Timberwolves complete the sweep they win a playoff series for the first time in 20 years just like that after the Timberwolves destroyed the Phoenix Suns and eliminated the MVP and the defending Champions After ant laid the trash talk on Kevin Durant FX on Jamaal Murray got called the next Michael Jordan and challenge Kyrie it’s all over at the magical hands of Luca and Uncle Drew Luca and Uncle Drew who didn’t even make the playoffs last season man with the team that just finished getting rebuilt this trade deadline who just really picked up stee at the end of the regular season this team just obliterated Michael Jordan’s alleged son and the defensive player of the year in a game that was over before the first quarter ended well let’s take a closer look at just how Minnesota folded so bad and how the Mavericks just humiliated the trash talking Timberwolves but let’s start at exactly how we got here man these two teams have been toiling at the middle and even at the bottom of the West in recent years except for a lone Conference Finals appearance in 2022 these two teams have been Cannon Potter for The Usual Suspects in the conference hell you’re all familiar with the wolves’ celebrations after winning the play in tournament but now here they are let’s talk about the Wolves first the wolves have been the laughing stock of the NBA for a while from numerous failed Seasons bad mov moves like taking Ricky Rubio and Johnny Flynn over Steph Curry underwhelming performances despite multiple High picks the Jimmy Butler situation this season though they finally made it work a pleasant surprise considering what happened last season Carl Anthony towns is a power forward put up 228 and three on 41% shooting from three earning another All-Star selection Rudy goar being the perfect compliment to the offensive-minded towns finally materialized this season with him getting his hand on his fourth Defensive Player of the Year selection but of course the biggest story of the Timberwolves this season is the monster breakout of this man Ant-Man Anthony Edwards after being one of the only bright spots in the pretty underwhelming Team USA in the 2023 FBA World Cup Ant-Man rode his momentum into this season 265 and five leading the wolves with their best record since kg in 2004 and the third seed getting an All-Star and all NBA selections in the process but let’s get to the playoffs first round against KD and the super team Suns of course the Wolves had the better record by far but you can’t really discount the absolutely scoring Monsters of the Suns Edwards driving by be a 3922 advantage on the glass for the Wolves Edwards T oh it’s on ladies and gentlemen timber wolves complete the sweep they win a playoff series for the first time in 20 years and just like that with all the trash talking and the highflying and the look aiking and just the general swag and Aura ant was being compared left and right to Michael Jordan and the confidence just kept growing and growing as they beat down the defending Champions Denver Nuggets starting with a blowout in game one with a matchup becoming a war between Ant and the Lakers killer Jamal Murray you see a budding rivalry being coming to the summit between these two there’s words between Antman and Jamal Murray oh yeah yeah I just told his ass um that’s what we we love that keep keep talking that that’s what we like well I love it you know so you know he ain’t say nothing back but I’m pretty sure he heard me they heard me we live for that did you really tell the locker room staffer in Denver you were going to be back for hell yeah they y was in there yeah I told him I said I see y’all for game seven yeah and after they got the job done Ant and the Wolves were on top of the world and the certified favorites to face the Celtics in the finals ant was hype and why wouldn’t he be they just bullied the MVP and the defending Champions on defense hadal handc but then and just had to say this it’s going to be fun man you know um my my match up going to be Kyrie so that’s going to be fun that’s going to be fun that’s going to be fun that’s going to be fun and that right there that’s about as high as the Timberwolves is going to get and that brings us to the Dallas Mavericks going into the playoffs the Dallas Mavericks weren’t really favored by a lot of people particularly the ones that didn’t see them pick up steam at the end of the regular season but after completely missing the play in last year they let Luca and Kyrie gel while also making little moves on the side adding a couple of pieces here and there a couple of role players and a promising young big man little did they know that these pieces would be the key to Dallas’s heroic run the Mavs soundly beat the old ass Clippers in six with their new pieces PJ Washington Daniel Gafford and Derek Lively standing on business in this building in front of this crowd previous players being rev for host all I I I’ve done games for 25 years I’ve never seen that Kyrie caps It Off off by stabbing a dagger through his fellow OG’s Hearts to destroy their last chance at a chip for the Dallas Mavericks Irving dancing prancing PS up three-pointer bang but they had to go in the second series as The Underdogs once again with the one seed OKC Thunder in their way MVP candidate Luca going up against another MVP candidate in sgaa it was a brutal and close series with Luca producing his usual magic and Shay just hitting tough shot after tough shot after tough shot Mavs got to a three to2 series lead but it was looking like the Thunder could push it a game seven with a 17-point cushion in the third but with Lucas’s steady playmaking and the Dallas bigs just dominating shett holgren and JB inside they clawed their way back into fourth where the deciding factor was PJ Washington no good Washington got the offensive rebound and now donic driving on DOR can’t pick up the foul he gives it up Washington three ties the game donic drives backs him down gets deep gives it up Washington double clutch three no the tip in and they’re going to call a foul on the shot in the corner by Washington gets the first one the second one’s good misses it intentionally rebound hram three quarter cour Jaylen Willams no and the Dallas Mavericks for the second time in 3 years and now the stage was set Luca and Kyrie backed by a surprisingly great Supporting Cast of hard-nosed hardworking and ice cold teammates against a trash talking on fire next MJ an Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves you said uh you said after game seven probably going to be guarding Kyrie is uh kind of are you looking forward to that match up yeah Luka at all as well or I mean of course yeah me and Jaden going to definitely be I mean we both guard you know the best guys on the other team so we might be Cross Match so yeah I’m going to be on Luka and Kyrie for sure it was supposed to be a long difficult drawn out series at least it looked like that until game one happened Irving will try hard the other way now it’s Kyrie Irving through trafficing for two Washington Irving McDaniels is on him Kyrie well and wanted that challenge but he forgot this wasn’t Brad be or debuk who are shooting guards trying to bring the ball up this wasn’t Jamal Murray who’s more of a scorer himself this is Kyrie freaking Irvin we’re talking about sure it says shooting guard on the stat Sheed but this is literally the greatest ball handler the league has ever seen and ant just gave him some extra motivation apparently ant is the MJ comp but Kyrie’s the one who took it personal reduced ant to looking like this guys just tend to get lazy on the free throw line expecting the shot to either go in or bounce right to him he should have listened to stepen a man and I don’t say that lightly you be careful what you wish for it’s on Countdown the other day be careful what you wish for I was on first take that be careful what you wish for I was on my podcast be careful what you wish for this is not the dude that you want to do that to this Magician on the offensive side of the ball by the way Kai Aid a pretty subpar 16 points in the previous series he scored 30 points in that game one and the favorites were shook they weren’t ready sure they came off wins against KD and then the defending Champions but the Mavs are just a totally different archetype a totally different Beast the Wolves defended the nugs because they matched up well they had a ton of big bodies to throw a joker and guys who could just full court press Jamal Murray into turnovers but you just cannot full court press Luca and Kyrie two of the most elite ball handlers in the world and the big bodies well they just turned that strength into a weakness like how Luca did it to win the close ass game two donic has the ball down by two there’s the switch go Bears out here donic Maneuvers for the lead got it got it what a shot wow I could watch that all day and that’s just how they killed the Wolves man high pick and roll After High pick and roll two guys you don’t want to face on that pick and roll are Luca and Kyrie because they know when to pass it out to PJ Washington or passer Loba to Gafford and Derek Lively the Mavs went up a resounding 3 to zero before losing a close game four even with the team down 3 to1 an still had to go up to Kyrie and be like [Applause] [Music] Young Blood please don’t reach Kyrie and LCA were generous enough to give the timber pups one last game but because of that and because of the guy behind Snoop Dogg in game five we got a LCA special right out of the gate we’ve seen some real agility out of the big fell in this series doic three another one shots re hasn’t been able to get either one of them to the win doic and a 16 doic has it with a lively screen tailed by Anderson doic 14 for Luca on the logo what is going on here from Luca Bic again another three got it he’s a flamethrower Luca pretty much ended the game in the first quarter with that ridiculous barrage 20 in the first 36 for the game and when the second option is also scoring 36 well that results in a blowout 124 to 103 the supposed best defensive team in the NBA with the supposed Defensive Player of the Year getting cooked hell getting burned like that was not something I expected after they defeated the Denver Nuggets but they just didn’t have an answer bro I still can’t believe ant recreated the CP3 meme it’s very iconic he said this back in 2022 it’s ironic that the same thing happened to them in fewer games but they just didn’t have an answer it was a horrible matchup for the wolves all those big men just for Luca and Kyrie to pick up heart and make minc meat out of and just like that it’s all over for the young wolves nothing short of an embarrassing end let’s not mince words the Dallas Mavericks just humiliated the timber wolves ANS going to challenge Kyrie Kyrie’s going to do that cat’s going to say he’s the best shooting big of all time okay here’s what happened to the most important series of his career still kudos to the Timberwolves destroying the Denver Nuggets themselves making it to the conf finals with Anthony Edwards looking like the future face of the NBA all of that but they just ran into a horrible matchup and two of the best one-on-one players in the history of the game Icarus Edwards just seems to become a bit too cocky flying close to the Sun and calling out Uncle Drew tough break despite all of the momentum and the trash talk and the call outs the Mavericks just ended up humiliating the Timberwolves
