Anthony Edwards Makes Statement on Michael Jordan

He is an amazing athlete. Being compared to MJ is a lot of pressure. I understand where he is coming from. But, for the writer that wrote this article, AE may look like MJ on the court on the court but he does not off the court! Contrary to opinion all black people do not look alike. Although they are both very handsome men!

Also, just because not all black ppl look alike, doesnā€™t mean that two black people canā€™t look like each other, and MJ and ant definitely do. It has nothing to do with them being blackĀ

Nah he 100% resembles MJ physically. That’s not racist or whatever you were trying to imply there.

    He is bigger than MJ.

Comparable bounce, first step, quickness and guile.Ā

When he is bringing the ball up and decides not to attack right away and is slowing down and just dribbling casually with his off hand just lightly swinging back and forth, it looks like a replica of Jordan. Itā€™s fucking weird but the body movements look so similar and I donā€™t know if anyone else knows what Iā€™m talking about but thatā€™s when Iā€™m like ā€œthis dude might be Jordanā€™s son.ā€

Directly comparing to that era doesn’t make much sense.

Help defense was illegal in the 90s. You could set 3 even 4 players in the weak side 3 point and the entire defense would legally have to stand over there and guard them. The individual defense could be more physical, but offense at the time was essentially a big match of 1on1. If you got by your guy, you could more or less score because the closest help defender was 20ft away. This is why MJ, one the best 1on1 iso players of all time both offensively and defensively, averaged 40+ in the playoffs.

Today, the defenders are much less physical, but the defensive schemes are much more sophisticated. You can bracket offensive players with soft double and triple teams by positioning help defenders where you expect the offensive player to go. You can’t just play 1on1. You need to he able to blow by your guy and then process a read in a half second on if you have a scoring opportunity or if you have an open skip pass for a 3. Facilitating scorers are more valuable than pure scorers. Smart defenders who know where to position themselves are just as valuable as 1on1 defenders. This is why guys like Ant and Tatum need to pick up 8-9 assists ontop of 20-30pts to win a playoff game while MJ was able to average about 4 assists in all his finals runs.
