[Scotto, Begley & Bondy] The expectation as of now is the Knicks will guarantee Bojan Bogdanovic’s salary for the upcoming season, and he’ll become a trade candidate in the final year of his contract as a result.

    >That would put him at $19 million for the 2024-25 season. There are a lot of guys around the league that have a similar type of contract. The Knicks also have draft picks in the future they can dangle.

Unless he’s washed post-surgery, I’d be shocked if he’s traded

The man is one of their best 3 point shooters and was one of their notable bench scorers when the team started running out of bodies to field in the Knicks last few games

I know Bruce to the Knicks is a popular option but given their picks are 24, 25 and 38 in conjunction with the Raptors trading the worst of their 2024 picks to get Olynyk and Ochai… I don’t know, unless it involves that Bucks 2025 trade or there’s someone they really like that drops to 24 who they want to guarantee a 4th rookie year for instead of only 3 (second rounders can get a 4th year but it would make them a UFA instead of an RFA when it expires), I have a hard time seeing them trading for Bruce.

EDIT – Also worth noting: Teams who’ve just traded with one another generally don’t do it again so soon afterwards. I know we all joke about the Spurs being our only trade partners until recently but stuff like trading for Thad Young and Jakob Poeltl in back-to-back seasons is the exception to the rule. Just look around the league and you’ll find very few teams trading with one another year after year.

Are you saying we should aim to get him in a trade? If so, why?

I don’t see the Raptors being better than a 7-8 team at its best next year so why not just tank it out and get a good pick in a WAY stronger draft? Add a young star into a core of still young stars who can all grow together. There’s no need to rush this just to make a low playoff berth

Wrong Bogdanovic. If we had a chance to get Bogdon, I would say go for it. Absolutely love him as a player and what he contributes to a team. Bojan not so much.
