[Woj] As Boston’s Kristaps Porzingis told reporters, he’s determined and expects to continue to try and play with this tendon injury in the Finals. For now, there’s no indication he’ll be ruled out and not permitted to try in Game 3, sources said.

Is this… hope?
I mean this is Woj basically saying KP will probably play.
Is this the right move? Will it work out? No freaking clue but, I kinda do expect we see him out there in game 3, in some fashion.
lol we really just don’t want to give the Mavs any clear answer. As a fan it gives me anxiety but I also love not letting them prepare
if KP plays and we win it all, “I’ll die out there” should be immortalized all over the garden.
are we so back??????
It appears….the Celtic’s doctors will evaluate the risk on whether this could lead to a more serious injury, and make their call on whether he should play.
It looks like KP doesn’t give a shit. I’d wager if it falls into the unlikely category there will be even more damage, they will let him try in G3.
“He’s doing anything and everything he can to play tomorrow. It’s a serious injury,” Joe Mazzulla said Tuesday. “At the end of the day, the medical team is not going to put him in any bad situations. We’ve taken the decision to play out of his hands.
“He’s going to do everything to play, and we’re going to leave it to our medical team, and that’s really it.”

If medical staff approves of him playing then I’m fine with it. Don’t want him to further the injury risk but we’re 2 wins from a title and I don’t want to see Kornet play minutes
If there is a game to risk him is game 3. If we wait more games he will probably be on the same status and Dallas would have momentum.
If he’s able to go and just stand in the corner and keep the spacing, that would be massive
If he plays 15-18 minutes and Tatum finds his fucking shot, that’s all we need to win Gane 3
WE ARE SO BACK
Even if he just goes out and stands around, it would be more impactful than playing Kornet
He’s locked up for 2 more years and probably sees this title as his legacy since he may not have another shot at a title. Even a catastrophic injury with all the money he has made might be worth it to him considering the advancements in surgery. He’s already made 175 with another 60 guaranteed. If he plays through injury and we win he’s immortal and has a shot at Finals MVP. Were he someone younger who hadn’t made his bag and had all time HOF great hopes, it might be different.
I know it’s not a 1:1 comp because of the Blazers and UCLA titles but it sure does seem like Walton cherished the 86 title more than anything else he ever did and this overlaps in some ways.
if kp dont play, Kornet is going to get open dunks all day but will get cooked on defense
They haven’t given us a *real* indication that he’s gonna be out yet. Day to day is way better than doubtful
I’m no doctor but to me it makes sense to continue what we’ve been doing; starting Al, bringing KP off the bench, and seeing if he can give us a few valuable minutes. Bear in mind that he played the rest of the 3rd and some of the 4th after the injury and looked fine for most of it.
If we can go up 3-0, the series is pretty much over so I don’t see the point of waiting until Game 5 like some are saying.
This tracks with what Joe said in his availability. It’s obvious he’s going to try to play. When he injured his calf, the communication was he’d be out multiple weeks and there was no getting around it. This is not that. They need to nurse him through, at most, 5 games in a 12 day span. If the medical team thought he’d be unable to do that, they’d probably know that already.
I won’t pretend to know how much it will or won’t affect him, but if there’s even a chance he can play with it, that’s probably a good sign. Maybe it’s just about managing pain. Or treating it in such a way to maximize range of motion. I don’t know; I’m not in any sort of medical field.
I don’t think the question is “can he play?” The real question is, “how limited will he be?” Boston will need to do everything they can to keep him out of the action defensively as much as possible. The last thing they need is KP being isolated by Luka or Kyrie 25 feet from the basket.
Wouldnt it be wild if he comes out explosive again in G3 and just shellacks dallas again thinking hes injured and banged up.
But mazulla also said they took the decision out of his hands
We can may by Classic Iowa basketball 6 on 6 rules? Keep him on one side of the court
Unless he’s literally unplayable, he should see some game time. This close to a championship, the medical staff should do anything in their power to make him perform even at least up to 50%.
honestly I’m also comfortable with Oshae getting more minutes.
it was fine against Turner Siakam and Toppin, I’m sure it’s more than fine against PJ Washington, Gafford and Lively.
We still have 5 of the top 7 players on the court. We can do this.
Fuck curt shilling. It’s time for the Tingus Tendon Tear game.
Suture that shit and give us bloody sock game part 2
