Best Potential Fits for the OKC Thunder at pick #12 | 2024 NBA Draft

Best Potential Fits for the OKC Thunder at pick #12 | 2024 NBA Draft

today’s video I’m going to be going over some of the players in the upcoming 2024 NBA draft who I think could be potential targets for the Thunder this isn’t necessarily A ranking of the players I think the Thunder should look at with Pick 12 but more just an overall list of some players who I think could fill needs or just help the rich get richer by filling in spots on the roster with high upside the groups of players that I have are plug-and playay fits project players and sleeper picks and I could see these players being taken a 12 but also potentially taken if the Thunder were to move back a few picks off of number 12 but with that said let’s go ahead and get started with the first group of players the first group of players that I want to look at are who I see as plug-and playay fits who I think could be effective as soon as year one and with that being said let’s go ahead and look at the first Prospect and Jared McCain McCain doesn’t have great size standing at just 6′ three but I think he has awesome feel for the game he’s a knockdown shooter I really like his connective playmaking potential I don’t necessarily see him being too much of an on ball Creator at the next level but I think if the Thunder were to select him here at 12 he could be a potential replacement for Isaiah Joe if his asking price gets a little too high all in all I think Jared McCain would really help with perimeter shooting year one defensively he will have to continue expanding that part of his game but all in all a really fun Prospect with high off defensive upside who I think would fit really well next to our Stars like SGA jdub and chat Tristan the Silva is probably my favorite Prospect to take at number 12 I see him as playing a power forward role he isn’t super strong or athletic and honestly doesn’t the re rebound the ball exceptionally well but he’s an awesome floor spacer I think he’s a really good passer all in all he does have the physical tools like size and length to fit into Oklahoma City’s defensive system I think he is a really well polished Prospect and you know may not have a super high upside but what he does bring to the table is already there and I think that he would fit really well with our starters if we SL him in at the four bumping jayb up to a small forward which I think works better for him all in all I love him I think he’s an awesome fit for the Thunder and at the moment he’s who I would like for the Thunder to select with number 12 next up I have Dalton connect connect is a pretty explosive scoring threat I think that if the Thunder were to select him at 12 I could see him coming off the bench as a backup Wing kind of you know adding additional scoring to our already loaded roster I do think he’s a little bit underrated as a Defender and an athlete and I think that the Thunder does a great job of bringing that out of players and all in all if he was able to fall to 12 I would be super excited to take him I think he would fit well in our system and just adding another shooting option would be extremely helpful for us going forward a solid option for a plug-and-play big man for the Thunder would be Kyle filipowski I’m not a big Duke fan I kind of hate on Duke prospects a little bit but filipowski does bring stuff to the table that I think would work really well with the Thunder I think if you were to play him alongside chat he’s a good enough passer and floor spacer to create easy looks I think he’s going to struggle quite a bit on the defensive side when he gets to the NBA but all in all he has a well-rounded game knows how to play well within a system I do think he makes sense for the Thunder but I would just prefer us taking a different type of player or even a different type of big man to plug in next to chat but as I said I think filipowski does fit well offensively he can open a lot of things up for us but all in all I think that this is a little too rich for filipowski I think he’s a solid player just you know struggles with a lot of key pieces of being an NBA big man especially when playing in a five out system like the Thunder like to use my last plug-and-play Prospect is Devin Carter I know the Thunder don’t really need another point guard on their roster but Carter I think can also Excel off ball he’s maybe the best point of attack defender in this draft class and also is a great rebounder especially for his position and size I think he really fits the Thunder culture that they’re trying to establish and even if he didn’t start I think he is one of the best options for the Thunder second unit going forward in terms of who’s controlling the ball pushing Pace really everything he’s a decent shooter but I think his form suggests that he can continue improving with that and once the shot attempts drop and he’s no longer the first option for a somewhat eh team I think that’s really going to open up his game and expand what he’s able to offer at an NBA level this next group of players is who I view as more of projects for the Thunder if they were to take them at 12 I only have three guys in this group and recently all three of them have kind of been getting hyped up but I do think that they’re a little bit more raw than what they get credit for but regardless I think that they could potentially be great picks to get at number 12 Cody Williams has definitely been on the radar of Thunder fans really just because he’s jdub’s younger brother but he’s a 68 wing with pretty good guard skills he is really raw I think really just with his over all game but he’s shown flashes throughout the season especially before his injury that I have absolutely loved I think he’s a really awesome shooter at this point in his career and definitely still has a lot of room to grow but defensively he’s kind of me at times he has shown flashes throughout the year of how well he can move his feet and just in general stay in front of a opponents but all in all I think he does have quite a ways to go but regardless even if he wasn’t jdub’s brother I would be super excited to get a player like this on the Thunder roster tjon Salon is a really strong and athletic forward whose highlight tapes admittedly it does look like a top 10 pick but I think he’s a lot more unpolished than most people realize I do think that if you go back and watch some of the full game tape of his it’s easier to see a lot of the aspects of his game he needs to improve but all in all if he did make it to 12 I think his upside is one of the highest in this class and should be something that even a contending team like the Thunder should consider he’s a little bit plug-and playay he can bring certain certain things to the table such as his outside shooting on set shots I think that can be effective pretty early but all in all I think he has a longer road than most people realize but a real possibility for a steal in this draft if he did make it to 12 Tyler Smith has been one of the more intriguing power forward prospects in this class his offensive game is super impressive he can stretch the floor shoot threes and he’s also more than athletic enough to attack the basket whether he has the ball or if he’s being set up by a teammate the big struggle with him is on defense his feet are surprisingly slow and throughout this past season I think he did a pretty poor job with his hip mobility and how well he can switch directions while trying to stay in front of the ball but definitely the type of prospect that a lot of teams would be really interested in taking a chance on I think taking him at 12 is a little too high but like I’ve been saying the upside is definitely there and could be a fun player if the draft if the Thunder drafted him at number 12 I would trust in him and be really excited to see whatever he was able to become the last group of players that I want to talk about in this this video are who I see as Sleepers for the 12th pick if they were selected by the Thunder at 12 I would be pretty shocked but I also could see the thought process behind it and these are some of my favorite prospects in the whole draft that I have in this group and if we were to select them or I should say if the Thunder were to select them I would think that we would have traded back to somewhere between 15 and 20 but regardless I’m really interested in this group of players and think that they’re handful of fun names for [Music] sure the first player I want to look at is kaon George he’s a knockdown shooter with great size standing at 6’8 he has shown flashes of guard skills with his ball handling and even his passing ability but I it’s just pretty far off from what I saw at Miami I love his long-term upside but I don’t think it’s as safe as a bet as some of the players I had in the previous group for him to live up to it but a super fun player a lot of offensive upside defense is quite a ways off but as I mentioned he’s 6’8 has long arms so I believe that that will get better once he learns more about NBA defensive systems Pome dadd is one of my favorite International prospects in this class I think the offensive game is what I’ve been most impressed with he does do a good job of attacking the rim off the dribble mainly through attacking Closeouts but I think his off ball offense is what has been most impressive for me he has a high motor great size rare stops moving and he has shown Flash’s on ball of creating jump shot looks for himself but the shooting stuff with him is kind of all over the place he has really good flashes you can see those in the highlights but in general a little iffy but I’m a big fan and would be super happy if the Thunder got him Zach Edy is a prospect that definitely has a lot of people torn shout out to my friend Anthony he buys the upside he thinks he’s translatable I think that the things that most people see Zack Ed struggling with really get overblown I don’t think you know that he’s a real switchable Defender but I think he moves his feet a lot better than what he gets credit for he is about the biggest guy that I’ve ever seen and I think the interior finishing is definitely going to translate I think the rebounding is going to translate and I think teams looking for him to play over 20 minutes or so a night are kind of overvaluing him but if he is playing a somewhat limited role I think he can be super effective with that I think as a pick and roll and also just a postup player I think that that’s going to work just fine for him I do see him carving out a pretty long career in the NBA whether that’s as a starter or not but a lot of the mobility issues people see I don’t think are much worse than a player like Jonas funis who you know isn’t a super mobile player but it’s serviceable he does good enough with it and Ed’s interior touch is something I think a lot of teams would love to have C wear is a stretch five lob threat who I think can be pretty effective in limited rotational minutes as early as his rookie year but his upside has to be really intriguing for most NBA teams we’ve seen over the past few season how lob threats and overall athletic big men can make immediate impacts and I think khil wear is going to be the next in line for that mold he will definitely need to add some strength primarily on defense with bigger bodied NBA centers but I think that that does get overblown to some degree because a lot like what I used to say with Chad he’s not going to be playing against yices and emids every single night and even if he did nobody can guard those big body physical gifted sinners like yic or embiid but wear is a very fun Prospect I was a big fan of his going back to last season and I do buy the upside and would love for the Thunder to get him even if it was trading back a couple of spots but all in all I’m a fan the last player I wanted to talk about is donon Holmes I’m a big fan of Holmes he really can do a little bit of everything he has good strength strength good athleticism is a somewhat switchable Defender he has super long arms and that really helps him to challenge jump Shooters as well as opponents driving to the rim he’s a good passer out of the post but I don’t know just how much playmaking he’s going to be asked to do but you know in situations where he is doubled on the post I believe in the ability to find open shooters or Cutters and he did have a lot of defensive I wouldn’t say mistakes they were more of learning moments for him throughout his time at Dayton but I do think he has improved still has a little ways to go but he has quick feet is a real mobile big men and I think that that’s something that is going to improve pretty quickly and should be able to carve out minutes for himself regardless of where he ends up and be a somewhat effective backup big as early as his rookie year well that’s going to wrap it up if you want more in-depth breakdowns on any of these prospects be sure to check out our website I will have a link in the description below and be sure to like follow And subscribe this is Jace thanks for watching plus basketball

These are some of the prospects that I think the Thunder could be interested in with the #12 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. This is not a ranking or anything, but I broke them down into three different groups, Plug-and-play, Projects, and Sleepers. In most drafts, I would only have 3-5 prospects in a video like this, but this draft is so wide open to me so I wanted to include more options. I don’t spend too much time on each prospect so visit my website for a more in-depth breakdown at the link below! https://www.plusbasketball.net/

  1. Tidjane won’t fall past 7 which makes the spurs take him at 4, rockets or wizards will get a haul and he will go top 3 🤐 heard it hear first – chickenwinck

  2. Sorry but we ain't taking a guard got to many as is we need size first this team ain't winning without more size especially in the west we have to get more physical and get more off boards it killed us in the playoffs against Dallas

  3. What’s up with all the guards? Guard play is not why we lost? We need size that can shoot. And the one we need u down playing bc he is from Duke.. some to spread the floor and help rebound.. when winning the championship!! We good on guards

  4. "Kel'el Ware is a stretch five lob threat" I'm sold. NAH FR, I'm with Anthony on the Zach Edey take. I saw a big man get clowned on with switches in a series vs the Mavs… and he won DPOY. Everyone's gonna have their weaknesses, but I think his strengths will make up for it.
