Oklahoma City Thunder Signing Patrick Williams??
yo what’s going on guys it’s Houston Sports Talk Back to another video day and today we’re going to be talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder potentially signing Patrick Williams Chicago Bulls free agent power and they’re starting power forward or most of the time he’s there starting power forward he started in 30 games this year and played in 43 so in the the games that he played in uh missed a chunk of games due to an injury um but you know he he started in 30 of the 43 games he played in season before played all 82 games and third in 65 uh but you know was the their one of their top five picks from a couple um drafts ago in the 2020 NBA draft and you know he hasn’t been a bust but you know for where he was selected at he should have been better he’s been good he’s uh been a solid rebounder for the Bulls has been really good defensively for the Bulls and has been a decent scorer averaging uh about double digits uh in his career average 10 points per game this past season uh I wouldn’t call him a bus because I think he’s a good Defender uh he’s a decent scorer he’s a decent rebounder and he doesn’t he hasn’t really played a lot of minutes in his career with the bulls um this is crazy actually as a even though being a starter the most minutes he’s average in a season per you know minutes per game is 28.3 this is a guy who was drafted top five overall and is a starter as well it’s a guy who starting 65 games but only averaged 28.3 minutes per game um usually see a starter who’s starting in you know 65 games probably get more minutes in that but uh minutes are a little low in my opinion though as well um and you know I think it’d be an interesting signing for the Thunder but at the same time uh it’s going to be really hard to bring him in because the Bulls want to resign him and he’s a restricted free ages and so any offer uh will be matched by this Chicago Bulls any you know offer sheet that is signed by Patrick Williams with the Thunder can be matched by uh the Chicago Bulls so it’s going to be very hard for them to bring him in but he’d be a great addition to this young core he’s a young guy who’s you know we we talk about you know is he buzz but I feel like a lot of people might forget that this kid is still 22 years old he’s been in the league for Four Seasons but it’s still 22 years old there’s a lot of there’s a lot of uh time left for him turns 23 in August so he’ll be 23 to start off the season but for someone who’s been in the league for Four Seasons is heading into his fifth NBA season and is only 23 years only 20 right now only 22 years old he’s really really young uh to have four years of experience he came into the league at 18 years old so I still feel like even though he’s four years in his career he has a lot of you know he has still a lot of growth in his career to make you know that you know he can still get better um because he’s still really young uh even though he’s been in the league for four years but uh he came into the league at 18 years old which is which is nuts um but yeah um so he yeah he solid this season injuries have been a problem in a couple of his Seasons like it’s a weird thing with him uh his rookie season basically fully healthy uh he 72 Game season due to you know covid and he plays 71 games 71 starts uh now next season 2122 season NBA goes back to an 82 Game season so only plays 17 games he misses a total of 65 games now the next season after that the 2223 season he plays 82 games 65 starts this SE then this season he plays 43 games with 30 starts so it’s like in his career one year he’s perfectly healthy his rookie year the next year he’s he has injury problems injury problems all over the place and then the next season he’s as healthy as a you know as a whistle I mean he is nothing there’s nothing wrong with him at all um plays every single game then this season he misses almost 40 games 30 9 games this missed this season so uh yeah it’s like one year he’s perfectly healthy barely missing a game and if not playing every single game and then uh the next he’s missing if not almost 40 games 65 uh so it it’s been weird with injuries have been a problem for him uh at at such a young age but average 10 points per game this year average four rebounds two assists one steal one block per game um he’s he’s another thing about him he’s a great three-point shooter as well doesn’t shoot the three ball often but uh with over three attempts shot 40% this year is a 41% three-point shooter shooting 41% the season before that and in the 2122 season shot 51.7% on two three-pointer attempts per game and shot 39% in his rookie year a very good three-point shooter uh so you know that’s another thing for him as well Lon are your thoughts on the potential signing for the thunder in the comment section he’d be a great addition to this young Corp I wonder who would step out of the uh starting line for the Thunder even though we saw the Thunder bench Josh giddy at one point or a couple times in the playoffs um I think the the most likely and I don’t know it’ be interesting for the Thunder but I think most likely the guy that comes out of the rotation would be Lou Dort uh and You’ probably see him go to the bench if not traded um because Patrick Williams is a power forward and I would see him him most likely playing power forward and you have ched at the five uh and if you have Shay playing the one uh that means you know that that means if you have you have you have Shay Shay playing the one um and you have Patrick Williams at the four Chad at the five jayen Williams is obviously at the small forward position so uh that means I mean yeah I guess I could see the Thunder playing D at shooting guard but I think they’d rather have kitty at shooting guard but I don’t know uh it’d be interesting to see who would come off the bench and who would start whether it’ be Josh giddy or Lou Dort um if the if the Thunder signed Pat Williams um in the UN unrestricted free agency Li her thoughts and peace out
