“Some elite reads made by Donovan Clingan from the top of the key and beyond. He’s excellent at identifying cutters. His main selling point in a Quin Snyder offense with Trae Young & Jalen Johnson. Not many guys over 7ft are making passes like this

ngl great vision and execution on these highlights

Good awareness but it’s not like he’s passing guys open, this is just UCONNs cut heavy system. It is still a positive that he’s able to do that quite comfortably

He really may be Warriors Bogut. Milwaukee, healthy, Bogut, was worthy of a top 5 pick. He went #1 overall for a reason. I’m not sure if the end of career Bogut was worth this high a pick

  3. I have officially transferred from Sarr FC ClingAnon.

Just feel like Clingan has a higher floor and makes us better the next 2 years. Don’t see a scenario where Sarr makes us better next year. In year one he isn’t an upgrade from JJ or Bey at PF and he wont be better than Capela or OO at center. Clingan will arguably be better than Capela was last year for us and Trae will create his offense for him.

Wish the Hawks actually had people moving off the ball like this 🫤

Another thing, we’d have to have a cut heavy system for this to become fully realized. We do not have one at the moment. A team with Trae Young will always be heavy PnR. He’s amazing at it, probably the best in the league, but it’s also incredibly predictable. I wish we could move away from that

This is a great video. I’ve really been warming up to Clingan lately. Obviously Joker is one of a kind, but Clingan looks a bit Joker-esque, he seems to be super sharp out there with crisp passes to set his teammates up for easy buckets. I’d be perfectly fine if we take him at #1, I think he’s worth it. My only concern with him is the history of foot injuries.

I can see why Quin likes him. Ever since Quin joined he’s got Clint/OO to be more active in passing.

Officially fine with either Clingan or Sarr. There’s things about both of them to be excited about.

If he can pass like that, how did he only average 1 AST a game on a team that won the national championship? Looks to me like a tactfully put together highlight reel when this isn’t actually how he plays. You could probably find this many passes from Capela last season.

Today there aren’t a lot of guys moving without the ball other the JJ in the half court, but imagine what it looks like when we have a real starting SG instead of a second (really good) PG cosplaying as a SG.

He also makes reads like this off offensive and defensive rebounds.

Now show him trying to come out of restricted zone and guard a drive or on perimeter…or run floor or shoot FT’s/outside 5ft.

The foot injury and conditioning are something but if it can be rectified, then do it. The final race seems to be between Sarr and Clingan at the moment. Just hope either one can deliver and mature into bonafide studs
