Lakers FIRE SALE Trade Targets with Hawks Rebuild? | Lakers BEST Chance for Dejounte Murray/T.Young!

[Music] welcome back everyone like I often talk about after a player gets linked to the Lakers it really never goes away and well we are watching that happen again right now we have already talked multiple times about guys like Donovan Mitchell Bruce Brown and even Demar D rozan all of which have been linked to their team again this summer and likely will be until they retire though there’s not always a lot of truth behind the trade rumors I I mean it does take two teams to make a trade after all and if one of them is not willing to make a trade then you cannot really expect one to happen and that is why we rarely see any of these trade rumors actually come true however every once in a while one actually does happen or at the very least gets close to happening and the thing that tends to make them happen is when a team enters to rebuild although them having a player the Lakers have wanted for some time which might be the case for the Atlanta Hawks I mean I think we all know about the Lakers having interest in their back court with them having been link heavily to both Trey young and to jeon Murray and according to reports Atlanta might be willing to trade both of them now keep in mind the latest report about this does happen to be coming from Bill Simmons who is not the most reliable source but then again there’s been plenty of talk about them being traded I mean we have heard from W Shams and even Mark Stein Atlanta being likely to trade at least one of them and if they are willing to trade one of them or even both of them then that probably means they’re willing to trade nearly anybody on their current team meaning they could be willing to have a full-blown fire sight sale and if that would in fact happen then I think the Lakers should definitely get involved the primary target for them would obviously be younger Murray but Lanta has plenty of no worthy role players many of which could help the right team maybe that team being the Lakers and with that in mind we’re going to talk about which them the Lakers should have interest in if Atlanta would blow their team up which I for one think they should and not simply for being a Laker fan either as they’re currently the definition of mediocre but before we get too far into it if you want to stay up to date with everything Lakers throughout the offseason then don’t forget to subscribe to the into it and like I referred to before pretty much everybody on their team could be up for grabs and if you take a look at the top five highest paid players on their team each of them have a contract of over 15 million per year meaning they cannot hope to enter a rebuild without offloading a few contracts first and whether they trade both Trey young and deante Murray or not I guarantee they’ll have to trade a role player too and I think we’ll Begin by talking about them and in my opinion by far the most likely role player on their team to be traded is Clint capella now being 30 years old and not to mention having being expiring contract it’s nearly a guarantee that he will be traded I mean they already have an arguably better player backing him up right now with anako OKO and simply put capella is not the player they once was I know a lot of people like to remember the athletic freak they was about back in Houston but he unfortunately is not the same guy anymore which I think should rule him out from being a singular trade Target for them meaning I would only make a trade for him if it meant getting a different player with him that I actually wanted but again he does happen to be under an expiring contract so it would not be the end of the world to make a trade for him I mean definitely not worth his salary of over 22 million but he could be a good backup fre lower price which might be a possibility if they kept him around the following year with that being said though the only valuable role player between the three of capella bonovich and Hunter would have to be bonovich in my opinion up until this point he is the only one between them that has actually been worth his current contract I mean maybe DeAndre Hunter could improve with him still being fairly young yet but he’s definitely not played up to a 22 million per year kind of player though I do think bonovich has been playing up to his salary unlike Hunter capella he is making under 20 million per year and while he is a little bit older than them despite not looking like it I think he’ll be worth the final 3 years of his contract in fact I can almost guarantee that will be for one it actually goes down year by year going from 18 million last year to 17 million this season to then 16 million for the final two and not to mention the final year of that contract being a team option meaning even if he would decline then whatever team that he plays for could simply wave him without any Financial penalty but again I do believe that he will be worth that contract between the salary cap going up Along bonovich being a really good role player he might have one of the best contracts in the entire league throughout that time frame I mean we here talking about one of the most dangerous three-point Shooters in the entire league he might not get talked about very much but he has quietly been an lead three-point shooter during the past 5 years now he has taken over seven three-point shots per game and that has made them a nearly a 39% clip and we are not only talking about a spot up shooter here no we are talking about a legitimate movement shooter and a guy that demands constant attention from the defense I mean he really never quits moving on the court and not only that but he has become a pretty good playmaker while doing it averaging over three assists per game to only 1.4 turnovers per game last season showing the ability to find open teammates when the defense over commits to him and in my opinion that is something Lakers have been missing they tried to get that with Malik Beasley though he unfortunately failed to live up to expectations but between bonovich being more reliable although being a little bit better on defense I think he would be a much better bet compared to Beasley and whether we will be talking about trading for him straight up or maybe combining him in a trade with Deonte Murray I for would be very interested again I think bonovich has a great contract would give them a skill set they do not currently have and that is very underrated as well likely not taking all that much to get if not bogdanovich though how about DeAndre Hunter and like I mentioned before while I do not believe he is worth his current contract I do like the fact that he is still fairly young only being 26 years old although I’m not sure that he would be worth trading for simply put he is not great at any one thing being an up and down three-point shooter an average that best defender and an underwhelming playmaker and then a good but not great scoring threat and for a guy making over 21 million per year for the next 3 years i r would like a little bit more and barring them being willing to trade in for pretty much nothing I’m not sure how you would win a trade by trading for DeAndre Hunter alone and with that in mind I think the only way to trade for him or Clint Capello would be with de jonte Murray Trey young is a much bigger contract so if they’ll be trading for him then they would likely be trading for him alone though there would be some room to work with and trade for to Jon Murray real quick with Trey young though I’m not a big fan of trading for him or at least not with he and LeBron on the same team I would love if they would be replacing LeBron but I don’t see how you make a team work with both them on a Max Level contract I mean two ball dominant players that don’t really like playing off the ball and then are not very impactful Defenders I’m not sure how you make it work not only that though but it would take a lot to get Trey young which would effectively be trading all of their depth and therefore leaving them with a very topheavy team not something you want in the modern NBA again the only way I would do it would be if LeBron left their team which I don’t find very likely and in my opinion dejonte Murray would be the much better option for what their team needs both from a fit standpoint and from what it would take to get him as well now don’t get me wrong it would take a lot to get Murray as well but not quite as much compared to Trey young I doubt that Atlanta had lowered their asking price on the trade deadline which reportedly included Austin Reeves along two first round draft picks so would likely have to be unprotected which would be lower than what they would ask for for Trey young and now Shante Murray making over 25 million compared to 18 million they would have to throw in another contract or two with Reeves maybe a guy like ruri haimura or potentially a sign and trade with D’Angelo Russell though I really doubt that Atlanta would want that at the end of the day here though I do think the Lakers should think about trading for Deonte Murray he has now proven to be able to play with a ball dominant player he can be a good Defender when he wants to be is a great playmaker and that has even become a solid three-point shooter though it will ultimately
