6 Moves Knicks MUST Make To Beat The Boston Celtics Next Season

with the Boston Celtics taking a 3oh lead in the NBA Finals over the Dallas Mavericks it looks like they are going to be NBA champion so in today’s video I’m going to list six moves I think the Knicks need to make if they want to take down the Celtics in the Eastern Conference next year but I want to open up the comment section to all of the real ones watching this is your chance to let me know what is one move the New York Knicks must make this off season sound off down below [Music] you’re watching Nicks Now by chat sports I am your host Marshall Green Let’s get into it I truly do believe that a fully healthy New York Knicks team that would have featured Julius Randall and Mitchell Robinson and OG and an Obi and Buon bogdanovich would have had the best team of any team in the NBA to beat the Boston Celtics this year but I’m not 100% confident say they would have done that I think they would have given the Celtics a run for their money but it still probably would have came down to game six or game seven and Anything could happen and as we know at this point if the New York Knicks are just going to run it back by bringing Isaiah hartenstein OG and an Obi buan bogdanovich prua and Alec Burks back they are most likely going to be a second apron team which will make the moves that they want to make extremely difficult to happen so I’m going to list out a six-step plan that I have crafted Ed for the Knicks to be the winners of the Eastern Conference next year and step one is Bring Back really good players you got to find a way to resign OG an anobi and you have to bring back Isaiah hartenstein I have no doubt in the world that an anobi is going to put pen to paper to return to the New York Knicks Leon Rose worldwide Weston Tom Tibido would not have signed off on an anob trade if they did not have at least a little bit of an inside scoop on if anobi wanted to turn considering Anon obi’s agent is Sam Rose who is the son of Leon Rose Isaiah hartstein on the other hand I am confident he’ll come back for the Knicks but I do believe there is a shot that he could leave maybe to a team like the Oklahoma City Thunder they could offer him a two-year $50 million deal or any team out there that has cap space and wants to sign a center they’ll be looking at hartenstein but if I had to predict it I would say that both of these guys are back and if the Knicks really want to have a shot at winning the East next year they got to make it happened step number two I think the Knicks have to wave bu on bogdanovich kind of a tricky situation here with Buon as you look at the details of his contract he could potentially earn $19 million this year and be on the New York Knicks but he only has 2 million of that 19 being guaranteed and the Knicks by June 29th have to make a decision it’s pretty much a a team option do they want to pick up this $19 million or do they want want to wave him and have a $2 million Dead hat dead cat pit on the roster I would elect to do that for a couple of different reasons and I want to show this photo from Nick’s film school shout out to Jonathan Macker and Jeremy Cohen they just did a podcast called CAP or no cap and they did a really good job of illustrating and making points about what the Knicks need to do this offseason when it comes to money you could check out the Knicks film school and I will link that video in the comment section but as you see on the picture right here if you bring back anobi for the deal that we showed you you bring back hartenstein you add in the two first round picks that you have and you also add the $2 million of the Dead cap hit you will have by waving bogey you are still 12 million plus dollars above the luxury tax you’re $19 million above the first apron and you’re $30 million above the second apron which means you would be able to use the full midlevel exception if you wave bu on bogdanovich and that’s ultimately what it comes down to do you want to have bogy on your team or do you want to have somebody in for the agency that would sign that fouryear $55 million or this new Wrinkle in the CBA if you do not spend your mid-level exception it essentially rolls over into the NBA season and it works as a trade exception so either use it now to go sign somebody or keep it so you can make a trade for somebody new rule the non- taxpayer mid-level exception can be be used to absorb salaries if not used to sign a player this is the first year that has ever happened it essentially works as a trade exception so if you don’t spend that non- taxpayer mid-level exception I could essentially trade that for a player that makes around 12.9 million and that could be a useful tool and Resource as you go about building this roster you’ll have to decide do you want to sign somebody or trade somebody and then if you are a taxpaying team if you do um pick up that player option or team option excuse me for B bogdanovich you would have $5.2 million to spend but I want to show you guys some non- taxpayer mid-level exception targets that I think the New York Knicks should Target number one we did a video on him earlier today and that’s Kelly UB I think UB is a guy that could make a lot of sense for the New York Knicks he feels a void that they really have when you talk about what the Knicks need to add to this roster it’s somebody that can come off the bench play some defense and give you some juice and athleticism off the break and with him signing with CAA this off season I think that there’s a pretty good shot that the Knicks could have an inside track on signing him an NBA free agency UB was the first level of Defense um that the Philadelphia 76ers threw at Jaylen Brunson so he’s a Defender and he’s someone that that can just score the basketball easily for you the next player I want to take a look at is Royce O’Neal of the Phoenix Suns he’s one of the better three in D players in the NBA over the last four seasons he shot nearly 40% from downtown he can also defend multiple positions at 6’6 he can guard ones twos threes and he can even play a little bit of small ball four much better shooter than UB not nearly as athletic but I would say just as good if not a little bit better on the defensive end if you do want to add a bench big because maybe you’re going to trade Mitchell Robinson gavon Looney is someone that I would look for all grit all grind all the time he fits right in to the New York Knicks DNA he’s a two-time NBA champion one of the best rebounders in the NBA I think Looney could be a good backup for hartenstein or a hartenstein replacement if you have to shuffle around your big man tus Jones one of the best point guards off the bench in the NBA all time one of the best point guards when it comes to assist to turnover ratio the New York Knicks have to find a way to keep their offense afloat when Jaylen Brunson sits down following the trade for an and Obi the Knicks were 20 points worse per 100 possessions when Brunson was on the bench compared to on the floor tus Jones could be that for general for you to run that second unit I know sadique bay is coming off a torn ACL and he may not be ready to rock and roll until December or January but I think that he also fits the bill of what the Knicks could be looking for Off the Bench long lengthy Wing can defend multiple positions has shown the ability to be a knockdown shooter and yeah he went to Villanova another player I would keep my eyes on if I am the New York Knicks is Bruce Brown we know that the Knicks were very interested in trading for Brown at the NBA trade deadline he has a $20 million team option could be a free agent unless uh Toronto picks up that option if he is a free agent IX would be interested another player I think could make some sense is niji Marshall the well-rounded small forward uh really just forward overall for the New Orleans Pelicans had one of his better years in the NBA tough rugged Defender can score a little bit as well I think he’d be a nice player to come off the bench for the New York Knicks um yeah so one of those seven guys we talked about as a mid-level exception obviously the first Five Guys pictured are a higher priority for me if I was a general manager but we’ve talked about the free agents you could sign for the mid level but it comes down do you want bogy on the team I’ll ask you should the Knicks wave bogy type y for yes Type n for no probably should have started this video talking about the NBA draft because that does come first in the calendar but it’s just the way that it turned out and as we know the New York Knicks they have three picks in the draft I would at minimum keep one first round pick which means I would trade one of them as well we’ll talk about a trade coming up in a little bit but the Knicks own the 24th 25th and 38th pick in the NBA draft I would find a way to keep the 24th or 25th pick and then package that other one with all the draft Capital at the New York Knicks have to go get somebody five prospects I’m looking at at pick 24 the Knicks could Target Tyler KCK I just think he fits the bill exactly of what you want in a point guard Off the Bench especially one to take the spot of Brunson to control the pace of play get the ball to his scores in a good spot and just a natural when it comes to having the ball in his hands and setting the T Ryan Dunn maybe the best perimeter defender in this draft class over a 7ot wingspan um he’s a part of the CAA Mafia as well so salute to him uh I think that there’s a good chance n New York Knicks could draft him K where um one of the more intriguing prospects in this class A seven-footer who is a little bit raw but he’s shown the ability to block shots and he’s someone that can stretch the floor as well and adding a seven-footer that could stretch the floor could make a lot of sense for the Knicks his ceiling to me is Miles Turner and I wouldn’t mind having a Miles Turner on this team at all Tristan D Silva is another player that I am just enamored with in this draft class A lot of people like to say well he’s not good at any one thing yeah but he’s pretty damn solid at just about everything at 6’7 he could score it he could assist it and he could also defend it he’s someone I’m interested and then yees Mei is someone I’m also really interested in he’s Mitchell Robinson 2.0 to me maybe a little bit even more springy and if you’re able to add one of those five players while resigning OG and hartenstein waving bokei signing an mle player you’re in a really good spot but what would put you in a spot to compete for the NBA Finals year in and year out is finding a way to trade for Mikel Bridges the number one move I want the Knicks to make this year is find a way to add Mel Bridges to this basketball team and you got a lot of money in your pocket to spend you have almost tradeable first round picks and scared money it don’t make money and if the New York Knicks want to do it they absolutely can I think a trade something like this could at least Intrigue the Nets is it going to be tough to trade for them yeah do the Nets want to make a trade for the Knicks probably not but are they going to say no to Mitchell Robinson miles McBride and not one not two not three not four but five first round picks I would make three of them unprotected at some point you are going to have to over pay that’s just the way the business works in the NBA and in life when I buy something I want and I don’t ever look back and say man I’m so glad I bought that but if I could have just saved another x amount of do no if you like it you buy it and you’re okay with paying the price and you got to pay to play and the New York Knicks they’ve got the chips to make it happen we’re going to talk about that one first round pick we’ve made so that means you have seven tradable first round picks which means you have 10 first rounders in the next seven years if you trade five of them you still got five first round picks to make in the next seven years the New York Knicks can afford to overpay when it comes to draft Capital so my question to you is would you make this trade Mitchell Robinson miles McBride and five first round picks would it suck to see mitchko absolutely he is what the New York Knicks are made of right now and Miles McBride is one of the best success success stories in the NBA but if I’m a team trading for the Knicks the first person I’m asking for is Duce McBride because he’s cheap and he’s young and he’s becoming a better player every single time he touches the hardwood I’d make the deal would you type M for make or P for pass so now you look at the Knick’s potential roster Jaylen Brunson Mel Bridges ogan and Obi Julius Randall Isaiah hartenstein with Dante D venzo and Josh Hart coming off the bench that mid-level free we talked about you signed your rookie first round pick in Jericho Sims you have 10 players on your roster who can all somewhat contribute this next year but I do still think there is another move that the New York Knicks need to make and that would be signing a veteran to the biannual exception that comes out to a two-year $9.5 million deal and I think the niick should go out and sign a veteran that has been there and done that and five players I’m looking at are Kyle Lowry he’s a Villanova product the Knicks were interested in signing him when he was bought out by the Charlotte Hornets this pass trade deadline I would love to have Lowry come and run my bench off the second unit if we don’t draft Tyler KCK or we don’t sign tus Jones Chris Paul same boat I know you guys don’t love Chris Paul but I would be thrilled to see CP3 coming off the bench for the New York Knicks and running that second unit if you signed a wing and you’re trying to replace Mitchell Robinson in a trade Andre Drummond as a big man comes to mind and you want another Wing to come off the bench Gordon Hayward and if you want a point guard that’s a little rough and rugged and might throw a basketball at a fan court side what about Patrick Beverly be Beverly he loves playing for tibs and there’s one thing I know for a fact tibs is only going to play guys that he likes and tibs I’m pretty sure that he would love to have Beverly on this basketball team that brings you then to prua I’d be totally okay with resigning a Chua you own his bird rights because he is a restricted free agent unless you don’t extend him the qualifying offer at this point yeah I would bring press back unless he would sign a major deal I don’t expect it to happen I could see the Knicks bringing AA back on a threeyear 155 million deal five a year maybe a little bit less than that but I mean you’re already pretty much gled into your spot at this point and um yeah I would bring a chea back and I would round out that roster at 12 players that way I don’t have to play Jericho Sims grade my offse plan for me though in the comments A B C D or F get out your red pin and be critical in the comment section so your potential roster Brunson Bridges OG Randall and hartenstein you’re starting five and then your bench unit jenzo Hart maybe Kelly U maybe Tyler KCK and then Jericho Sims and a b annual vet any of the combination of theet of the Vets we talked about any of the combination of the free agents we talked about and any of the combination of the rookie first round picks and if you bring back precious you’re 1112 deep that’s your full roster and I have confidence in every single one of those players but the fact of the matter is you would be a second apron team with this and I’m totally fine with that because if I know for the next three four five years that my top seven on my roster include Brunson Bridges OG Randall hartenstein Dante D venzo and Josh Hart if those are my top seven I’m ready to go to war I’m ready to battle for the next three four five years I don’t think you need to make another move and it’s still possible just second apron handicaps you a little bit those are the moves I would make I’m trying to win the Eastern Conference next year if you want to argue with me on social media hit me up on Twitter or IG at Marshall greenore and if you could hit that thumbs up icon for me on your way out [Music]

  1. Royce o Neal adds nothing to this team, undersized tweener who can’t create his own shot, I’ll have to pass on him

  2. Pass on looney as well, if gsw wasn’t playing him, a team in which needed a big, then I don’t see him producing in New York

He’s too slow, lacks a outside shot easy pass

  3. Three team trade NYK receives MIKAL BRIDGES and Jose Alvarado

NOP receives Mitchell Robinson, Bogan and 2 1st rd picks from NYK

BKN receives BRANDON INGRAM and 2 1st picks from NYK
    Then KNICKS re-sign IHart, OG,
    and Precious

BRUNSON, BRIDGES, OG, RANDELL, IHART…… ALVARADO, DONTE, HART, PRECIOUS, DRUMMOND

  4. I would not give up deuce McBride! Let Michell Robinson go, and keep Sims as backup Center. He needs playing time. Poor guy is wasting away! Keep Alec Burks. Let Bogey go! Definitely get Mikal Bridges. OMG is Randle still
here? I guess we’re stuck with him! Keep I Hart and OG!

  5. The injured guys need to only play half a game and no back to backs during the regular season . The Knicks have depth . Keep Burks if he's cheap.

  6. This is assuming that Boston is the team to beat next season. How about just building a better team? All this "run it back" and "Nova boys" madness needs to be tossed it the bin. Everyone fell in love with this team and they were more fun to watch than many ast seasons but I don't believe they would have beat Boston, even at full strength.

  7. I think Looney should be their first option, followed by Oubre. And then they could bring in Drummond. Good solid rebounder and scorer. And waiving Bogdonovic is a no brainer.

  8. Celtics play well as a team. Dallas really only has IRVING and LUKE on offense……Liveli helps but really they don't have guys who are scorers……

  9. They need a longer 4 to prevent teams from getting 5 foot shots when center has to leave middle to guard opponents at 3 point line. See indy games. Hartenstein or robinson next to a Durant or markenson make sense.

  10. Knicks PLEASE DONT MAKE THAT TRADE!!! That’s WAY too much for bridges.. idc if you have 1000 1st rd picks. Don’t be silly and overpay for him NKY.

  11. Chemistry is key to any team, they currently have that. If healthy we could have beaten Boston hands down.
Trade Robinson and get another big body

  12. They can’t get Mitch, McBride & 5 firsts 😂 unless they taking Milwaukee, Washington & Detroit picks 😂

  13. Marshall why are you constantly having the Knicks Giving Up So Many pics for players on their current team they're not even a star question mark Bridges is not worth five first round picks. That's just ridiculous. 2 years ago you didn't want to give up for first round picks to get Donovan Mitchell you want to give 5 1st for Mikhail Bridges? Come on bro

  14. if i was the Nets i would do that trade in a heart beat..Bridges isnt that good..Have you watched him play?????all picks have to be unprotected…..
