Denver Nuggets Assistant Coach Ryan Bowen explains why Nikola Jokic is always prepared
time for a few extra minutes with nuggets assistant head coach Ryan Bowen also a former nugget five years with Denver 10 years and all in the NBA and a lot of work with the MVP the three-time MVP should have been for can you just kind of take us behind the curtain a little bit everyone loves to talk about the Joker and we’ve we’ve seen so much of him but as a guy who works with him day in and day out how has he been able to achieve what he’s achieved he’s just consistent he has a routine that he does and he does not Veer from it no matter what the situation is he is going to do his routine so if it’s a if it’s a day after the game or a day before a game he knows what he needs to do to get ready for that next game and and it’s once he starts his workout he’s not going to stop for anything he’s going to he’s going to finish it he’s going to make certain number of shots in this spot and that spot and do this move and that move and he’s consistent with it and I think he does it on a daily basis so that there’s no you know varing from that I think that’s one of the reasons that has made him such a special player the only team the Boston Celtics did not beat this season was the Denver Nuggets you guys will not have the Target on your back next season how different will that be to not be the team that everyone gears up for and how much can it help to get back to winning another championship I think it’ll be good I think it’ll be I mean teams are still going to be gunning for us because you know we are the Nuggets we we are champions but to not to be that team I think it’s going to it’s going to help us maybe a refocus with our guys with us in general just to see hey what can we do to uh to make ourselves better to get us to that next step next year to get us back to that spot so we’re playing um I think overall it could be really good for us isn’t it pretty cool to say but they’re gunning for us because we’re the Nuggets because it wasn’t always that way my goodness it used to be they were gunning us because we were the Nuggets you know they were like oh this is an easy one check this one off uh you know we had a couple bad years back in the day but um you know it’s great it’s really neat to to be that one of the elite teams in the NBA you look at our win total over the years um you know we’re up there with anybody over the last you know five years our playoff wins all those things you can’t talk about anybody else without talking about the nuggets in terms of you know most wins and all that kinds of thing so it’s really neat to be a part of it I I feel very fortunate to have been a part of it this long and I think it it also helps being a player so I’m I’m a former player now I’m here and kind of seeing this thing grow uh has been really special last one for you you’re also a former Iowa Hawkeye what’s it like when you go back to Iowa City you said you were just there recently how much Caitlyn Clark talk oh it’s it’s it’s amazing everywhere you go it’s Caitlyn Clark have you watched did you see what that girl did to her did you see that push did you see that flager F now it it’s pretty neat it’s really special what what she has done for the game uh how she continues to grow the game and and and it’s really fun in general to watch but man her presence in Iowa City is pretty cool you see a lot of Indiana Fever gear in Iowa uh but but it’s really neat to see Ryan Bowen used to be a big deal in Iowa City now it’s all Caitlin yeah exactly thanks Ryan appre appr than you y that was a few extra minutes
Nikola Jokic has an extensive preparation he always follows before games, Denver Nuggets Assistant Coach Ryan Bowen said.
