What are the Wizards options at pick 26 in the NBA Draft?

what’s good everybody what are some options at number 26 overall for the Washington Wizards in the NBA draft I got three good options that we should consider if the Wizards want to stay put at number 26 let’s talk about it next on locked on Wizards you are locked on Wizards your daily Washington Wizards podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day what’s good everybody it’s your boy Brandon Scott and I appreciate you guys making lock the Wizards your first listen every single day we are free and available wherever get your podcast and on YouTube part of the locked on bonus Bets with any winning $5 bet all you have to do is visit fanduel.com lockon to get started all right everybody as you know the Wizards not only have the number two overall pick but we also have number 26 overall uh which came via the Los Angeles Clippers um so what are some options at 26 you know we talked we have done a lot of content on number two what are the options of two trading back into the lottery but we hav’t talked enough about number 26 so um these are three great options for number 26 so we’re going to get into these three players who I think that the wizard should definitely Target depending on how what direction they go with number two and depending on if they trade back into Lottery but these three guys I know should definitely be available at 26 and should be good prospects for the Washington Wizards in this year’s NBA draft so let’s get into number one on the list tonight y’all which is Jared McCain now look at M Jared McCain um formerly out of the university of duke um for all you Tar Hill fans out there I know I already know but um looking at his intangibles real quick um Jared McCain is six two we’re really 63 and a half at this point um and 203 pounds so he’s a smaller guard um 203 pounds ain’t bad for 6’2 but he’s a little smaller guard so I get it a lot of you guys do like the taller guards in the draft and I’m with you but um around 26 I mean what I’m I’m a sway so uh let’s looking at this 2023 uh 2024 stats I he a averaged around 14.3 points a game five rebounds a game 1.9 assists 0.1 blocks what .1 steals a game he shot 46.2% from the field shot 41.4% from three and 88.5% from the fou line so kind of my reaction to his points uh or his stats overall you know four 14.3 is not bad for a guard um especially guard you know that a school like Duke um because Duke gets a lot out of their point guards man uh five rebounds not bad for a guy who is 6’2 63 U so definitely numbers from there um being a point guard or being a guard um or potentially a point guard in the NBA you know 1.9 assists definitely want to see him be a better playmaker get other people involved 1.1 steals is not bad 46.2% from the field not bad at all round League average was is around 45 and he shot 41.4% which you you like people to be around 35% for three so you know his three-point shot is definitely definitely something I like about Jared McCain now let’s get into what are his trams well his scoring ability his ability to score and his proficiency from three-point range um he is a scoring guard obviously you know he can definitely score average around 14 points but you know his three-point shot is something I definitely definitely like and you looking at a team like the Wizards man we need more Shooters so he’s a guy that you know at 26 man you know he’s a guy he could be on the second unit um he definitely provides some points and three-point shooting which again we need a lot more shooting defense but a lot more shooting so he definitely fits the mo for us man because again he’s shot over 40% from long range so he’s got his shooting accuracy is very very very very impressive um and again you know his ability he’s a very effective when driving to the basket when giv opportuni so um you know his ability to drive the lane and hit from three-point shot are things alike now being a guard can he find ways to get other people involved you know it’s definitely something that you definitely want to develop in Jared man but as far as the scoring guard I like Jared man I really do at 26 man um the third thing I like or um third well I got a couple more things I like but his quickness you know that gives him the opp to attack the basket and create scoring opportunities for himself so I mean he’s definitely a a Score first offensive minded guard you know what I mean he’s a guy who’s looking to score um obviously we already got a guy like that in Jordan P you know Jordan P you know is again another guy where we’re trying to really instill practices where you know he can develop ways to get other people involved you know what I mean so you know Jared McCain is definitely a Score first guard man so um and another thing I really like about him is his rebounds you know grabbing rebounds despite his size 62 average around five rebounds is not too shabby in my opinion so um those are things I really really like about jerem McCain man like I said um let’s get into his cons because with every Pro there is a con so um we thises are obvious I mean lack of height and size for a basketball player um he’s going to have to work that much harder obviously at the next level um he’s gonna have to get into things like footwork because his size you know he’s 6’2 you know you got in the NBA now you know guards are taller now you know you in the mold of SGA you know especially if you look at other guys in draft toit is is a taller guy Stefan Castle is a taller guy um and not to say there’s not smaller guys in the draft because Rob dillingham’s around 63 Reed Shepard’s around 63 but um and it depends on where you want to play J mcain you know is he ready to be a point guard I wouldn’t say so to me he looks like a guy who could probably be a scoring two guard in the NBA especially on the second unit man um so what are other things that I don’t like about jerem McCain the uh deficiency in defense you know his defense is a lot to want yeah he averaged around 1.1 steals I think a lot of that had to do with being active in you know getting in the passing Lanes stuff like that um you definitely want to see him improve in on his defense man which you know in DC man look the MMO is three-point shooting defense rebounding those are the areas that we need to get better at going forward and yes he’s going to provide the points and rebounds but the defense is not there man and like I said we need more guards who can play defense and so you know um his size is is a red flag in my opinion and you know his deficiency in defense is another red flag all right so a couple more things that I do not like um his passing ability again is not broken but it needs to be improved you know it’s just numers definitely need to go up you know to kind of create more opportunities for himself you know if he wants to catch on with the be point guard somewhere he’s got to get this six numbers up like I said I see him more as an offensive minded two guard because I just don’t see a lot in this game that really I think is going to translate to being a point guard in the NBA man um so and and again another you know weakness is focusing on scoring over passing so I mean he’s a Score first guy and so for that reason you know do I think the Wizards to take a chance on Jared McCain um and I’m G say no I’m G say no I do like Jared McCain um but the lack of defense and him being scored first we have enough guards that Score first and we need to improve the defense you know Jordan p is one of those guys where great score you know he definitely he’s a walking basket he knows how to put the ball in the hole but we need to find ways to you know to help him find other people get involved and that’s the biggest thing with Jordan p and looking at Jared McCain you know adding another guard in the mix who can’t defend who’s you know his shot is intriguing his scoring ability is intriguing but to me we need more defensive minded players on this team and jerem McCaine doesn’t fit that mold for us man so um would I be unhappy we got him no but at 26 I do think we have other options and so uh you know I’mma say no right now you know I you know not to say that I would be unhappy if we picked him up but his defense scared me and the fact that he’s very Score first and him with him being a guard at 6’2 you know again in the modern NBA man two guards are taller guards and his lack of Defense where does he really fit he doesn’t have the skills to be a point guard per se but he I don’t know if he really matches up with the average two guard in the NBA either so I’m gonna say no because his defense is a r flag to me and his lack of playmaking ability is R flags and I think he’s just a offensive mind of guard and I don’t know if he fits in DC so I’m going to say no but there is a couple guys who are taller guys who I think could definitely be targets for the Washington Wizards at number 26 in the NBA draft and Don Holmes and Kyle filipowski so we’re gonna talk about donon Holmes in a minute but before we do tonight’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel so summertime means baseball yes the your team every single day so let’s get into it and we’re gonna get into the next person on the list who is Don Ron Holmes now I will say he is very triing especially at number 26 overall because again it depends on what direction do we go with number two and if we trade back into the first round which I definitely think we should and will but I definitely think we should try to say number 26 because again this is not a a favorite draft for a lot of experts or GMS and especially for a lot of teams who are win win now mode because you see a lot of teams who are win now mode who are in the top 10 to 15 they’re looking to move their picks especially looking at you know number three Houston Rockets I definitely see them um switching with Memphis at number nine because they need you know they’ve been linked to uh Donan clean who is also a guy that I like in the draft but you know number nine Memphis again 15 Miami and 13 second menal I think are a couple of team or teams in the top 15 who give us the best chance to trade in but I definitely think we should retain number 26 and try to grab as many prospects in this draft as we can I think that three in the first round could definitely do as far as starting a youth movement in the 202 so let’s get into Don Holmes man Don Holmes the second ad is uh looking at his intangible 610 um 7 foot wingspan 235 pounds so definitely like the height and weight now um obviously a lot of the prospects we’ve been looking at potentially in this draft are seven-footers but we’re gonna get into more I’m definitely gonna swe you guys why he could very well be an option at number 26 overall so looking at some stats from this previous season he averaged 20.4 points 8.5 rebounds 2. 2.6 assists 2.1 blocks and he shot 54.4% from the field 38.6% from three big number but 71 uh. 3% from the foul line aka the charity strike so what do I like and what I dislike about the stat line the points man you know we definitely need a guy who can score in the paint you know right now we have Mar Marvin Bley the third who believe has 611 you kind of you know he’s kind of in the mode of of um donon Holmes where um he’s a guy who’s very Scrappy you know he can score in the paint he can stretch the floor you know 38 .6% from three I love that because he fits the M of the modern day big he’s a guy who can stretch the floor and really get add more capabilities to the center position man as far as spreading the floor overall for the Wizards as a team um so obviously the blocks I like 2.1 blocks again we need a guy we need a rimit we need a guy who’s going to lock down the paint add points of rebounds to the paint um so I definitely he I think he checks those boxes as far as stats let’s get into some of his pros and his uh strengths right well versatility you know he can score in a post as a law of threat he can shoot from three again he’s shot 38.7% from three um he’s a very suable Defender with a long wingspan you know so he can definitely you know match up well against your power forwards and your centers so he’s very versatile which I like man like because if we don’t get alexar donon Holmes is a guy who’s kind of in his mode man where he can play center but at 610 he can also play um Power Forward High motor defensively you know you know he’s a good rebounder good shop blocker but his high motor I love his excuse me I love his motor so those are things I like man um I think that you know he’s definitely improving on the glass he shows potential to be a really good rebounder he can definitely develop to be better but he has the potential to be a really really good rebounder in the NBA in my opinion but his high motor man you know he’s versatile he’s has a high motor he’s got he’s got you know he’s a guy who’s going to move and I like that about man I like that about him a lot um couple things I like man um I think he could definitely be an effective passer um especially in the pick and pop situations um you know the pick and roll I think he can definitely be very active in pick and pop and pick and roll situations man um so like I said I think he definitely can fit not only as Center but actually um definitely at power forward so this versatility is something I really really like so so what are some weaknesses what are some cons because again with every Pro there is a con so what are some question weaknesses about his game well you know limitting experience against top competition you know um so there are questions about how how fast is he G adjust to the NBA in the pace of the NBAA um you know looking at some other things about a scout report you know he um he occasionally telegraphs passes and struggles with ball control so turnovers have been an issue um and another thing about him um again he is slightly undersized for the you know for the NBA a 610 so could he be better at the four I think so he could definitely be an undersized five but I think that if you indeed draft donon Holmes the second man I definitely think that he you know you should definitely take a look at him at the power forward position so looking at his weaknesses and his cons man he has a lot more pros and cons I mean um he’s undersized slightly for a big man roow at the five so I definitely think that he could play the five but he’s best suited at the four but you know his ability to stretch the is I like but there are questions from scouts about can he sustain that shooting in at the next level and I definitely think that I think he can I think his ability you know to stretch floor and what he can do in the paint he’s a very intriguing Prospect at number 26 if we indeed do not go donin Kling in a number two or if we don’t trade back in and get a kware or a Zack 80 um I definitely think the Ron Holmes is a prospect we need we need to definitely consider at number 26 so um another guy to look at number 26 Kyle Phil ilowski let’s let’s dive into him real quick all right so real quick um pull up Kyle filipowski now filipowski is again is a guy who I think we definitely need to consider at number 26 and there’s a lot of reasons why uh let’s get into his intangibles coming out of Duke another Duke guy man must be Duke’s day all right so he is seven-footer with a 611 wingspan 248 pounds so know he’s got the weight he’s got the height um to be a decent Center or power forward coming out of the draft in my opinion looking at his stat line from this previous season he averaged around 16.4 points 8.3 rebounds which I definitely like uh 2.8 assists which ain’t bad for a big 1.5 blocks and 1.1 steals per game so defensively he’s very active in defense shot 50% from the field but he did shoot 34.8% from three which just as bad definitely want see him improve but is not bad for his size and 67.1% from the charity strike now his father was actually a a basketball player too uh Dave filipowski played at slippy Rock University from 1979 to 198 and his mom played basketball at Long Beach State from 82 to 84 so he definitely comes from a basketball family so let’s look at some of his pros and some of his cons let’s start with the pros right what do I like about F man um other than him being Duke which drives my wife crazy because she’s a Tar Hill fan um perimeter oriented big man so he’s definitely has versatility on offense you know he can stretch floor definitely want to see his uh three-point numbers go up but you know if you round it up he’s shot 35% so he just round League average last year um but he has the ability to stretch the floor so I definitely like that because again it fits the M of the modern day Center um let’s see playmaking is not bad he’s decent and so he’s not bad playmaker or ball handler at his size you know he average around 3.1 assists but I you know I definitely would play him to his strengths so um but again another thing I like is he’s capable of scoring many ways off the dribble from the perimeter in the paint you know he’s very versatile with scoring man and again he vs that M at the modern day big and I think that we need a day big in the mode of a Marvin Bley third Marvin Bley third fits that mode and he’s done well in DC we need a guy behind him and we have that in Tristan vich but again I think that with this draft man uh we we do have needs whether it’s immediate needs or long-term needs and really the long-term needs are really the same thing as immediate knes which is you know probably add another Center another point guard probably um probably another two guard you know in my opinion and you know uh Philip palski man he’s a guy that I really really like um another thing I like man is um oh a couple things I like he can finish at the rim with either hand and he’s effective in mid-range so he can shoot the mid-range he can shoot the three he can finish with style he can finish with both hands and he you know he shows a lot of Promise in the pick and roll in a pick and pop as not only orchestrating but being that threat in the pick and pop as far as shooting so um lot to like about uh Kyle filipowski in my opinion man seven-footer who can play the five and a four so definitely as a lot of Versatility to um the long-term vision of the washingt Wizards and what they want to do because look we all know that that Will Dawkins likes guys who could play multiple positions you know um so you loves versatile guys and I think that Kyle Philipi he fits the mold being very uh versatile you know being able to play Not only five and seven foot but also play the four you know he can shoot the mid-range he can finish both hands he can shoot three-point shots you know he can get active in pick and roll pick and pop so um there’s a lot to like about the kid now what do I not like about Kyle filipowski um you know he has to show a lot more consistency with his offensive game um you know Scouts are saying that he can be prone to disappearing in some nights and um you kind of um once you dive deeper in a lot of his scouting reports that seems to be a very common occurrence as far as scouting reports is you know inconsistency with offense so you definitely want to see him be a lot more consistent especially with three-point shot in his mid-range shot with his size you definitely you know you want to say out the gate he should be polished playing scoring in the paint but um he definitely has to be a lot more consistent across the board um now he can finish down low but due to a lack of explosiveness you know that can be a struggle depending on the opponent so there’s definitely an area that he need to show up if he wants to translate in the NBA so um another thing I don’t like rebounding you know he’s not an elite rebounder you know rebounding is an area where he’s going to have to get better especially on the offens of rebounding you know Ste you know setting himself up uh blocking you know blocking out you know he’s definitely got to get better better as far as his his body in the best position to get rebounds especially offensive rebounds but overall with him and Don Holmes man would I picked him up and like you said I would depending on what we do with the number two overall pick and if we trade back in you know if we go center with Donovan King in the number two um then you probably don’t go filipowski or donon Holmes with the number 26 if you go nor Direction number two and you trade back into the lottery and you pick up a kware or Zack Edy then still you probably don’t go Philip Kapowski or Don Holmes or we’re gonna talk about Missy adab Baylor uh this week also but if you go another Direction with number two and you stand Pat at 26 Kyle filipowski or donon Holmes the second I think are two guys you need to look at if you’re the Washington Wizards because they are bigs who are versatile and they they they can stretch the floor and they have a lot more pros and cons man and I think there a couple really good prospects going forward man so again um these three guys man definitely comment below let me know what you guys are thinking like I said um we’re going to get into the intinerary for the rest of the week and U kind of see where we’re going for this week and call it a night but before we do tonight’s episode is brought to you by better help so as you guys know I said it time and time again man I am a big believer in counseling talking to somebody man you know there was a time in American society where it was taboo you know you didn’t want to be associated with talk to a counselor you know but that it’s not like that anymore you know talking to a counsel is something that is pushed forward by the society and it should because you know we all need to talk to somebody so look if you’re thinking about starting therapy please give better help a try it’s entirely online designed to be convenient flexible and suited to your schedule which those reasons alone are a Bigg reason why people do not get into counseling just fill out a brief questionnaire to get matched with a licensed therapist and switch therapist anytime for no additional charge so look get it off your chest with betterhelp visit betterhelp.com NBA today they get 10% off your first month that’s better help hp.com lockon NBA and for my best of my military folk is Hotel echol liap papa.com lockon NBA all right everybody um so these are three good prospects like I said I’m going to cover um Missy um the center out of Bor this week but looking forward a little bit um we’re going to do a little bit of free agent stuff I don’t see us being very active in free agency so it’s going to be very minimal um but we’re going to take a look at free agency this week we’re look at some trade scenarios this week and I get it man like you know I told you guys from to get going into the allseason that I was going to do my due diligence on most if not all the prospects in this draft um so again I told y’all man I’m I’m put in a lot of work with the draft man because the draft is coming up in a couple of weeks y’all so um like I said we’re going to wrap up the drafts up but we’re gonna look at some free agency and definitely some trade scenarios because again I definitely think that either a we’re definitely going to trade back into the first round or B Kyle kman is definitely going to be dealt in my opinion and I think that they probably put together in St and one you know he’s probably going to be part of any deal trading back into the first man so we’re going to look at trade scenarios uh free agency uh fits and other things man so again appreciate you guys walking with me man and comment below let me know what would you guys consider any of the three these guys at number 26 overall so definitely comment below and let me know what you guys are thinking so like I said uh next video I’m going to get into uh the center out of Baylor Missy um and some other prospects at 26 and the 51st pick in the second round so again appreciate you guys man I will see you guys tomorrow night Hail to the Wizards and peace see you guys later

Brandon looks at three prospects who could be options for the Wizards at pick 26.
