Cavs Head Coach Search: Top Candidates Analyzed

Cavs Head Coach Search: Top Candidates Analyzed

What’s going on, guys? Thank you for tuning in. This is my first Cavs video in a while. There’s been a lot of speculation going around between many teams’ head coaching searches, particularly the Cavaliers and the Lakers. I wanted to come on here and talk about the Cavs’ head coaching search. Everyone knows we fired J.B. Bickerstaff and are still on the hunt for some head coaches. Here are the three candidates: Kenny Atkinson – He turned around the Brooklyn Nets recently and gave up several young players. One thing I’ll stress a lot about is the importance of this with the Cavs. James Borrego – His name has been kind of laughed at because of his time with the Hornets, but he did build some positive team culture, something they’ve lacked pretty much ever since they became the Hornets (they were the Bobcats when they went up against LeBron in the playoffs when he was with Miami). He’s good at rotations and adjustments, which is something J.B. Bickerstaff lacked. He couldn’t rotate or switch effectively. While he did turn around the rebuild and brought them to the playoffs, if you’re a Cavs fan, you knew he wasn’t very good at lineups, switches, and adjustments. David Adelman – This kind of reminds me of Luke Walton. He was with Golden State during their 73-win season and won the year before with them. He was an assistant with the Nuggets under Michael Malone, who is a good coach. Adelman played a role in the deep playoff runs and has a knack for motivating players. Being an assistant to someone like Michael Malone certainly helped as well. All three of these guys are solid head coaching candidates, and I’m okay with any of them. I think the one people might single out is James Borrego because culture isn’t stressed enough, but I think Atkinson and Adelman are both good coaching candidates. If I had to lean, I’d probably say Atkinson, Borrego, and then Adelman. All three can shape the Cavs for the future, but most importantly, we need coaches who players respect. Everyone knows Donovan Mitchell had an issue with J.B. Bickerstaff, and Marcus Morris Sr. even commented on how Bickerstaff lost the locker room. Finding that respect is the most important thing. Look at Golden State; they always say "strength in numbers," meaning they’re unselfish and care about wins. Part of that is because of Steve Kerr—they respect him and love him. He has a history that attracts players. What will attract Donovan Mitchell? There’s speculation about his last game with the Cavs. We need someone with high-level experience. The only reason we hired Beilein was because of Michigan, but we need someone with NBA-level experience. College doesn’t really translate. We need someone who can work with young talent and, most importantly, someone who excels at adjustments, rotations, and lineups. This was a huge struggle. I get that we were in a tough spot without Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, and Dean Wade for most of the Boston series, but adjustments are important. Every Cavs fan knows adjustments are crucial. I can’t stress that enough. This is a pivotal point for the franchise. When you fire Beilein and Bickerstaff, it’s time to get it going. The head coach will shape the team’s expectations, future, and culture. You can’t just fire them and move on. It’s got to be someone who can attract both backcourt members. Koby Altman has gotten a lot of criticism from Cleveland fans, including myself. One thing I disagree with is being so set on the backcourt of Garland and Mitchell. I don’t know if you can win a championship with those two. If your expectations aren’t a championship, why even play? Fans are hopeful and excited. As long as they can stay and help the team, I’m all for it. We need something that can attract everyone and make it a good culture. We have a lot of talent on this team. That’s all I’ve got to say, guys. I just wanted to give my quick thoughts. Thank you for tuning in. Hit the left for a playlist, the right for a video recommended for you, and the bottom to subscribe. Let’s go Cavs! Let’s get a good leader in here. You guys take care, and I’m out.

Breaking down the Cavs head coach search following JB Bickerstaff’s departure. I want to make sure I get the top candidates analyzed, which are Kenny Atkinson (former assistant for the Golden State Warriors), James Borrego (former head coach of Charlotte Hornets), and David Adelman (former assistant fr the Denver Nuggets),and I am talking and discussing their potential impact on Cavs’ future, team culture, and key players like Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland (Maybe our hero, King LeBron James, jkjk), but join me for an in-depth look at what’s next for the Cleveland Cavaliers! Again, I think the Cavs future is very bright with who we have, but at the end of the day, having a good head NBA coach is arguably the most important in basketball more than any other sport, so I am excited to see what they do!
