AJ “Dairy Bird” Green should be our 5th starter and is poised for a breakout season

Barring any shocking moves, I genuinely believe that AJ should be our 5th starter along side the Big 3 and Brook.

In his first 2 seasons, he has averaged just 4.5 PPG, but has been a sniper from deep averaging 41% on 3 attempts per game. He is also an elite free throw shooter averaging 91% albeit on low volume, but this is still a good barometer to legitimize his shooting adequacy.

AJ would be the perfect floor spacer next to Giannis and Dame. During the regular season, he has shown flashes of making big shots, and he has the potential to grow his offensive game especially as his confidence continues to grow.

Now, the question is on the defensive side of the floor. AJ has decent size at 6’4 and is no pushover defensively. He moves well laterally, and has a great knack for the ball especially when skying for rebounds. He has above average athleticism and I think he has great potential to be one of the Bucks’ best point of attack defenders.

Some of you may think that I am getting ahead of myself…but I’m excited to see how he can make an impact next season. I can see him averaging double digits especially with starter’s minutes

All aboard the Green Machine! Take it away, AJ!

If he can put the ball in the hoop, sure why not? But AJ couldn’t hit a shot to save his life in the playoffs and he’s not a guy you can let shoot through a slump like that.

I wouldn’t mind it at all but I feel like the 5th starter should be someone who’s strictly a defender preferably POA, like Bev/Ajax. AJ is a good defender but you also want him to get a good amount of shots up as a shooter and Giannis/Dame/Middleton will be taking the majority in the starting lineup. I think 20- 30 min off the bench would be best for him tbh.

It’s a shame we only saw it for one game but that Dame/Bev/Khris/Giannis/Brook lineup was destroying the Celtics.

I am a Green fan for sure and he could certainly be a fine rotation piece but I have a difficult time seeing him doing anything beyond coming off the bench

Dairy bird only works if Larry Bird weren’t white

Bucks may not have a choice if they can’t pickup a perimeter lockdown for the two guard spot in the off-season.

Dame, AJ, Khris, Giannis, Brook – I could get down with that. AJ would definitely have to step up on defense, but he did show flashes during the season.

He’s proven he can have a strong run when he gets the time. The issues is Doc. Will that man play someone so young and “new”?
