i mean tbf, why bother when coaches and free agents are fighting over each other to go there.

  2. BigDickVicW

Makes sense given the gap between their drafting and their free agent signings.

  3. QUEST50012

This is rough. We’re treading dangerously close to catering provided by McDonald’s dollar menu territory.

  4. Amazing how every major NBA outlet is focused on the Lakers right now, repeating the same talking points. Those finals ratings must be very disappointing.

  5. Corporate America is terrible and ruins everything until it comes to our favorite sports franchises. Then I want the richest billionaire owner with the most advanced AI scouting computer powered by child labor riding electricity-generating bicycles in a third world country.

  6. Somehow still not as bad as the last few Sarver years for the suns

  7. Lakers gonna draft Bronny and it will be hilarious.

  8. raylan_givens6

Lets be honest, if this franchise were located anywhere else other than Los Angeles , they would be the Wizards

  9. Salty_Watermelon

The Lakers have done pretty well for themselves by putting in minimal effort and simply waiting for the biggest stars to either demand trades to join them or sign via free agency. Once you have big name superstars on the roster, you won’t have trouble finding role players that want to have a shot at a ring.

  10. Relevant_Gold4912

As far as owners they aren’t up there with the other billionaires floating around the NBA.

  11. CoyotesSideEyes

No way a small family business in such a small, poor market could afford to do things like pay scouts.

  12. martinssempa117

I heard they only provide single ply toilet paper in their office bathrooms

  13. everything_raptors

The rest of the league just keeps calling the buss family poor lol..

  14. farturine69

The poorest owner, a former pornstar and nepobaby, completely incapable of running a franchise.

  15. OozaruPrimal

That is a very friendly way to describe a badly run front office.

  16. SensitiveGrowth57

They’re the Pistons with better weather

  17. Viciouscauliflower21

Being the Lakers and in LA covers a multitude of sins. That shit can’t last forever tho. Especially with deeper pockets getting involved in the league that can and will spend on the things that LA won’t

  18. satangod666

which other organisation won 25% of the chips since 2000 tho?

  19. jazzmaster4000

That’s because the buss family is cash broke in billionaire terms. Their entire family value is the team. Not a surprise

  20. Squire_Sultan53

just hire me bro fr, ive played around in 2k for hours doing trades as well as the trade machine

  21. Hungry-Quote-1388

Owners are cash poor team, their “net worth” is 100% linked to the team. If they spend $5 million extra on the FO, that’s $5 million less in their pockets.

That $5 million doesn’t matter if you have $100 billion like some other owners. It definitely matters to the Lakers.

  22. MasterTeacher123

So this is not your grandpas lakers front office

  23. I’m sick of hearing about the damn Lakers during the Mavs-Celtics finals man

  24. Miserable-Lawyer-233

Buss is always looking for ways to save money because she’s relatively poor. The richest person in the Lakers franchise is LeBron. He’s worth over double the amount of the Lakers owner.

  25. The pic they used here is…interesting. Frugal owner with a dumb ass drawing on her heavily worked on face. Too poor to pay for scouts, but rich enough for Jeanie to get all the plastic surgery

  26. ihatemcconaughey

Based on recent draft picks, I’m surprised they even have a scouting dept at all.

  27. Nobody wants to be a slave to Lebron, get fired in 1-2 years and have their coaching reputation destroyed. People are comfortable where they are at

  28. NYerInTex

Let’s be fair. How can a small market team, with almost no history of winning, ever compete in todays NBA?

  29. Tbf the lakers and Yankees don’t have AS MUCH pull as they once did. But yeah…they still have a shit ton. I think the lowball with lue is when it really fucking hit me

  30. And yet they are still in LA

    An uneven playing field

  31. Nepo kids riding out the Lakers brand. The shine wearing off real quick kids. Stop running the team like a mom and pops store.

  32. TaxLawKingGA

This is known and has been the case for many years.

  33. em_washington

Why would they put money or effort into the draft or player development? Their plan is to trade away draft capital for win-now players. They should save as much operational expense as possible and put it all toward player salaries and luxury taxes.

  34. betasheets2

Idk the Lakers but tbis is the absolute worthless sports journalism today. Fuck this trash.

  35. realfakejames

“Frugal” is pretty funny, anyone with a brain knows Jeanie Buss doesn’t like to spend money, she said she would pay whatever it took to give Lebron another shot at a ring and ever since then the Lakers haven’t even been in the top 3 in spending

By contrast Joe Lacob who owns the Warriors is always the top spender or top 3 to give Curry as much help as he can buy, big difference between words and action when it comes to Jeanie Buss

  36. broadwayallday

The scouting dept is called “ the wizards”

  37. afriendlyspider

They’re a poverty franchise and LeBron wanting to make movies is the only reason they’ve had a star player on their team since the Dwight year
