Dan Hurley speaks on rejecting the Lakers’ $70M coaching offer | SC with SVP
[Music] Dan Hurley back at stores after rejecting a 6year $70 million offer from the Lakers Hurley said the decision was not quote a leverage play he already had leverage because his team had won a couple of titles in a row here’s Hurley on if there was a number that he would not have been able to refuse I think everybody has a dollar what is that I mean that’s like I don’t know what that looks like I couldn’t imagine what the number was um but I’m sure every human being has a number that they wouldn’t but that was a big number uh considering places that I’ve coached I’ve coached a lot less for a lot less than that the part that that sucked was that I wish it would have been a worse opportunity right like you know it was the Lakers man you know it’s like you just wish it wasn’t that unbelievable of an opportunity cuz it that’s the only type of thing it would have taken you know for me to have any consideration of leaving a place like this are you at Yukon for life now or could there be a an opportunity three or four years after you’ve accomplished more here where you feel okay the NBA would be cool now yeah um I it’s hard to project all the way out that far um but it’s tough to uh you know if you’re going to pass on that to stay here so Hurley turned down the offer which means the Lakers continue to search for their third coach in as many seasons in a sense they fired Frank Bogle who you will recall won a title then they gave Darin ham two years now JJ reck will interview it is a glamour franchise there is no argument otherwise but the lack of continuity and an aging Superstar who’s got unmatched power and also has a son entering the draft create I think some interesting questions for whoever is a candidate for and or gets the gig primarily how much power do I really have and how much runway am I really going to get those would be the primary concerns I would think [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

I don’t think Hurley wanted to leave to begin with, He just allowed the lakers to pursue him and see what they had to offer.
This goes to show why the Lakers look just as bad as they look right now trying to hire him out of desperation, especially with the way that this team is constructed
so tired of this man……get him off the media…. He used the Lakers to get a bigger contract with Uconn… everyone blind can see that…. Says its not leverage but then says ofc there is a number but never countered the offer lakers offered him. He aleady wanted to stay no matter what. LOL
