Bulls wanted two firsts for him at the deadline

No matter who we get (be it LeBron, PG, BI or even Zach Lavine idec), Caruso should be close to our #1 target afterwards. Very cheap so we can still retain most our cap holds and absorb him straight into our cap space (or trade Reed’s money for him, who Bulls can then cut).

Joel was suffering this year. After Melton went down, we legit had ZERO great perimeter defenders, with guys like Oubre, Lowry, Tobi, Batum being varying levels of effectiveness based on the matchup. And even Melton’s good defensive matchups was limited because he was short af. Joel had to go 1v5 anchoring the paint, and it often left him in very poor positions for rebounds. Speaks to how good Jojo was, that we were still a top 5-7 defense when he was healthy

Caruso is one of the 2-3 best perimeter defenders in the league. He could be a liability spacing wise, but his % wasn’t that bad (low volume though), but more importantly he gives us a guy who can start next to Tyrese and actually helps Joel in PNR coverages and locking down in isos when Jojo’s out of the play.

We should absolutely trade #16 + another asset (wouldn’t be the biggest fan of giving two firsts for 1 yr of Caruso, maybe they could give us something else with him too)

Why is “essentially sports” constantly getting link spammed around reddit? 🤔

Think it’s time for the fan base to start considering what the optics of the Embiid tenure will look like over time if we never make a true run

At this point im at fuck it territory. As long as Maxey is here this team should be good enough to work around the play-in. Trade every fucking asset that’s not a 1FRP from 3 years out to go for one last run with Embiid. If it works great and if it doesn’t they gotta tank again anyway. I don’t give a damn about any 1st rounder from this draft or next draft. The odds of them helping us significantly in a title run is next to 0.

The window is closing. If you don’t want to go all in just fucking trade Joel and reconfigure the timeline entirely around Maxey.
