Paul George has been you know on the set for countdown with our whole crew there and the other night embiid is there and they’re asking embiid about the offseason in Philadelphia and This Magnificent moment ensued I can’t stand them I hate Boston you know great City great fans uh you know obviously they got some great players but he he hurts me a lot so hopefully you know this offseason we found a way to get better and you know add some pieces and uh that’s that’s Paul George he’s looking at to be clear we didn’t see it in that pa pa so tight Paul was like just no don’t make eye contact don’t make eye contact you were there right I mean so here’s some context that was not planned Joel embiid showed up Tim bontemps who covers the Sixers for us all the time saw him in the tunnel like hey what are you doing BL hey you want to go on countdown bontemps booked him and brought him onto the set okay so I I know that there’s like this like by the way congrats to our producers said get that man a microphone so Paul George didn’t know he was coming it wasn’t some sort of grand plan just sort of happened if you want to blame somebody blame bontemp but I it didn’t take that little you know look to to know that the Sixers were going to come after him I won’t do that but I will say this what what is what is interesting to me is that the Clippers are very aware that somebody is going to offer him a four-year Max contract whether it’s 76ers or the magic or a team could even trade for him because there’s another thing with Paul George I want to point out he has an option in his contract this is known as the Chris Paul move where you come to the team and say I’m either going to sign with this team over here or you’re going to pick I’m going to pick up my option and you’re going to trade me there so even if you don’t have cap space a team for example underlined for example like the New York Knicks okay if they wanted Paul George they could say you can come to us we will trade for you you don’t have to sign them outright Clippers know all this is going to go on and yet they’re still not making this offer they’re still not doing to do this and so again if you get to July 1 and the Clippers have done this and they’re going to play hard ball that’s when you know he’s truly going to be in the market I I suspect the Clippers read at least on June 17th is that they don’t think he’s actually they’re calling his bluff that they don’t actually think he’s going to leave his hometown of LA to go to Philly or Orlando or something like that he’s also 34 by the way he he and Klay Thompson both at the same age what do you think of this Paul George to Philly does that make them a championship team should someone like the Knicks be involved in this what do you think Drea well I think Paul George could fit with the Knicks because they need three-point shooting they need knock down three-point Shooters but when I think about him with Philly I had the Clippers earlier this season when I was doing NBA sideline and the one thing Paul George told me he said some of our guys like to play certain ways like James Harden likes pick and roll actions and he said I like to play in Randomness I like to be creative I like to play fast I like to play with Pace when I think about Tyrese Maxi pushing the ball in transition kicking it to Paul George so he can play in Randomness playing off of Joel embiid and also catch and shoot threes phly was 25th in the lead in catch and shoot threes Paul George hit those at 45% this season so he feels an immediate need for Philly and I do see him fitting really well with the pace that Maxi plays with and the way that he likes to play he being Paul George look the Celtics have some decisions to make on Derek white obviously Jason Tatum’s going to get paid a lot there’s a lot of second apron penalties that come along with them being over the cap like I I think Paul George makes Joell embiid a contender for a world championship and shout out to Joel embiid I know we’re missing we’re talking Paul George here on the lwh hang fruit like I I love how he always incites conversation like this and for a guy that hasn’t been to the Easter Conference Finals that understands all that I love that he stated he hates Boston I want to see rivalries in this game he’s nicknamed himself Trel I love it so this is what he does uh and and then Allan back to you as my resident Nicks uh person here Wendy just said there’s a way the Nicks could trade for him some might look at him and say if he was on the floor and healthy which of course for the Knicks nobody was they might be playing right now what do you think well I know that last summer they did actually try to trade for him at least had discussions about trying to trade for him it was the extension part that really was the end of the conversation but they they have been interested in Paul George and he would be a another player who could in theory negotiate and get a contract done within hours of the end of the finals is O anobi yep let’s keep an eye on that most people believe that anobi will stay with New York but there have been indications that he may want to test the market because he’s not with what the I’ve heard I’ve heard that internally as well okay we’re going to get to that as we continue in the meantime I want to show you another moment from yesterday in sports it’s part of a a game that is the Rivalry that we think May Define the WNBA going forward it’s Caitlyn Clark and the fever it’s Angel Reese and the sky Drea we’re in the first quarter here and Caitlyn had a very good day yeah you wanted to see Caitlyn response she struggled the game before going into this game only had seven points responded Big Time knockdown shots against Chicago on the other side that’s Marina May feed it’s a three-point game now we go to the third quarter and here’s the moment everyone’s going to be talking about this is Caitlyn Clark going to the hole and that’s Angel Reese with the foul hits her in the head it’s a flagrant one what do we see yeah Angel Reese it looks like she’s trying to get the block shot it’s frustrating for Chicago fans because Isabelle Harrison was right there to make a beautiful play but Izzy hits her with the body Angel hits her in the head she was making a basketball play in my opinion we’ll have more thoughts on it in a moment in the meantime when this game was being decided it was Caitlyn Clark knocking down Big Shots she had 23 points nine assists eight rebounds and here she will find Nelissa Smith for the dagger layup Angel ree had 11 points 13 boards and the fever get the win here they are the two Rivals after the game just a part of basketball it is what it is um you know trying to play make a play on the ball and and and get the block um but yeah I mean it happens it’s a basketball play I can’t control the refs they affected the game obviously a lot tonight I mean I’m always going for the ball but y’all G to play that clip but 20 times before Monday I think you know what she’s done with her platform has been absolutely incredible I’ve played her for a very long time and she’s been a tremendous player so um you know it’s been fun getting to compete against I think it’s been really good for the game okay so there’s all of that and had it it it is one of these storylines that just continues to pop up again so when we see that play what did we see yeah it’s going to pop up because well one it’s Caitlyn Clark and people that aren’t familiar with this league don’t know how physical this league is so they see Caitlyn Clark getting hit at any point and they think it’s an attack on her the good part about this is it is a basketball play Angel Reese makes plays like this all the time it’s a poor defensive decision because she’s got helps side sliding right there that’s Isabel Harrison who played with me at Tennessee and made a lot of those plays often when I was the one making the foul and didn’t need to but Angel Reese goes for Block shots like that it’s not a smart defensive play she’s trying to make the block but what were we talking about with the Kennedy Carter hit the biggest grievance was it was not a basketball play it wasn’t even close this is a basketball play She’s beat she’s trying to recover trying to get the blocked shot this is a great the these two going at each other Angel and Caitlyn in a basketball sense and trying to lead their team it’s what helped women’s college basketball blow up if it’s going to help continue for the WNBA to blow up as well it does feel as though it could be the riv that defines the league going forward just as a quick afterthought not afterthought by any means as a quick follow-up thought that kind of play you’re saying for there’s a lot of fans who only watch Caitlyn Clark’s games and don’t see the others that is the kind of play you might see in any game on any night in the WNBA yes you could see plays like that like go I I can’t Asia Wilson got clipped in the face her nose was Bloody Skyler diin Smith took an elbow to the mouth teeth looked like they were about to fall out I’m telling you like this is a physical League I know one of the plays we showed earlier in the season it was eie magore from Seattle who’s a shot blocking machine she hit Caitlyn when she was attempting to block a shot but eie mbor does that in the league for all the three blocks that she’s going to get she’s going to get one foul going for the Block it’s a physical League they don’t let you have
