Is A Lauri Markkanen Trade IMMINENT

to trade or not to trade that is the question when it comes to the Utah Jazz star and Mainstay L marinin the man has put on a clinic since coming to Salt Lake City and honestly it hasn’t been close to his production from other years when he was with the bulls and previously with the Cleveland Cavaliers he’s blossomed into a current number one but seems like on the championship Contender he would be an ideal number two or number three option that can provide you with Elite shooting Touch without having to touch the ball for a significant period of time of an offensive possession to provide that offsetting balance defensively he does have a couple issues but his length and overall surprising athleticism allows for him to be above average when he really wants to and in the perfect scheme I could see him being an extreme Plus on that side of the ball today we’re going to be talking about what his numbers are looking like from this past season and what potential trade targets the Jazz could be seeing in this off seon in exchange for him if they decide to deal him with that being said it’s your boy R hoes thanks for tuning in this video go and smash that like button subscribe and turn on post notifications if you’re into NBA basketball or if you’re a fan of Larry Markin let’s go ahead and get into [Music] [Music] it l Markin and played in 55 games this past season and started in all 55 of them he did end up dealing with a couple injuries and towards the end of the season he just eventually got shut down because there wasn’t much point in playing him in needless games after the trade deadline where we unloaded a lot of pieces and were unable to bring in an allst star/ Superstar caliber player in return he ended up playing 33 minutes in those matches and ended up scoring 23.2 points 8.2 rebounds two assists .9 steals five blocks and a lowly 1.4 turnovers he also managed to shoot 48% from the field and 39.9% from Beyond The Arc while also putting up 89.9% from the free throw line and sporting a true shooting percentage of 63.1% these are terrific numbers if you are a fan of the Utah Jazz and quite honestly that’s somebody that you would love to have on your roster for the long term with that in mind though you come to a Crossroads at the end of this season as the NBA finals are fastly approaching where you must decide what to do with that star player they do have Colin seon who sported himself as being a really strong number two and at times even been the number one in lry Marin’s absence but overall he hasn’t been enough individually for you to sit there and say he is the number one option on a championship caliber team with that in mind it puts you in a position to where you have to understand Larry Markin is up for an extension do you frontload the contract and give yourself the opportunity to be a little bit more lucrative and the opportunities of potentially resigning other young players that you end up drafting as they start reaching stardom or do you see a world where you go ahead and resign him but end up shipping him out in exchange for a package of a solid young player or two and then three to four first round draft picks the choice is entirely up to you for myself personally I lean towards the belief that lry marinan is a potential building block for this team and being that he is one of the only Allstar that has been either traded or willingly signed to the Jazz that enjoys being with the Jazz I think that it’s worth keeping him around he’s bought into the culture he never has a moment where he doesn’t seem like he enjoys being around he’s a very winers kind of guy but he does understand that there are growing paints and he has been through the mixer with the Jazz that in mind he wants to be a winner and I could see a world where he ends up not really wanting to sign the extension and perhaps he wants to end up actually getting traded to a contending team but at the age of 27 he has a lot of years left to still play and considering his play style his game will continue to allow him to stay in the leag for a significant period of time I think that it would be in his best interest to stay with the Utah Jazz so long as Danny H is properly building and as he said in his exit interview saying that they’re going big game hunting would end up providing them with that other star and potentially that number one option that would allow low to take a step back and continue to play his game the way that he does but also do it on a bigger stage because Jazz fans don’t want to sit here and go from being a bottom 10 team in the league to being a bottom 15 team in the league you want to have the ability to be a genuine Contender now the rebuild process hasn’t been nearly as long as somebody say the Pistons or the magic or the Hornets who seem to be just in a Perpetual state of fail so the Utah Jazz fandom have had the opportunity to be good for a very significant period of time before trading away obviously Donovan Mitchell and Rudy goar but now they’re in a period where they’re trying to find themselves once again and I think that there is a sneaky reason for why you would want to trade low the ability to have extra cap picks and eventually lure in an even more massive star to your team that isn’t really focused on the glitz and glamour that comes with playing for really big Market teams is very tantalizing to think of but at the same time there’s no guarantee of that and that’s the most scary part of it it’s not as though we’re talking about the New York Knicks or we’re talking about the Lakers or we’re talking about the Clippers they play in cities where there’s stuff to do they attract Stars naturally so all you have to do is present them with the opportunity to be the number one option as well as tell them that you’re going to build around them and explain to them why they are necessary to the process and boom you have a star the Jazz don’t have that luxury and and at the moment Lowry is all they have but there is a couple of teams that have potentially the opportunity to come calling and the list goes on and on surprisingly enough the warriors were named as one the Lakers were named as another and OKC seem to be the front runner because they have a tremendous pool of young talent but they also have the greatest amount of draft picks to swing around in the entire league they also have the Knicks on the list and there have been a couple people saying that the Spurs could potentially get in the mix as well I would like to see a world where the Jazz end up bringing in another star but for now we’re just going to focus on the potential of him going to those teams in a world where so many things are uncertain and the NBA has a lot of young guys that are taking that next step in really reaching their peaks and stardom it calls into question what the Jazz need to do in order to be a very proficient roster closing out this season the Jazz were 12th in the West after essentially tanking and just putting themselves in a position to where they just played a bunch of the young guys and gave them an opportunity to show what exactly they had at the number one you had the Thunder who are a young team you had the Nuggets who are a fairly young team you have the Timberwolves who are also a young team you have the Clippers who are aging their way out a little bit because of injuries more than anything then you have the Mavericks who are young the Suns who are a mixture you have the Lakers and then continuing on down the road you have the Pelicans the Kings and the Warriors who are all in the mix and then you have the Rockets who are roughly the same tier as the Jazz beneath them you had the Grizzlies the Spurs and the Trailblazers the only teams beneath them that will likely stay there next year is probably the Spurs and the Trailblazers unless something miraculous happens now obviously Victor webam is doing great things but when he does not play for the Spurs the Spurs look like hot dog water and if you’re the Trailblazer scoot Henderson didn’t exactly have the greatest rookie year and they don’t necessarily have the proper situations to allow them to be the most successful as a result you find yourself in a situation where the trail beers are going to be at the bottom and the will likely be at the bottom but the Grizzlies with a healthy jar rant back from surgery and Rehab could end up Lea frogging the Jazz as well so that puts you in a situation where you don’t know necessarily what you have you would love to see a situation where the Jazz end up jumping all the way from 12th up to 6th or 5ifth but that’s going from 31 games up to 50 and in my original prediction for the season I had them right there around 500 to at best probably 44 and 38 but after the trade deadline that completely went through the wall and effectively it put them in a position to where they just don’t have that opportunity and I find it hard to believe that coming into this next season unless they do manage to bring in another star that they will see a drastic increase just with the young players that they have and if they do end up drafting three more rookies to add to the fold and you you have a bunch of guys that are under the age of 20 and that makes up almost half of your entire roster that just doesn’t make very much sense so we’re going to final ourselves in a situation where either the Jazz say yes we can get a new guy that’s going to help us reach that contention level of status or Danny a isn’t going to like what he sees which is probably the most likely and zanic will probably agree with him and then you’ll end up selling out lry marinan or you could keep him now the logic behind this is the simple fact that Cooper flag and a bunch of other players that are more Surefire are going to be available in next year’s draft if the Jazz don’t think they can conceivably move up in the standings by significant margin it might be in their best interest and I’m sure that the front office feels this way to just let the young guys play a year trade a couple assets around and then once you have the high opportunity to get a Cooper flag type of talent you go ahead and pair whoever that opportunistic player is along with Lowry so then you have a homegrown and more Surefire opportunity of being a star and while Lowry will obviously be 28 going into a year where you actually plan on winning something he’ll still at that peak time and if he does genuinely like Utah and he doesn’t necessarily care so much to be part of an immediate Contender he might actually be willing to stay the task especially considering the fact that the Jazz can resign him for that significant portion of money and they don’t necessarily have to trade him he’s previously stated that he enjoys being a Utah and to a certain extent it does remind him of his home of Finland so in that same vein I could see a world where the Utah jazs actually don’t send him away to any of the teams that I after mentioned and instead decide to just dog it out this year trade a couple pieces around let their young guys play see improvement from konay George Taylor Hendricks and Bry sensal as well as any of the other young guys that they end up drafting or seeing if Kenneth Lofton Jr can end up being something useful for them in the future and then once next year comes around and they end up in roughly the same spot no matter how high their pick is in the top 10 go ahead and throw all the assets on the table in favor of getting that young rookie that will end up being the ideal fit next to lry marinin necessarily could it be Cooper flag potentially I myself am not the highest on Cooper flag because of some things and I might do a breakdown video on his game later on but he’s not a bad player and by any stretch of the imagination and he does present the opportunities and the tools physically for himself to be an elite player in the league for years to come that being said you guys let me know what you think in the comments below I’m always interested to hear you guys’ thoughts do you guys think that the Utah Jazz should keep l marke in or do you think there’s a specific team that they could potentially trade him to if you think that they should keep him but you feel in your gut that they’re going to trade him what team would you prefer he gets traded to and what assets would you expect in the background thanks for tuning this video it’s your boy rth H make sure to smash that like button subscribe and turn on post notifications and become a member to help support the content coming up later on down the road I will have video breakdowns of what each of those teams that I mentioned before could potentially offer in a trade and then we’ll hear from you guys as to what you prefer in those situations if they do come to pass pass good morning good evening and good night no matter where you’re on the globe watching thanks for tuning in and I’ll catch you guys in the next one peace [Music] [Music]

In this video we discuss the increased interest in Lauri Markkanen that teams are having and what the most likely steps forward will be if they elect to deal him in favor of a young star player and stronger draft capital. Danny Ainge said he wants to go “Big Game Hunting” this offseason but only the front offie knows what that will look like.

  1. *sigh😢

Can you believe that the front office really troed selling this as a 3-year "re-tool" after the Rudy amd Don trades……amd yet here we are only just now bottoming out. Makes me utterly sick they did this tear down over multiple years. We could have had one of the Thompson kids. KG is just gonaa be alright, hes not the guy. Just another inefficoint, replaceable scorer witha bits of passing. A young Jordan Clarkson with less wiggle and bounce to his game but more passing chops. Maybe he can be Coby White at the top end?

LM is super rare. Most guys dont take a leap in year 6. Most of the "it" guys its obviouss by Christmas. They literally jump off the screen. They do stuff 7 year vets do from the jump. They dont shoot 39 percent from the field and become Donovan Mitchell 2 years later Players that had a start like Keyonte become like…..RJ Barrett.

  2. i dont fully get this "2nd or 3rd on a championship" team narration. on a championship team each piece is important and lauri can be the lead scorer against a certain type of opponents if paired with guys that complements each other, and 2-3rd against other teams.
    great content mate, btw 🙂

  3. i thought he'd fit best to warriors but you made me stop and consider spurs an interesting alternative to for Lauri if he's getting traded

  4. looking forward to your trade offer videos. The next big question will be to try to extend Lauri, as they need to do that to get full value if they decide to trade. The other big question is how bad will they be if they stand pat? Bad enough to get into the top 3 of the draft?

  5. Jazz problem is that if they trade Lauri, there is even less reasons why anyone really good player would come to utah. Lauris problem is that jazz not gonna be any good in this decade. Unless they get superstar level point guard. Its very unlikely. However, if they get that jazz will be competing very soon. But like i said, its very unlikely.

I hope Lauri get traded, just because i want to see him compete and jazz dont compete at all. Im not beliver because since Gobert & Mitchell trades Ainge has been trying get basicly everyone in utah and get nobody any good. Also jazz picks are late 1st rounders mostly. They need hit jackpot if they want get superstar out of those picks. Its possible (example Jokic was 41st if i remeber right) but unlikely.

Teams what may get Lauri i would like to see him go to spurs. Even when there is no rumors abt that. It would be so easy for him to shoot open threes and get dunks because opponent double & triple wemby. That would be awesome. Altou i havent seen yet wemby playing big minutes, his body may not be able to be healthy. Tall skinny guys are sometimes injury prone.

Anyway, whatever happens i will watch him playing, even when it would be another tanking year in utah. There is so many those years to come if he must stay there.

  6. We traded Donovan Mitchell for an expensive tv, then pawned the tv for the most expensive toaster in the world, then pawned the toaster off for 100 dollars in all ones, i want to see Lauri Markkenan remain on this team

  7. As much as I love Markkanen and want to keep him, I don't believe the Jazz will get any star player this summer to pair with him. Why? Because in 50 years, they have never been able to do that. To me, it's much likelier the Jazz trade him. As it makes no sense for them — or for him — to waste three or four of his prime years waiting for the Jazz to contend. Who has got the best shot at trading for him? OKC. See my other post for an OKC trade that works.

  8. A lot of OKC fans want Lauri Markkanen. Here's a trade that works.* Utah Jazz get: four first-round picks, Josh Giddey, Ousmane Dieng and Cason Wallace. After their second-round elimination in the playoffs, OKC fans are willing to pay the price to get Markkanen. I recommend that one of the four draft picks the Jazz get is the one they gave OKC for taking Derrick Favors off their hands back in 2021. *This trade was checked on the ESPN Trade machine.

  9. In my opinion, there is only 1 scenario where the Jazz deal Lauri. If it became painfully obvious that even if the young players are improving they will not progress in time to take advantage of Lauri's prime. As you say he is 27, near the peak of career if Walker, Keyonte, et al are something like 5 to 6 years away, the Jazz are going to be in a VERY tough spot. What sucks is that I LOVE Lauri but the onus is on the young guys to learn and learn fast.

  10. OKC, Dallas, San Antone and maybe Minny look to be dominant for years. Lauri seems good but not a game changer. I think you can expect Trader Dan to be dealing for picks.

  11. In the promo material they dropped for the new jerseys today, it features Lauri, Walker, Keyonte and Brice. Might not mean anything, might mean they are getting ready to let Clarkson go? 🤔

  12. As a Knicks fan, I would be very interested in Markkenen. I would like to know how he's against other bigs 6-'10"+. How's his strength against Embid for example. Lastly, what's the trade price. If you already have him why not keep him as he's not a player that's easy to find.

  13. The Spurs are going to be significantly better. Wemby has expressed a serious commitment to winning. I believe he is going to be demanding that his teammates are in the gym, working together, and generally improving. Pop and the Spurs' front office has historically relied upon players' opinions on whom to keep and trade and I believe that they'll put Wemby on this level due to his maturity and intelligence. Wemby's going to say "who's with me?" Whomever is working stays and plays, whomever doesn't get with the program will be gotten rid of.

They'll be a play in team next year, well above the Jazz.

  14. utah best bet is to trade lauri but i the only teams that would make sense would be okc and new york…. and i'd hate that my glorious king lauri would play for NY (okc is good)..
i'd love the mavs trading for him with josh green , o-max and hardy+ 2 firsts but obviously NY and OKC can put on the table a Better offer

  15. I've been grinding this same thing on every channel, but as a big Markkanen fan, I just have to write about this again: We had a short window of time where we saw what the Jazz could do if they had a P&R PG like Mike Conley. If you followed the Jazz games then, Markkanen and Conley's P&R worked really well and made defenders life hell.

Now that I said that, I would also want to see Lauri in a team that would be "equipped" for the playoffs, but I know that Markkanen doesn't like moving at all, having had to experience it, now quite a bit, so I would like to see that Jazz would just make a competing roster how ever hard/ impossible it would be.
