The PERFECT Off-season for the Houston Rockets…
this off season is extremely important for the Houston Rockets because they have an elite future one of the best in basketball they’ve got their franchise player established in al singon they have the number three overall pick coming off of a year where they went 41 and 41 their best record in years and they have you know question marks with Jaylen green but young stars that are emerging in Jabari Smith Jr and others a plethora of young wings and bigs especially with the Steven Adams Edition and eoka is one of the best young coaches in the NBA especially when it comes to developing wings and they have good ones here in Houston um all three of those guys you go with jayen green Jabar Jr we talked about the bigs the offseason goals which we will talk about all these in today’s video if they make a big trade or not if they keep or shop the third pick in the draft if they spend or save in free agency and they need to have lots of internal growth so first let’s take a look at the trade market and this is a guy that has been linked to Houston for quite some time Mcall Bridges uh who almost got shipped at the deadline it was a swap Jaylen Green from Mall Bridges and they were going to throw in two or three first round picks which ended up being you know that Brooklyn pick which was the third pick in this year’s draft and then the 2026 pick the 2027 swap mall is a guy that averaged 20 points a game 4.5 rebounds on 44% shooting from the field and 37% from three the three first round picks they were going to give up for Mall bridges are right there and would you do that if you’re the Rockets I think you can this lineup becomes Elite we’ll see what they do with Jaylen green you know maybe they decide to move to cam Whitmore at the two uh maybe that’s a crazy stake though but this team is very deep if you add in Mall Bridges I mean this bench unit is scary good that’s 50 wins easily in my opinion just because of the depth I mean you add Mall Bridges and Stephen Adams to a 41 Team LA 41 win team last year and their Elite if they decide to keep the pick I think it’s between Reed Shepard Zachary Reese or Cody Williams Reed Shepard absolute sniper extremely high floor underrated Defender as well even though he’s only 6′ three I mean he can really defend great vertical leap I think he’s a perfect fit in Houston because he can just stroke it from downtown shot over 50% from three this year you also have Zachary Reese who’s my number one overall Prospect just did a huge long video on him if you want to watch that go check it out but he’s a 6’1 flamethrower with the most potential in this draft class and he can create off the bounce he will likely be unavailable at pick number three um and then you have the project pick here in Cody Williams his brother is an NBA star in Jaylen Williams and he’s even longer and probably more athletic than his brother uh he’s got huge upside to be an elite Wing score shot over 40% from the three over 50% from the field both of these guys have insane upside but if you want to go for the Shire good fit in Reed Shepard he’s a day one stud I wouldn’t hate you for doing either of those um now will they be an active in free agency that’s the question they are $4 million over the cap and they have some extensions looming with all of these young guys Al singu and jayen green this is going to be the last year of their contracts I don’t think they get anything worked out with Jaylen green the summer because there’s still some stuff to talk about but Alper singu there is no discussion 21 points a game nine rebounds five assists one and a half steals he was dominant this year before the injury 54% shooting from the field the three-point percentage is not great but he really compares to a younger joic at this day and age of his career only 63 games played like we talked about due to that injury but I mean he was 20 or he will be 22 years old next year coming off of a season like that kind of scary he is the new franchise player the new face of the Houston Rockets franchise he’s taking it away from Jaylen Green speaking of Jaylen green he has had some ups and he’s had some Downs this year especially I mean he went on a tear about halfway through the season that got him back into the lineup but for a majority of the Season he couldn’t even be in closing lineups due to being inefficient 20 points a game five boards three and a half assists in 32 minutes per game and the efficiency was just not there whatsoever I mean yeah he can go get you 40 here and there but he only shot 42% from the field and 32% from three on 7.4 attempts that is bad very bad not a good situation here for Jaylen green as you see last year I mean he was better in pretty much every statistical category this year he got played off the court in some closing minutes now the Rockets do have flexibility in free agency because next year Fred vanit will have a $45 million team option and even with that team option they’re only or they’re still like 35 million under the salary cap so they can go out and get some guys unless extensions start to kick in but van Ved averaged 17.4 points 8.1 assist and 3.8 rebounds a game and he’s been a winning point guard in the past as a starter maybe not but they will have a starting point guard battle this year between van vet who he said is the veteran and can provide you know great support for the youth that are trying to develop and then the young guy amen Thompson coming off of his rookie season where he was 21 or he will be 21 years old next year turned 21 about halfway through this season he averaged only about 9.5 points per game but 6.6 rebounds 2.6 assists per game was used more off the ball than I thought he would be but 1.3 Steals and absolutely locked down on the defensive end of the ball 53% from the field 18% from that will have to be addressed but Oka the wing Whisperer and a Min is built like a wing so I think he can help out he also brings the clamps like we said 109 defensive rating which was good enough for second on the Houston Rockets only a guy that we will talk about later but the other rookie this year Amin I had it number four on my big board cam Whitmore I had it number five on my big board and he falls all the way to 20 um just like Michael Porter Jr The Possession ends with Cam Whit more he gets the ball is going up 12.3 points per game 3.7 rebounds 7 assists in 18 minutes a night but you know unlike you may think for a rookie he had a very efficient season 45% from the field 36% from three I will take that seven days out of seven for a rookie guard uh he also has some bouns if you couldn’t tell and per 36 minutes he put up 23.7 points per game 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per night and a guy I think is going to break out this year besides cam Whitmore is Jabar Smith Jr who had a nice uptick in terms of efficiency only went up like a point and a rebound per game but the efficiency was much better he averaged 148 two assist in 32 minutes per game and like we said last year wasn’t very efficient this year he shot at 45% from the field and 36% from three on five attempts he’s still 20 years old and I hope he keeps playing better cuz I put him over Paulo benero in those rankings but last year he averaged about 13 points seven rebounds on 41% shooting from the field 31% from three so as you can see Monumental Improvement in terms of the efficiency but some free agent targets we need to talk about you could save $8 million and get under the soft cap by cutting Jeff Green who I mean it’s not like he had a crazy impactful season this year but he is a good veteran um and some guys I think they should Target right here Malik Beasley the first one great shooter 11 points per game 3.7 rebounds 44% from the field 41% % from three unless you put him in the purple and gold and then Tobias Harris this one’s kind of you know a little bit out there maybe a little bit of a hot take but just two years ago he was almost 50490 on 15 points a game a guy that could really help space the floor for this Rockets team but you got to let this core develop I mean a men cam Whitmore tar een uh Al singon and Jabar Smith Jr all still like 22 or 23 years old some of them like tar een played the entire year while they were 19 or excuse me some of them like cam Whitmore played the entire season while they were 19 Tor een on the other hand averag 10 points a game seven rebounds 1.4 Steals and one block per night while shooting at 47% from the field and 36% from three on 2.3 attempts and like I referenced earlier leading the team in defensive rating with the number one rating on the team they also have these veterans with Van vet with Dylan Brook Stephen Adams that they can mix in uh we’ll see how the extensions go this off season and we’ll see who they pick in the draft but overall Big Time offseason for the Houston Rockets and that is your preview for it hopefully I covered everything in today’s How can u not say mikal properly 💀
Great video. Only thing i would have mentioned as well was how ridiculous Jalen Green looked in March. Kid was looking like the best player in basketball.
Between those flashes and what he showed the first two years, i still think his ceiling is extremely high.
They have a core that looks on track for great things.
I don't think you can acquire Bridges without moving Jalen Green or Dillon Brooks to create a slot in the starting lineup. His trade price is too expensive to just sit him on the bench and I don't think JG or Brooks would be all to happy about being benched either.
