Unless you wanna trade Kat, Garland is pretty much off the table.
And I think he helps this team a lot more hypothetically than he actually does realistically, at least if we wanna win right now.
He’s been a career playoff underperformer and has played like a deer in headlights in both of their playoff runs. He has had significant turnover problems in crucial spots in both the regular season and playoffs since Mitchell arrived in Cleveland.
I don’t exactly think that’s something we need at the point guard position with this group of guys.
I live in Ohio and everyone around me are Cavs fans so I’ve heard about for the past 2 years. I don’t think he’s a lost cause by any means but he’s been extremely underwhelming since Donovan Mitchell came into town and I think trading for him is a much bigger risk than people realize.
He simply has not looked like the guy who was an all-star in 21-22 the past 2 years, and has been flat out bad in some really important spots for them.

You aren’t getting Garland for KAT. Why would Cleveland want him?

As far as KAT trade targets, Garland is basically the floor I’d accept.
But I’d prefer to get someone bigger and more athletic.

Garland has regressed since playing with Mitchell and I don’t think it’s a better situation for him as far as playing next to Ant who also takes the ball out of his hands. Garland has been pretty injury prone in his career, but so has Towns the past 5 years. The best thing about Garland besides being younger and closer to our young players timeline is that he is a fantastic lobber. The Garland to Rudy connection could be something special Salary wise I believe it would have to be Garland and Strus for Kat. If we do that, we would need to have a way to get at least one more decent backup big with Naz starting.
