Bunch of haters but yes I don’t think JB and JT would be the players they are today without Smart. These players def earned it.

  2. Jpgamerguy90

We never win a title with Smart. Holiday is everything we thought Smart was.

  3. mickeyj623

Thank you Smart for everything, come back and run it back

  4. ATrueSunbro

I know we don’t win this with him. I know that we needed to move on and the trade was obviously a GREAT move. But goddamn if he isn’t always a Celtic, full stop. He helped many on this team become who they are. Always love to Smart.

  5. sonQUAALUDE

marcus truly died for this 🙏

heres hoping they do an Al for him and we get him back for another run

  6. Wore his jersey tonight. I know moving him was necessary for this but man I still miss him

  7. Champion-of-the-Sun5

He has no part in this title.

    What the hell?

  8. CyberpunkSkylanes

Weird take, considering that dumping him was the key to this championship.

  9. Oh my god get over it he had nothing to do with this

  10. Belicheckyoself

I will always love Smart, but Brad did all the right moves. Congrats to this fucking team!

  11. cheezepie

Ban these posts ffs. There’s a reason we got over the hump the first year after Smart got dealt. This shit diminishes what THIS TEAM just accomplished. Smart had nothing to do with this. This isn’t his trophy. We wouldn’t have won with his ego controlling this team. I dont miss him. BANNER FUCKING 18!

  12. Yeah love the guy but holy shit did he hold the team back.

  13. lefebrave

Let’s also remember that if we couldn’t replace his void with Jrue, we might still not get it. Jrue played a very important role all playoffs. This final game included. So many times (at the start of this game for example) Jrue preserved our control on the game and hold the ground, similar to what Smart did in game 6 against Philly last year. I agree Jrue is clearly the better player but he wasn’t there to get when we had to give up Smart, there was no guarantee.

Can we stop talking about him now after this it’s so old he isn’t here he isn’t getting a ring we don’t have to post him after everything we do let it go

  15. Mister9Incher

No. NO. He is not a part of this team. Let him GO

  16. orangotai

wait why is it his trophy? i mean i like the guy but.. he didn’t play on this team. and it does seem like they hit another gear since they left, to be frank. not his fault, i think he didn’t really mesh with First Row Joe & also it was good for Tatum & Brown (especially) to become Leaders for this team.

though maybe he taught a thing or two to Tatum & Brown as well, so who knows what they’d be now if he was never there

  17. coffeespeaking

Okay, get a grip, this season was most definitely not about Smart.

  18. This team is here because Smart wasn’t. They weren’t ever going to climb the mountain with that guy. It baffles me that some fans don’t see that.

  19. Culinary-Vibes

How is this his trophy? Lol, Smart stans are crazy.

Love what he did for us, but he did not contribute to this title. Him leaving did much good for the Jay’s and Mazz.

I don’t understand the millennial/gen z fascination with Marcus Smart. He was an overrated ball hog so we traded him and won the championship the very next year. It’s honestly weird af to celebrate a guy who wasn’t on the team at all this season but hey we won so go off

I loved the way he played if he understood his role. He thought he was at least on the level of JT & JB, he wasn’t. We are not champs with him, he would not allow it with his selfish play.

Whites tip in was only good because of a Smart brick with 3 seconds left. That’s the last thing I remember from him. Loved his play style hated him a player.

Jrue is everything we needed Smart to be, yet Smart refused to play the role so he was gone.

This team was so much better off without Marcus Smart, and this subreddit’s weird obsession with him continues to be incredibly sad. Why are we talking about a player who isn’t on the championship winning team?

  24. The Js would had gotten to this destination with or without Smart. You folks talk about Smart like if he was Pierce, and even more than Pierce. He was holding back the development of the Js, I was glad I didn’t have to see a random heat check like if he was Curry. Glad he’s gone, banner 18 baby!

  25. the_spinetingler

He gave his all for the Celtics, but his all wasn’t enough.

I swore a whole lot less at my tv after he got traded.

  26. Ok_Seaweed_9452

Im over him since the trade, thanks for all his done but we don’t win with him, may lose some more games against pacers or cavs and who knows if we got more injuries because of that.

  27. South_Front_4589

Nothing wrong with respecting a guy who played for the team for a long time, but he had nothing to do with this, except as part of the trade moves that brought Porzingas and Holiday.

  28. Love Smart but no, it’s not as much his trophy as it is ours. So cringey. He legit had nothing to do this and was moved because he didn’t exactly make it easy for Jayson & Jaylen to become the leaders of the team. So while I respect Smart’s contributions over the years, no, this isn’t anything about him. Again, so cringey

  29. Spider_Moltisanti

Smart was the reason we didn’t win in 2022 and last year…taking this corny take and leave it in the trash

  30. vinsalducci

Pfft. The best thing he did for this championship was GET TRADED. He was about HIM-this team is about the TEAM. He wouldn’t fit.

  31. Eddie__Sherman

I thanked him already. He has nothing to do with this trophy.

  32. Lots of lost comrades who I wish could’ve been apart of this

  33. YellowRobeSmith

Kyrie Irving helped the Cs win a championship this year more than Marcus freaking Smart did.

    5-16 and -11

  34. Metatron-el

I mean, I don’t want to be a hater but it’s pretty clear now that he was part of the problem.

  35. FlyGuyDan

My smart shirsey was good luck all season. I’ll be rocking it at the parade too.
