh we’ll talk draft in the coming weeks you can get Devin Carter I think you’re probably you probably feel a little better about losing case Wallace not but you may have to also include 12 and can’t get Deon Carter he also has a rumored promise that may be before the flender so a lot of moving Parts but yeah I think K would be a headliner let’s move on to the next name we’ve had the KD discussion let’s move on to the next name Taylor who do you want to talk about next let’s go ahead and just uh stay with the lwh hanging fruit actually you don’t have him on here never mind no you if you got somebody drop it well but it’s not my wild card I want to save a wild card bring it dude well uh Lai Markin in we don’t have know why I did not put him on the list sorry i’ put him no that’s okay I’d put him over some of the names we have on the list and we can use them as honorable mentions we’re getting into our wild cards but go let me give the stats real quick uh age 27 he just turned 27 he is 7 foot 240 lbs do you want last season or career stats I think last season last season 23 points on 48 4090 splits almost a 50 4090 season uh it was 23 points eight rebounds two assists nearly a steal a game only half a block game for a seven-footer isn’t great um his Advanced numbers on rebounding he was a 20% defensive rebound percentage guy and a for % total rebound percentage guy uh lri is due an extension this summer next year he makes 18 million it is widely believed he will get maxed I think he’s kind of the opposite what we talked about Kevin Durant uh not necessarily in terms of fit offensively and defensively uh they each have their strengths and weaknesses but we’re already getting comments in the chat here about his contract and so that’s something keep in mind definitely does not fit that two-year window we talked so much about the start the podast before these other extensions for these players does fit the youth though does fit the youth we had yai on who talked about um y Yosi on um to talk about how the L marinin thing could work so if you’re interested in that you can go back and listen that episode correct good point and he had a a very good uh outline of how this could potentially work for the Thunder financially um but if we’re talking about his on fit or his on court fit I offensively that’s fantastic I think those rebounds probably go down with this Thunder team just based off opportunity and and the high usage he has for the Utah Jazz but he’s still obviously a great rebounder or at least a solid rebounder three-point percentage is very promising he can play off ball as well as playmake with the ball in his hands and he’s not a bad Defender I don’t want to call him a great defender yet but has defensive potential still that’s I think still untapped um but like you mentioned Jacob the r protection is something to monitor if you’re trying to exactly so basically you just have chat however that does allow Chad to roam around the rim defensively if lar is able to defend in Perimeter kind of wall up a little bit more yeah I think those are probably the strengths on the floor I have two thoughts here less about him as a player more about like the situation um he’s a guy that like Taylor’s quarterback reference earlier at 18 mli year next year you could like in theory go get lii and then like get another player or two to bolster the roster and like have like next year be a big run that doesn’t mortgage the future per se and like more money falls off the books you can extend them Etc maybe y’all talk about this with yasi I haven’t got to listen to that episode yet um in a marketing trade I think something that’s underrated that could play in Oklahoma City’s favor is Isaiah Joe and um Aaron wi both are do extensiones as well if you can make them they wouldn’t be Cornerstone pieces of a deal for L they’re not they’re good players but they’re more like sweetener kind of guys but if you could throw them into that kind of deal this sounds like counter intuitive but it makes sense if you think about it from a cap standpoint you avoid extending those guys on the same timeline as lri so if you if you made sure those two guys are part of that package and Utah liked them then let’s say that Joe is going to get 18 and Wiggins is going to get eight you’re talking about 26 to 30 million all of a sudden like that uplift on L’s extension doesn’t feel as harsh because two guys you had to extend were moved in that deal for sure and that’s fair I think the offensive fit is awesome the defensive fit is not perfect this one is hard for me to get to because of the trade Utah seems like they want to make a j next season if that’s the case I don’t think they entertain a discussion unless the name jdb is included in the trade and that’s just an absolute non-starter if they decided they wanted to take a step back and grow this thing out over a few years Gideon five picks could get it done maybe giddy Jane five picks I think they like konay George so I don’t know if they take case and WS but it would take something like that and C can I just get for Thunder fans Utah is in the same boat today that Oklahoma City was with Chay three years ago now when it was like does he fit the timeline can he be the number one guy should they trade him now I think Utah’s front office views him similar to what oklah city did although he’s younger then as like no actually we want to pair lii with a star and bring another star in alongside him versus trade him like he he’s he’s their guy they’re not trading literally had that same exact thought this weekend or very similar thought Nick where I just was seeing some Larry tweets and it’s just like it reminded me so much of being a thunder fan back during that time we saw the Shay rumors and Sh should be traed here it’s just so similar and if I were a Utah Jazz fan I’d be pretty livid just like I was with the shap rumor so yeah y it it we we said it the billion times but like the way Jazz fans should feel I was like no we’re not going to trade lii for picks and young players because the hope is that those picks or young players turn into Lui so why would you trade that guy right that’s 100% 100% you guys ready to move on to the next one yes sir you get to pick Jacob you’re up I am taking us back to another former Thunder Carmelo and no I’m kidding okay I was like what the well done what well done uh a guy who is I don’t even know the contract situation here let me look this up real quick player option Paul player option of 48 million this season has not come to an extension with the Los Angeles Clippers yet I’m going with Paul George Paul George 68 220 pounds third just turned 34 years old this last season played 74 games which is promising because before that it was 56 31 54 48 not great 74 games this past Season 22 and a half points on 47 41 91 splits he averaged five rebounds three and a half assists one and a half Steals and half a block a game when you look at his rebounding numbers for where Advanced right here we go this past season 15 a half% on defensive re rebounding percentage 88.8% on total rebound percentage so not the greatest rebounder but you want to talk about a fit defensively and a fit offensively can playmake if you need them to Nick can put the ball on the floor great shooter can fit with other guys who need the ball and need gravity can lock down defensively can take over if you need him to the fit is actually really really really good yeah now would this be a signning trade would this be just a straight up signing because he declines the player option the Thunder could get to a Max spot for him but that’s going to be a lot of years you’re probably paying him till he’s 40 and do you want to do that but the onc court basketball fit is pretty damn good it is I think it checks all the boxes we talked about at the top of the podcast on court offensively defensively maybe minus the rebounds uh it’s all the other St that’s the one thing is the rebounding everything else fits so so well and you’re going to be so good at that point again assuming PG can stay healthy that the rebounding doesn’t really matter as much don’t need a rebound when you score 140 a game correct and and hold people to 90 uh I’ll keep this one simple if it’s a he Ops into his PO and you have to trade assets to get him and then resign him I’m probably not on board if he declines his PO becomes a free agent and you can get him for nothing other than obviously cap space like signing as a free agent um and clearing some money which yeah yeah to totally totally um that I could be more into it just depends on like the length of the contract um maybe he does give you like the home not it’s not a home Hometown but like the um I want to come back and like best season of his career was in OKC like third in MVP voting like he was oh yeah unreal um he’s he’s the kind of guy that I I could I of all like the stars in the league that play in the big cities I could see him being the guy that’s like you know what I understand your situation give me a crap ton of money for two years and I’ll sign it to your deal I don’t have to do the whole four five year Max I could see it so that’s a player that would take away shots from Jay dub Chad Shay like I mentioned but can you imagine Jaylen Williams JB learning from what he could ultimately be in Paul George but healthy like you know on the other side of that coin I like it a lot mean what’s to say um that jdub for two years in theory learning to be a third option and more off ball wouldn’t be good for his long-term game first off correct second off um we like foam with the mouth over the idea of Cam Johnson What if Paul just played more off ball like cam Johnson but then when he need him to to go do Paul George things he could like yes he would take shots like that’s that’s math but if like if you give him Isaiah Joe’s minutes if like you decide I’m going to bring in Paul he’s to suck up a lot of money got to move Joe there’s there’s ways to make it like the shots with a Paul that can do on ball off ball does not concern me the concerning thing with Paul is injuries and are you giving up assets to give him or are you signing in free agency correct one more thought before we bring this full circle and move on to our next player had a good friend of mine text me who’s listening live the value of those clip future Clippers picks if you bring Paul George here yes you’re giving up picks maybe some of those involve those clippers fixs but if you’re able to keep some of those especially if you’re like something crazy happens and this pipe dream scenario and you sign him a free agency those Clippers picks get a lot better for the thunder so just I don’t see the Clippers being willing to move him especially going into that new Arena they need they need stars but I think the fit is really really good yeah you guys want to take another break and we’ll come back and do Dave’s Hot take and wild cards yes sir we will be right back and we are back and we need to tell you about the East Hollywood pop-up sensation you rank it the thunder make a pipe dream trade this summer extra hot I kind of think I’m cheating but I probably go in between extra hot and Reaper uh I would not be crying and like being miserable on my way home from Dave like I was when Nick and I had Reaper it was brutal it was brutal but I uh I still be fing the after effect for sure so I’d go in between extra and Reaper I think it’s Reaper yeah but it’d be awesome if it happened for the content the content boys all right Wild Card time can we go first you go first sure um I have to I have to give the disclaimer for those maybe like joining in late or this is like screen recorded on Twitter somewhere we are talking pipe dream scenarios AKA very small chance it happens and I think this guy is Untouchable but El think is the perfect player in Oklahoma City jayen Johnson of the L Hawks oh you want uh you want me to get some stats before you please do because I I I think contractually I think statistically I think the bodies like Jacob’s thing earlier of like the age too like I I’m probably forgetting guys but like if you think about like the perfect guy that could be incredible for you next year and for like the next decade and grow alongside your core like you’re actually like we’re talking like Dynasty it’s not Kevin Durant obviously because he’s old it’s it’s Jaylen Johnson Jaylen Johnson 69 220 lb 22y old he’ll be 23 right around Christmas time this past season 16 points on 51 36 73% uh splits 8.7 rebounds per game 3.6 assists one and a half Steals and one block per game his rebounding numbers total rebounding 14.1% uh and defensive rebounding 25% which is kind of Awesome huge as Nick mentioned he is under contract for one more year at 4.5 million and then is due a Payday yep I mean h how many guys in the league you don’t have to name them but like number of guys are the better like young guy infinity stone you’re the you’re the fourth guy in this court welcome to shade dub chetland like you’re the fourth guy in the Multiverse in the Multiverse like there’s there’s not many guys that just like fit more like a glove than him this is my favorite Target I think that we brought up the entire podcast I love this one Nick I just there’s no way it happens no that’s we’re on the pipe dream pod again yes but yes um he he’s like phenomenal just so good I love it Jacob do you have a specific player in mind I’ll let you go next I have my guy my guy also Nick oh God is it is it who I think it is who do you think it is Aio let talk about again we did Denny last week can’t be your pipe dream Denny’s not a pipe dream it’s not a pipe dream if it’s reality oh God my dream scenario wild card is a guy who’s not available will not be traded I just think this type of player would be badass on this team does he play for a team that Oklahoma City beat in the playoffs nope oh you think of Trey Murphy I was Trey Murphy would be awesome maybe Trey Murphy’s a better fit I don’t know I just can I take a guess sure n not Naz Reed either but that that’s not much of a pipe kind of a pipe it is a pipe NZ would be yeah that’s agreed probably this guy is not available via trade they’re not Trading give us a conference give us a conference East under 25 yes jarus Walker no what much more accomplished oh is Bam out of Bio under 25 I’m not sure oh I think almost drafted by the Thunder but they missed out by like a pick one spot two spots two spots they missed out by two spots yis oh yeah my one no no two spots uh is he playing Canada yes Scotty Barnes Scotty bar Scot there it is 67 230 pounds he’s almost 23 years old listen to these stats this season 20 points on 47 34 78 splits eight rebounds six assists one and a half steals one and a half blocks per game six six damn his Advanced numbers defensive rebounding he was 19% total rebounding he was 133% not the best three-point shooter but you want the best goddamn defense in the league if he is your four surrounded by Chad Lou dub and Shay oh my God what do you do they’re just going to beat the hell out of you for 48 minutes two questions two questions one assuming same contract same length same everything other than like who they are as a player in their age would you rather have OG or would you rather have Scotty oh Scotty okay not close the follow-up to that would you rather have Scotty or Jay dub God Scotty’s so good dude why not both Scot you got you got to pick one of the too J the offensive ceiling is so much higher I no I agree I don’t disagree with you yeah two players I think Scotty is the ideal fit yeah you’re like you said not getting him but that’s get left open in the corner Y and he’ll just charge in and dunk on you he he will one through five Defender earlier today I said if guys can defend one through five they’re not defending any of them well Scotty is probably the exception Scotty no g yep so I knew that you guys were going to have a players specific players that were way better than anyone that I would come up with which is why I wanted to round us out here what are you g to do you’re picking a player the whole entire podcast we’ve been talking about one specific player why not two what if the pipe dream or maybe a little more realistic than a pipe dream is not trading for the Superstar player but trading for some two of the targets that we talked about with our bigs and our wings one of both maybe uh two of of wings two of bigs whatever it may be they’re on the same team I just in general so like for examp names Nick okay we talk about like Denny AIA and cam Johnson they played 50 I have some stats here for you shout out my guy Donnie who helped me with this Denny and cam Play 50 50 seven minutes per game last season Josh kenrich Wiggins played 55 minutes per game that doesn’t mean obviously that you can just throw Denny and cam in a trade uh with for Josh kenri and Wiggins and throw in picks and just make the trade happen but the point is you could you you have the minutes minutes distributions to be able to bring in two lower tier players and what what you want to call a superstar and make this team really damn good not only currently but for the long-term future so that’s kind of a pipe dream for me what do you think about this if if we’re gonna if we’re going to get real specific here um what if you call Washington and you say hey we like Denny we like czz we probably like Denny a little more than C because like the descending contract and the age and the defense um and Washington says you know what like we’re not GNA compete for the next three to five years probably we’ll deal both for let’s let’s let’s say the same package for Kevin yeah multiple firsts KAS and Josh let’s leave it there like us or you or you could replace us with J there’s there’s flexibility let’s say that the same package for Kevin versus KZ and Denny what do you prefer I don’t think you trade case in in was trade at all for for what it’s worth my opinion like let’s get more generic let’s say the package don’t include names from the Thunder for Kevin and for Denny and CZ are the exact same to Taylor’s Point get two guys versus one what do you prefer I think I go the Wizards package because of what I said earlier I don’t want to look at a two-year window I want to look at a 10-year window and Denny and Denny you just are obsessed with Denny if you gave me the option of adding Denny or Christ I’m choosing Denny both from Israel I’m talking it doesn’t have to be I mean think about the way GMS work the way the league Works doesn’t have to be one trade you can make multiple trades in the off season especially with with uh with prey’s plethora picks and and draft assets or sorry those are both the same thing draft assets as well as players currently on contract that are young like we’ve talked about um doesn’t have to be with the same team again we’re talk we’re talking dream scenarios less likely scenarios on this podcast but I just think it’s worth mentioning it doesn’t necessarily have to be an all it all in put your chips in middle of the table trade for fill in the blank Superstar that’s fair maybe it’s uh Zion and Trey Murphy Jesus now we’re [Laughter] talking would that team win a title this team with Zion and Trey Murphy they should if they don’t disappointment you can keep Zion away from Dave chicken long enough if you got Zion and Trey Murphy that’s what that’s what fans are think about they’re like oh if you had Zion and Trey Murphy yeah to get those guys you got to give up guys you know all of a sudden you’re thin um yeah anyways then you gotta pay them all yeah roster’s thin you got the thickest boy in the league him and Chad would be the weirdest front Court history I’d love it I would love it what would the nickname be uh oh we G have to brainstorm this listeners send in some thoughts after you listen to the podcast Chad and Zion Williamson oh my gosh trying to think something like thick and thin but it’s could be more creative than that I was thinking fat man and little boy but neither one of them’s little and that could be very insensitive for certain overseas fans yeah I don’t know that’s that’s a that’s a problem that we will cross I just got me it ever happens is mildly racist oh my [Laughter] God gentlemen any more dream scenario thoughts pipe dreams no it is it is 10:15 and I’d love to have a real dream right now and go to bed so I think we can probably wrap it up before I let you go of all the names we talked about the trade package it would cost the years they’d be with the team their age everything considered if Sam pry came to you and opened up the binder and said we have the opportunity to get any of these guys here’s what it would take you make the choice can we answer it two ways sure each each it’s one would you like to see two or no one what would you pick two what do you think is most real real istic because none of these are very realistic and Taylor are going first so what would you do and what’s the most realistic Taylor yes you’re like Jacob Nick over here changing the roles mid-season when I was in the lead of our uh our competition and ended up losing yeah sounds like something I think realistic enough given all the disclaimers that we thrown out the entirety of the podcast Jaylen Johnson at the Hawks do Go full rebuild to retool you could probably offer them enough additional assets to make the retool rebuild whatever you want to call it much quicker and I think that fits perfect that would be my maybe more most realistic one of the less realistic options um gosh trying to think that’s realistic what’s your this is the one I would do the one I man I probably go a little more realistic and like Kevin Durant I think is probably getable um but like what my heart wants to do sure let’s go get try uh why I’m going blank on the the uh Pelicans Trey Murphy Murphy thank you and Zion that sounds fun that was a joke Taylor Jesus I know a joke he loves it he loves it but both of those are realistic like what would I do probably go the more realistic route which is Kevin Durant um Jaylen Johnson’s such a great fit I love that n do that one out I think of all the names we discussed tonight A lot of these names were insane um I think the most realistic is Kevin I think what I would do is also Kevin just the storyline the two years it’s just it’s like I can see the 30 for 30 I I can like I can Envision it happen we can make it hero contested we can literally do it it’s it’s not tumon give us access it’s not as crazy as you would think like it’s really not all that takes is like Sun’s ownership does not not want to like rebuild but all it takes is Kevin saying I don’t want to be here like he has multiple times now um I think Oklahoma City is a realistic destination just like matter what is the package and does Oklahoma City want to make that kind of move I don’t know the answer to that but I think KD is realistic and what I would like to see like selfishly this podcast would be on fire for the next 12 months because they’d be playing in June my most realistic is Kevin that’s subjective because none of these are very realistic yeah my most realistic is Kevin the one I would want the most is Dana Denny AIA no uh probably the Jaylen Johnson move is the one I would like the most because of just the age and the fit like you mentioned like that guy that hard on it a great fit great fit it’s not like oh my God they just got the best player in the NBA but the fit and the age and the role and the size and what he does everything just fits so well I think it checks the most boxes yeah I agree thank you guys so much for tuning in to the uncontested if you’re joining us live tonight make sure to 1. Before listening, mine is Lauri and Deni (+ maybe a center from the draft / Hartenstien as a FA).

They need more offence, more size, more spacing, more rebounding – That's Lauri at the 4 and Deni at the 3.

  2. Deni Avdija and Jonathan Isaac has been my thought already for a two players to bring in. Send Giddey to Washington, and Tyus Jones goes to Orlando. Curious what that would cost OKC, #12 and the Philly/Miami 2025 1st's?

  3. The dream player is Jaylin Williams with a little more internal development on his shot, finishing at the rim, and agility?

    6'9-10, 230 lbs, ✅
Physical on guys like Jokic, ✅
Defensive versatility in the frontcourt? He can play alongside Chet, needs a bit more lateral quickness but it's close 🤔
Tough garbage guy making the little plays, ✅
    Rebounding? ✅ (7.8 rebounds per 30 mins)
Shotmaking, off-ball finisher? Eh, needs to work on the shot and his finishing at the rim but it's not far off (Career 38% from 3 on somewhat low volume, 64% at the rim) 🤔
    Playmaking when needed, ✅
Fits in the locker room and culture, ✅
    Availability ✅(both definitions)
Young enough to fit long-term, ✅

  4. My pipe dream would be Jabari Smith Jr. His age would fit nicely although he'd be due for an extension at the same time as JDub and Chet. Get him in the gym to work on his shooting with Chip and he would be a great add that doesn't clog the lane for Shai and Dub. He also could guard every position. A more realistic option for me though would be Jonathan Isaac, we would just have to hope that his injury woes improve. If he were to stay healthy this team would be scary defensively. Throw him into the starting lineup with Shai, Dub, Dort and Chet while having Giddey run the bench unit.

  5. My dream is Bridges + DFS. But Kevin's thing would move mountains, it would be one of the best narratives in the league… and I think that if Presti wants it's done. The Suns are not going to win in the next 2 years with this core, and I don't think you're going to get a better offer (even if it's to move him to a third team and surround Book)

  6. Mine is KD. I keep seeing pictures and videos of Chet and KD hanging out. I love Chet and his mentality and his passion for team above all else. If Chet wants to welcome KD in to the fold, I'm all in. And I HATED KD for leaving.

  7. “Fat man and little boy just dropped a BOMB on Wemby and the Spurs!” is something I need it hear. 70 years is too soon though lol

  8. Two words.. “Deni Avdija”. He’s the perfect mold of a player that you guys described. He’s 6’9, 215-220lbs, can shoot and play make (with chips help he’ll be a lethal weapon), plays great defense (his calling card), is only 23 and is very durable (averages about 70-74 games per year), and is good for this young selfless culture that the thunder have built. He’s literally perfect

  9. Thea dream should be to play with trade some of your future draft picks for a true star because you won't even be able to sign first round picks here soon anyway because you have too many. Can't have like 10 firsts over the next 3 years and sign em all without getting rid of some of the players you already feel are cornerstone pieces
