what’s going on y’all welcome back to Ideal off season this is the series where I get to put on the GM cap for a little bit and help a team navigate through their offseason we try to make the series as realistic as possible like we’re not just going to throw LeBron on some team and say there you go mission complete no we’re trying to look at each team in their unique situation and figure out what the best course of action is going forward like if you’re the San Antonio Spurs they’re not winning a championship next year most likely at least so how do we better position themselves going forward so that they can have a successful future right whereas like the Lakers they’re trying to win right now so we’re trying to help them win right now but hey just a quick reminder make sure you guys like subscribe and comment I’ve responded to every single comment on my YouTube channel up to this point and I intend to keep on doing so and I encourage you guys as well to try to leave like not I’m not going to say constructive comments but like thought through comments like the comments where it’s just like oh this guy sucks or whatever that doesn’t do anything like let’s let’s I’m trying to encourage a community where we’re actually talking some basketball and learning some basketball along the way but otherwise let’s get into the video all righty so we’re back here on the ideal offse spreadsheet for those of you that are new to the series this is this is a spreadsheet that I put together to kind of help illustrate this video and bring it to life a little bit uh those of you that have been watching it for a while know where I’m about to go with this if you want access to the spreadsheet because over like a 100 people have already done so up to this point all you have to do to get access to it is leave me a comment that says I would like the spreadsheet or however you want to phrase it and whatever something along those lines right that’s good to help my video get pushed out places cuz comments are good uh once that happens I’ll give you a link to my disc you shoot me a DM on my Discord and I’ll get you the sheet from there it’s super simple really easy I made really easy instructions for you guys to follow but anyway Atlant Hawks I’ve been putting this one off I have a little list of all the ideal off Seasons I have to do and I’m not going to lie I’ve been waiting on this one because here’s the thing right I’m just putting this out here right away and I’ll Tim stamp it if I need to for you for you little out there in the comments or whatever but like there’s a lot of ways we can go with this one there are a lot of ways and I’ve been thinking about it for like a day and a half now like what direction am I going to take this team right we all know Trey young is on the Block Deon is on the Block Clint capella is almost certainly getting traded in this video today and I’ve already actually thought about it a little bit but it’s like what what makes sense for this team here’s the here’s what I’ll tell you guys right now I think any of the possibilities for them make some sense I think that there’s justification for saying let’s try to make it work with these guys right like it might not be the best option in a lot of people’s minds and I would have to agree with that I don’t think that this Duo works very well so maybe you say m no not going to happen we don’t want to keep both of them I think if you trade Deon Murray it makes some sense I think if you trade Trey young it makes some sense right I think if you trade both of them there’s some logic to it but what are we going to do in this episode well that’s what you guys are going to have to stick around and find out with look at that a little tease anyway let’s let’s get into this so the Hawks the Hawks are in a bad situation right Hawks are not in a great situation they pay uh some players quite a bit of money over here uh and a team that should be decent to basically get bounced in the play in every year it’s a horrible situation to be in adjustments need to be made um honestly not the worst cap situation of all time we’re not even into the aprons yet which is pretty cool and I I’ve thought I like I said I’ve been having shower thoughts whenever I’m in the shower I think about this series don’t think about that too much but anyway um I’ve been thinking about like what moves can we make I’m running numbers in my head what makes logical sense and I think I’ve got an idea for where I want to go with this but solid Financial Outlook right now the draft picks the Atlanta Hawks were blessed by the lottery gods and they were given the number one overall pick which we I intend on using in this video I would like to get the number one pick not going to tell you guys who I’m thinking about yet but this is what I’m looking at right now the the pick situation is not looking great going forward um and yes there’s some pick swaps that are hidden in there that’s why I just noted this here at the end of the day we’re at the mercy of the Spurs we gave them all of our picks for Deonte Murray but the good news is that the Hawks have a lot of other assets in the forms of players right um there’s a lot of tradable contracts here for good basketball players that just don’t fit well together right now it’s kind of like the Chicago Bulls in a way where they’re like yeah we’ve got all these players that are pretty solid but like they just don’t fit well together and I’m going to be completely honest with you like I don’t have a great explanation for why this team doesn’t work a little bit better like we’ve I’ve watched a lot of film and for those of you that don’t know I’m working for an NBA team this offseason I’m not going to tell you guys which one but I’m I am doing a lot of offseason work for them in terms of like roster building and like analytics development and stuff like that like I’m helping out with the draft a ton um we’ve been watching a ton of film and like I I don’t have a great answer for you right now as to why this team doesn’t work it just doesn’t right now if I watch um another like 30 hours or something I could probably give you a better answer or something like that but for now this is this is what I got but let’s let’s go through the current roster and everything we got Trey young we got Deonte Murray both making pretty good amount of money tre’s making a lot of money Deonte Murray’s on a pretty friendly contract considering his ability but regardless these two just haven’t worked well together apparently they’re like best friends off the court I confirmed that with both players and the media I guess in that case so that’s awesome like but they just don’t seem to work well together uh Clint capella seems like an odd man out with the first overall pick and the fact that there’s like AA kongu on the team too there’s one year left him are you really going to resign him probably not he seems like an odd man out DeAndre Hunter um when DeAndre Hunter was coming into the NBA uh what was he like the fourth overall pick or something like that at the time he was looked at as a guy where you’re like yeah you’re going to get like 14 points a game out of him probably like right away he’s going to play solid defense maybe not his own shot create or anything but he’s just going to be really solid in the NBA and that’s where he’s going to stay and that’s exactly what’s happened like he’s a he’s an effective basketball player for what he is um it’s just not anything like all that crazy at the end of the day so honestly like you got exactly what you wanted out of him uh bogdon bogdanovich uh who’s currently a backup in the rotation that I have set right now solid score not a horrible Defender at the end of the day some people like to say he’s a horrible Defender he’s not a horrible Defender by any means but might be another odd man out we really just don’t need to pay $17 million for a guy to come off our bench like we just don’t Ana kongu one of the better backup centers out there quality basketball player at the end of the day honestly pretty friendly contract in my opinion I don’t have a problem with it at all Jaylen Johnson somebody I have a lot of real life experience with actually I love Jaylen Johnson really glad that he started to develop and become this guy Jaylen Johnson’s a guy we want around I love his ability to step out and hit just a little bit right now he can put the ball on the floor he can attack he can run in transition with everybody really nice young guy that we want to to develop and because he has a team option I’m just going to accept it right now Kobe buffkin a guy that just kind of had an underwhelming rookie year for a guy that was picked where he was what’s weird is I see so many people do I not have Kobe buffkin on here oh no I have him at the two that’s right that’s where he’s supposed to be um Kobe buffkin there’s a lot of like Defenders of him out there and like I he just he didn’t play much enough to where I can have like an opinion on him and that alone tells me a lot of what I should know about Kobe buffkin for now I don’t have an intention of moving him or anything like I I who am I to judge someone after their rookie season man that is crazy like you you need to give these guys more time to develop and everything I just I don’t know I think it’s weird the amount of love that he gets I’m like how do you not feel just more so indifferent because you haven’t seen much of him but whatever um AJ Griffin a guy that’s like had some moments for the Hawks but not that many at the end of the day he only makes $3 million going to be bringing him back he could be a nice reserve for us Bruno Fernando quietly plays very solid basketball for this team um is on a very Team friendly deal there’s not a lot of bigs out there right now so I’m totally fine with having Fernando on the the team and then Garrison Matthews I love Garrison Matthews I just I really like him I know he’s just a three-point shooter for the most part I just like his game I just like guys that can do stuff like that so at the very least we’re going to be accepting it if not moving him somewhere else well that’s a quick rundown of kind of where we’re at roster wise with this team we’ve got four roster spots left we’ve kind of got this hodge podge team that doesn’t make a ton of sense and a lot of long-term contracts actually in itself so that’s kind of something that we’re trying to remove ourselves from if nothing else because here’s the thing right like I want to reconstruct this team more than tear it down that’s kind of my thought right now I’m giving you guys a little bit of insight of where I’m going with this right now Trey young is a player that I’m not convinced necessarily wins you basketball games but how fair of an attempt has he really had I don’t know like we haven’t really seen him around like other great talent or anything like that and I’m not saying we’re able to go get like an elite elite Star right now there’s just not many of those guys available right now that would or even any that would make sense next to Trey young but have we really given him like the best shot possible well I I don’t necessarily know so I think what I want to do is I want to keep Trey young in this but obviously if things don’t work out we don’t want to kill ourselves financially going forward either because we don’t need to be paying all this money to a team that’s just not going to be good right and so I want to try to give us roster flexibility sooner like I want to try and relieve us of some of these contracts I want to retool this team more than anything else and also not kill any sort of like future plans with like Jaylen Johnson and whoever we pick with the number one pick like let’s try and retool things first a little bit before we do anything else plus whoever we take with the number one pick if guys like Trey young and Jaylen Johnson are on the team already and I’m kind of hinting at that I’m going to try to trade dejonte Murray like that takes a lot of pressure off whoever we take with the number one pick right so what I want to do is I want to start figuring out a trade and what better place to do a trade than fanso you guys know fanso at this point it’s a really cool website that helps us add a real sense of just like realism to the series right um it helps us keep track of a lot of numbers and everything okay so we are the Atlanta Hawks and I’ve been thinking about this trade and I think it’s pretty inevitable that the Atlanta Hawks are going to make some sort of deal with the New Orleans Pelicans you guys know where I’m going with this right um it just seems like one of the guards needs to be on the Pelicans and Brandon Ingram might be on his way to Atlanta now if I was running the Pelicans I don’t necessarily think that’s like my best move NE necessarily but I think a change of scenery for some of these guys wouldn’t be the worst thing either and I think it’s in the realm of realism so I want to explore a move like this and now do I think that these two teams could just pull something off on their own yeah I actually do think that they could do that but I want to mess around a little bit more and see if I can’t make this a little bit crazier so there’s a third team that I can think of that might want to make a move and that’s the Dallas Mavericks now both of these teams are in the second tax apron and for those of you that don’t know when you’re in the second tax apron it prohibits you from like packaging players together to go get another player there’s also certain like monetary restrictions and anything like you basically have to match the salaries exactly in order to even make a deal the the NBA puts teams in these aprons to try and keep star players where they’re at they don’t want Star players getting traded anymore so the the C these aprons are something we’re studying a lot like with the NBA teams right now too A lot of people are just still learning this stuff and the rules are changing every single year right now so there’s just there’s a lot to learn but here’s the base behind the trade right this is kind of what I’m thinking right here a guy like dejonte Murray he’s going to be going to the Pelicans that’s who they’re interested in we are trying to take Brandon Ingram back I want to pair Trey young and Brandon Ingram see what we can get going with these two guys now you might be saying what are the Dallas Mavericks doing here well I’m going to explain that in just a little bit because I told you guys I’m trying to get us off of some of these longer term contracts as well and one of those is DeAndre Hunter right DeAndre Hunter is a very nice basketball player at the end of the day I have no problem with him whatsoever I just don’t think we need to be paying 21 million to him for the next 3 years especially if we’re taking back a Brandon Ingram in this trade it seems a little bit redundant to me I don’t think they play next to each other necessarily like we’ve got Jaylen Johnson so I don’t think we need him so I want to reroute him to Dallas right Dallas could use a guy like him they could use a true three on this team plays good defense can shoot the ball well enough like makes sense he seems like a missing piece to this Dallas Mavericks team and so now that we’ve got these key pieces in place we kind of have to supplement the rest of this right because who else is getting moved I happen to think that Clint capella can also get moved in this trade he can get moved to the Pelicans this is a team that is looking for a center right now itd make a lot of sense for them to take on Clint capella for a year so they can try to be competitive with this team I think that makes a lot of sense that relieves us of the cap and everything the dejonte and Brandon Ingram move I I view those two as kind of equivalents so I feel like we can take back some picks in this somehow but I want to see what Dallas is doing with this first I imagine Tim Hardaway Jr is going to have to be rooted back to us they’re they’re probably not interested in keeping Tim Hardway Jr at this point here’s the nice thing about it 16 million dollar like yeah that like that might be a lot like Tim arway Jr honestly had like a fine season overall it’s just in the playoffs like not much really materialized out of it and I say fine like I know he wasn’t phenomenal he was fine right um and I’ll say this as well we would give Brandon Ingram an extension like none of this happens if we don’t have some sort of extension in place for him we take Tim Hardway Jr back because it’s a one-year contract right and that helps us relieve or relieve ourselves of cap uh commitments a little bit earlier than the three years we owed to DeAndre Hunter right so the Mavericks are already happy with this trade um because they are taking on DeAndre Hunter right but they they wouldn’t even be able to execute this trade I don’t think right yeah no because they’re um in an apron they can only take back that much money they would need to cut another $3 million and I think there’s a good way to do this honestly cuz they’re getting the better and younger player back I want a younger player from them can I take on Oliver Maxon Prosper can I take him back as a young guy for us to try to develop he was a first round pick this last year decent athlete smart basketball player uh hopefully a good Defender maybe a three and D guy at some point we take back a young asset right at the end of the day because we’re giving them a better player in DeAndre Hunter we’re taking on a contract that they don’t need how does this look right now that’s a success okay but this is this is by no means the rest of the move so I believe the Mavericks couldn’t actually even do this because they would be trading two players in exchange for one right so we’ve got to move someone else back to them in some way or fashion and I actually think that Garrison Matthews would make a lot of sense to do that Garrison Matthews is a guy that could use he’s a floor spacer that doesn’t ever need the basketball at all right uh he could play off Luc and Kyrie and be a floor spacer if needed how does this trade work that’s a success okay perfect and here’s the thing right like they could always just like cut him too if they don’t want him I would assume they would want him honestly but I think that I think this is a good framework for the players involved in this now what about the picks cuz here’s the thing right we get back Brandon Ingram we get him on an extension we’re also giving up Clint capella though who’s a very valuable player they’re getting two starters out of us right like the Mavericks are getting a starter and giving up um while they’re giving up a good young player and everything a guy that wasn’t in the rotation from for them and a guy that couldn’t play for them at all in the playoffs so I feel like we should be able to take back a first round pick as well from the New Orleans Pelicans I don’t know if it’s their pick this year but maybe their pick next year I don’t know I I have to think about what’s fair for a second what do the Dallas Mavericks have they have the 60th pick not all that interested in that I feel like we should get a second round pick back from them so give us this like 2028 uh Miami uh second round pick send that our way at the very least and then what are we taking back for this we’re getting back two that we’re giving them two starters like is the 21st pick like realistic in this because let’s be honest like these draft picks this year aren’t that valuable at the end of the day um it’s just not and if we’re giving them a starting center and a starting point guard they’ve still got CJ McCollum who they could try to flip into something else at some point this off season I know they’d probably like this pick to fill out the back end of their roster so maybe maybe we take a future pick from them cuz here’s the thing right we are still trying to win basketball games right now so let me look a little bit more into the future and say like hey if everything goes wrong we’ve got some future picks at the end of the day so give us your I want this do I want the 2027 Milwaukee pick that might be the way to go with this yeah no give me this 2027 Milwaukee Bucks first round pick I’ll take that one back again let’s make sure this trade works and everything works for us and look at this we’re actually saving money too right we relieved ourselves with some of these players we got some assets back let’s go take a look and see what the team looks like now so we now have a bucks 27 first round pick and then we also have a Miami Heat uh second round pick that we just acquired so I want to add that here so we got the heat we’ve got a 28 second so we’ve acquired some draft assets right that’s cool now who did we all lose you are now Brandon Ingram very very exciting Clint capella you are now Tim Hardaway Jr DeAndre Hunter you are now Oliver Maxin Prosper so let’s move Brandon Ingram here uh we don’t have a starting center here right now so we can put Ana kongu here I’ll move Brandon Fern or Brandon Bruno Fernand up here I show this to you guys to kind of talk to demonstrate kind of what I’m seeing and everything let’s just put bog done here for now we’ll throw Tim here and then I imagine Oliver maxon’s Prosper is a guy that we can start to develop and play behind Jaylen Johnson okay so what have we done we’ve given oursel a little bit more uh cap flexibility which is awesome to work with right now we went and got another young player we got some draft assets Brandon Ingram’s on the team now who hopefully fits better next to Trey young but I don’t want to be done with my deals just yet but what I think I will do is I think I’m going to go to the draft first and just make sure that I everything that I want to happens there and then I think we’re going to make a deal afterwards all right y’all so we’re back on the fanso Mock Draft simulator the reason that we use this is because it adds a little bit of sense of realism to things where like it’ll simulate picks based on whatever sliders you want to do I think it’s a really cool system at the end of the day um otherwise it’d just be me being like I think this guy will be available with this pick so we’re I’m just going to say that we get him no that’s not the best way to do it but in this case we have the first overall pick and we can pick whoever we want right and let’s be honest it’s between like three guys right it’s behind kingan SAR and reash right now I’ve seen plenty of things being like hey trade down get Donovan kingan if that happens in real life I am all for it in this video we’re not doing that right uh so I’m taking clinging off the list it’s SAR or reash and based off the fact that I just traded Clint capella I think it gives it away I really like Alex SAR as a player I’m not playing him at the power forward I think his size and frame is really impressive you guys should go watch my breakdown video on him if you haven’t already uh his defensive instincts are phenomenal he’s able to switch onto guards at times he can rotate all the way down from the perimeter and still defend the rim do I think he’s going to be a superstar in this league no not necessarily if he is then great but I think he’s instantly going to make your defense a ton better I think he since he’s not able to create his own shot him playing with Trey young is probably going to be a really good thing I think he can develop into a guy that can catch and attack a little bit but and maybe step out and hit a three eventually but I just I love the idea of getting him I also want to note as well I view SAR and reace as like one a and one b and the only reason I really give an edge to SAR is because it’s harder to find like like seven foot dudes at the end of the day and so I’m going to take him more so based off that I think Ras is a phenomenal player I really like clinging as well but in this case we’re going to take alexar all right so we’re going to take alexar throw him down here the first overall pick would make about this much money for Four Seasons we’re going to move Fernando down we’re going to move aong wo down and we’re going to move our boy alex SAR into the first five look at that beautiful picture wonderful wonderful wonderful and that was that was the only pick that we had in this one y’all so that’s totally fine the draft went exactly as expected this team can still make some adjustments though right I still think that there’s guys that we could move on from to help kind of relieve our situation a little bit more and that guy is bdan bogdanovich I think he’s a fine basketball player but I don’t want to be tied up to his money for too much longer so I want to try and involve another team to see if I one can’t get some more assets and two just see if I can’t help like I said help out our cap situation a little bit so we’re back here on the trade manager and the reason that we’re back here is because there’s no way to like save things otherwise in our current situation so we’re just going to manage this I want to add a fourth team to this and I haven’t thought this part through completely like I’d maybe thought through this part a little bit I kind of want to involve the Orlando Magic because they’d be in theory interested in a bogdanovich a guy that can uh shoot a little bit for them that’s the biggest thing for them right they’re looking for Shooters like guys like Luke Canard have been like really interesting to them uh I would think they’d be interested in like a bogdanovich as well and they’re currently like they they’re not in like a bad cap situation at all so they can take him on he’d be a solid upgrade for them maybe uh Suggs is their one for this next year year I don’t know but I want to explore it at the very least so we’d be moving bogdanovich over to the magic right now just out of curiosity right that move Works in itself because they have the space for it but what are we getting back from the magic exactly the reason I did this after the draft is because I didn’t want people thinking I was going to go get like a draft pick from them in this one what I want to do is take on this Denver first round pick for next year right I think that would be a really interesting thing I know some of you are going to say like yeah you can’t trade these protection ones you can it’s incred complicated I couldn’t even explain it very well to you I’ve been in enough meetings and I’ve seen it I I think it even happened like two years ago with the heat or something like that you can move these picks it’s just kind of complicated how you like structure them legally and everything so what I want is I want this Denver 2025 first round pick cu the 2025 class is very very valuable and we we do have one pick for it already but I’d like to acquire some more because here’s the thing right if this team completely flops this year right like if this team is not good we’ve we’ve got some other problems then right and we have to start thinking a little more future oriented or at the very least if we have two first round picks in next year’s draft and maybe a different star becomes available I want to be able to make a play at that guy right so having two first round picks I think is going to be an interesting thing for us so do I think that bogdanovich is worth just a first round pick in general not necessarily so I’m going to move that to the Hawks I feel like we have to supplement them with probably something else maybe like some second round picks or something like this 2025 Minnesota second round pick is interesting right cuz here’s the thing they’re taking on salary for us at the end of the day this was another part of the move that I forgot to include actually now that I’m thinking about it where is he where is that dude where is he I know he’s on here somewhere there he is Joe Engles um in this scenario because there’s a team option they would be uh they would be probably eliminating him at the end of the day there’s not really a need for it anymore so just know that that would probably be taking place here I think what I want to do though is make sure I give them like a second round pick back as well for 2025 so we’ll move that back to the magic here and I think that that’s honestly not the worst thing in the world cuz here’s the thing this Denver 2025 pick is probably not going to be a great first round pick by any way but it’s still a first round pick but you are getting a guy in bogdanovich that’s getting you 17 points a game like this is a good basketball player he’s a good three-point shooter all said and done so I feel like it’s got to be valuable to them so yeah I think I want to execute on this trade I think this is what I want to say that we did moved on from bonovich in this case we took back another first round pick and cleared ourselves of a little bit more like roster hell now I know that that might not be like a winning move necessarily but I kind of have to look at this from two fronts right like at the end of the day we’re going to still have Trey and Brandon Ingram under contract in theory in this video for a decent amount of time right like that’s the hope at the very least so let’s remove him we’re going to put Tim Hardaway Jr there for just a second perfect we can move these these guys up oh no we moved Garrison Matthews didn’t we I forgot to take Garrison Matthews off of here so we removed Garrison Matthews Kobe buffkin now has an opportunity to play like we’re we’re we’re trying to give this team a shot to compete more so we want to see how like this core here really operates and then kind of move from there right we want to have flexibility to make adjustments if possible because we are we would be locking ourselves into this core of Ingram and Trey young for a minute so I want to make sure that we have like some cap space to work with all right so now we find ourselves in a really interesting situation for the rest of this video right we’ve got a team that in theory is a competitive starting five we’ll see at the very least like I I still think Tim Hardway Jor is a fine player like if if we just look at Tim Hardaway Jr’s numbers really quick I want to show just kind of what I’m talking about with this like you’re still getting 14 points a game you’re still getting a solid enough three-point shooter even if it wasn’t his most effective season of all time he’s always been a very consistent scorer in the NBA so I just I I like to think that we can kind of still roll with him he’s played for the Hawks before and he’s not going to have to do much creation on this team between these two guys so I I don’t hate putting him at the shooting guard at least for the time being but we’ve actually got $3 million in cap space to go work with we don’t need to do anything at the center and by the way I’ll address if we draft SAR there’s always a chance that a Kong wo gets moved at some point maybe he’s like the hell y’all I was hoping to play at some point and that’s something to consider I just like having him on the team for now so I I feel good about that but what do we want to use this like last 3 million on cuz now we want to go into free agency and be like hey is there a guy out there that’s kind of worth pursuing and by the way we’ll talk about like sadik Bay in a second just be patient okay like who can we go out here and get for like $3 million that can help this team win right away I don’t know if there’s an exact name that I can find that’s going to fit like that $3 million roll we could say that like uh we could try to execute a sign in trade or something like that with somebody else but I think we’ve done enough trades and everything I don’t think we really need to do that at this point so I think what I’m going to do is let’s let’s address home first right and that’s with sadique Bay obviously sadique Bay was having kind of a rough season he had a really promising start to his career I don’t actually know why Detroit traded him it didn’t make a ton of sense to me but now he’s a restricted free agent right and so we could just extend him a qualifying offer on a onee or something he gets a chance to prove himself and then get a bigger contract after that and I think that that’s probably the way that we want to go with that so just from looking it up right now it looks like 8.5 million is his qualifying offer so I I think that that’s what we’re going to do for the boy uh sadik bay here we’re going to give him a 1 two one two three boom we’re going to give him a one-ear we’re going to assume that he’s just going to accept his qualifying offer we at least want to offer it out there in case anyone tries to steal him I don’t think anybody’s necessarily going to after he had uh he didn’t have like a Bad season it just wasn’t the most efficient one ever and his defense is still somewhat of a question but I think he’s an interesting enough Prospect to where we want to keep looking at him so I want to bring him back at the very least we’ve got Prosper to throw in if we absolutely need to but I want I want to give sadique Bay a chance and at the very least and it’s just money tied up for one season right cuz here’s the thing after this year we free up this we’re probably going to have some money there here we free up a decent amount of cap space again already so I feel I feel good about that but for roster spots left got some minimum contract guys that I probably want to go out there and get and I bet you there’s a couple minimum contract guys that would like to have a decent role on a team next year because they’re trying to get themselves back into a decent sized contract and those are the guys that I want to Target so the first thing I want to address is the backup point guard spot and the guy I’m looking at in particular here is Monte Morris who was play who was plagued with injuries for most of this season then he came back he wasn’t too effective for the Timberwolves was a really solid basketball player for most of his career like all said and done I’d like to bring Monte Morrison on a backup uh contract spot and tell him like Hey you’re going to get a lot of rotation minutes with us right like there’s not two point guards here anymore it’s just Trey young you’re going to get to be the backup point guard hopefully you’re a solid Defender and distributor get it to these other guys that like to shoot the basketball you can go back to really playing your game again so let’s go get Monte Morris so Monte Morris would be making this much on a minimum contract there we go Monte Morris slides in here to be our backup point guard cool I’d like to address the wings now SLG guards so we can go to like let’s go to Just forwards right now who would be out there that would be interested in someone like that I think a Gordon Hayward could be kind of interesting I don’t know if he necessarily wants to to do that but I find him to be interesting I think Doug mcdermit is interesting because you know you’re just going to get a good three-point shooter every single season out of him at the very least and let’s let’s be clear I want to give AJ Griffin a shot to play too like I I want to make sure he gets some minutes and we try to develop him as well like there’s there’s enough of experience in the starting five where you feel good about trying to mix in some of these younger guys off the bench but we want to make sure we get the right amount of experience on the other parts of the team as well so who who would that really be that we’d want to bring in I’m looking at a guy like cheddy Osman right now is I think is an interesting player I know his points are going down at this point in this career but he’s still such a good three-point shooter and I want to make sure that there’s enough shooting around guys like Trey and Ingram and guys like that so I think that I want to go get cheddy Osman with this next kind of Reserve spot so we’re going to get cheddy Osman he would actually get the exact same amount of money as Monte Morris we’ll slap him here in the depth chart for the time being so I like having Osman as an option he’s at least played a lot of NBA minutes as of late let’s go back to guards now who do we want to add via the guard that can possibly be a backup for us like is there a guy out there that would come through on a minimum contract that would maybe want to play for us like that’s not going to be a Luke Canard because even if he probably doesn’t get the team option accepted somebody’s going to pick him up like I don’t think Gary Harris is getting anything more than a minimum this year I just I truly don’t believe that I’d like to go get an Alec Burks or something like that but I think he’ll get more than a minimum oh you know who I like I like Lonnie Walker a lot I I actually really like Lonnie Walker’s game like a ton I just don’t think he’s always given like the best chance to succeed everywhere he goes and here’s what we could sell him on right minimum contract right that’s probably the most he’s going to get anyway we’re going to be like hey you can compete for a rotation spot here and if Tim Hardway Jr absolutely starts to suck you might even find a way into the starting lineup right at some point so I think we can sell him on that so let’s go get Lonnie Walker so here’s Lonnie Walker he would actually get a little bit less than these guys so there we go for that I’m honestly just going to like I’m going to move buffkin here for and you can argue with me on that in the comments if you want to there’s Lonnie Walker there let’s go get one more veteran point guard to really just round out the rest of this roster right like let’s go back to point guards who’s going to be available for this team and who’s going to be interesting like we’re not going to get like a Russell Westbrook or a pat Bev most likely they’re probably trying to compete for championships at this point so who could we get it could always be Chris Dunn I just love adding Chris Dunn to teams I think he’s really interesting like d Wright maybe he goes back to Miami cuz he wasn’t bad in Miami I don’t want to add like a Jordan M wlin or an Aaron holiday we have enough like small point guards on the team just having Trey Young on there I’d like somebody with like a little more meat on him like Reggie Jackson’s going to be back uh there’s not like a ton of great options here is there Dennis Smith Jr is at least a decent size at 62 205 and he’s got a little more athleticism that helps him a bit more on the defensive end I know he hasn’t had like the mo best productive seasons in a while like yeah he still just can’t figure out that three-point shot but I don’t hate the idea at the end of the day if anything he’s a different look look than the other point guards that we have on the roster up to this point and he’s played enough NBA minutes so and this team might be a little more conducive to him there’s a couple more guys that can like run on this team with him if he was ever playing with them but is there really nobody else that we can go get I don’t want to put like a lack of confidence in it’s just not like a love move at the end of the day like a Spencer din witty like is he going to want to play for a team like this probably not he’s probably trying to win a championship like Patty Mills he was already on the team I actually don’t even think we could sign him if we want wanted to so no let’s just let’s just go with Dennis Smith Jr it’s the last roster spot at the end of the day not the biggest deal so Dennis Smith here he would be making this much money the same as the other guys one-year contract there we go beautiful beautiful beautiful you’re 2024 2025 Atlanta Hawks everybody look at that let’s talk about what exactly we accomplished in this right we made a decision if nothing else being like nope deon’s the odd man out we’re going to go let him be a point guard again in a team with guys like Zion and them moved CL capella there as well and a nice three team deal that gave us a lot of um roster flexibility going forward at least like kind of helped relieve our cap situation a little bit but we remain competitive in the sense that we give ourselves a different look now Trey young is with Brandon Ingram he’s presumably getting an extension Jaylen Johnson continues to get better we have a new starting center with the number one pick Alex SAR he’s got a lot of guys that can feed him the basketball Brandon Ingram finally gets to play with a run jump and dunk Center which I actually think would be really good for his development um so I really like the the idea behind that I think you could have a good offense with that I think Tim Hardway Jr is still a solid player so this team in theory should hopefully still be competitive now I’m not saying this team’s going on a deep playoff run or anything but at the very least we get to try out Trey young and Brandon Ingram to see if this is going to work at all and we can kind of get a test year with it while still getting to getting to develop our young guys we acquired some more draft picks which is nice we’re now back in the 207 2027 class which is good we now have two well possibly two uh first picks next season which is good cuz after we know what’s going on with these two we’re going to be able to make some moves again right we’re going to have some more tradable contracts some more interesting players maybe it’s a Kongo maybe it’s Prosper like right guys like that um so I I just think we’ve given ourselves the ability to try something new and remain flexible going forward right like and I think that that’s what this team needs to do because if they just go all in again like they did with Deonte you’re just you’re just completely screwing yourself going forward so I like this a lot but you guys let me know what
