SBNation Updated Mock Draft

  1. Portland Trail Blazers – Cody Williams, F, Colorado
The Blazers have been connected to several players at this point in the pre-draft process: Clingan (who they might have to trade up for), Tennessee wing Dalton Knecht, and French forward Tijane Salaun, all of whom have officially had workouts with the team. Cody Williams has also reportedly had a less publicized meeting in Portland, and would seem to fit well as a long-term piece on the wing around Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson. The real question is how much pressure Portland’s front office is under to try to inch this thing closer to competitiveness. The Blazers still feel far away from making a real push in the West, and Williams is far away from hitting his potential ceiling as an NBA player. This pick makes sense unless someone powerful in the organization is starting to lose patience.

  2. Portland Blazers – Tristan da Silva, F, Colordo
A four-year player at Colorado, da Silva is a tall shooter who lacks premium athletic ability. Portland is the only team he’s worked out for at this point, according to HoopsHype, and it’s easy to see his potential value there as a floor spacer for Scoot Henderson and Co. Indiana center Kel’el Ware and Miami forward Kyshawn George feel like other options here.

I thought it was an interesting tidbit about the not publicized meeting between Williams and the Blazers. Could potentially be our guy.

  2. Cody must have been impressing teams in workouts, there was a moment when he was slipping a bit but 7 may need his floor now?

Risacher-Buzelis-Knecht-Cody-Holland are my 5 favorite wings. I would be happy with any of them but I guess this is where scouting really plays a part because I don’t think all of them will be great, so really a matter of who you think will end up the best.

Holland the most raw but most explosive. Buzelis is the biggest and most versatile imo. Risacher is the most proven and the highest floor. Knecht is the most polished and is the best scorer but the oldest. Cody is interesting because he shown a little of everything but in small doses.

Guess we got to trust Schmitz…

So we’re trying to be the Knicks, that’s cool

Listen. Cody has been my favorite prospect since the start of the year. If we come away with him, I would be overly excited. This is a player I feel like we can develop. And in 2-4 years, he’ll be a great edition to this squad. Assuming Scoot & Shae develop of we hope.

I like Cody, but I’d still prefer Holland. I know his shooting was garbage, but I believe in his athleticism and defense just a bit more than Williams
