They were dedicated to the development of AD and were not going to invest in Dwight skillset right now. That meant creating a space for AD to grow into and not allowing Dwight into that space. Mostly because of age and knowing Dwight would eventually want to be paid what for what he shows he can do. But they didn't want to tie up money in Dwight when they knew they needed to be spending money on finding complementing pieces for the future. All Dwight sees is right now my window to prove myself is small. I need to show what I can do now so I can reclaim my glory before I hang it up.

Things like this needs to be talked about more, a lot of people don’t understand that how coaches can affect an impact how players play. And a lot of them make bad decisions and necessary decisions that can make players not look their best because they’re following how they think the game should be played, versus how to put guys in position for them to succeed in their roles. Instead they handicap those guys and restrict them and we wonder why they’re not playing their best game
