If you want a wing at 8, there’s no world where you pick Williams over holland, buzelis or even Salaun (my opinion).

God I really really hope not. I just don’t see it with Williams.
It feels like half the people who praise him and talk about him as a lottery. Pic clearly didn’t watch him. I see things thrown around about him being a good shooter, having a high basketball IQ, and being a good defender, etc etc. And he was none of these things, at least consistently, for Colorado this year
He’s historically. Never been a good shooter, has a really funky jumpshot, and took pretty much nothing but low volume. Extremely wide open. Catch and shoot jumpers this year on an extremely talented, experienced Colorado team. He can’t self-create, he can’t play. Make. His job this year was pretty much to run around, hope he can get some cuts and slashes for dunks, breakout in the open court again for dunks, and get ready in case Tristan desilva gets double-teamed and then try to just knock down wide open jumpers.
He was pretty atrocious as a man-to-man defender. This year. He had some little flashes as an off-ball defender but looked relatively lost. There’s a reason why when he started dealing with injuries that Colorado didn’t really skip a beat, and in fact often looked much better when he wasn’t playing or was on the bench.
I can’t imagine what his role would be on any team in the league this year. Right now. He just doesn’t have an NBA level skill. Most of his hype is based around people assuming he’s going to have a glow up like his brother, beef up like his brother, and learn to handle the ball like his brother, because his brother ” wasn’t this good at the same age” And I think that is terrible. Terrible scouting and prospect analysis.
Development isn’t linear. There’s no reason to believe Cody is going to be anything near his brother stylistically or an overall talent. And if the Spurs decide to use a top 10 pic on him, it is going to be a huge long-term development decision. And at that point, if we’re going to just draft someone who’s not going to be good at basketball and hope they figure it out, I’d rather go with Salune or matas Who are both better athletes than Williams At the very least And in the case of Salune doesn’t appear to have a hot and cold motor
In the end in a draft like this, it’s going to be hard for me to get too upset with whoever the Spurs draft. But Williams would be one of those few pics that if we took him at 8 I’d find myself pretty disappointed. I just don’t see the upside there and I think for him to become a 3ND player it’s still going to take around 2 or 3 years minimum.
But then again I don’t get paid to do this. I’m just a random dude on the internet. And if the Spurs think he’s the guy. I’m going to trust that they see something very different than what I see.
Cuz I just don’t see it with Williams at all

Just saw a similar article about the Pistons wanting to take him at 5… seems to me they’re trying to forcibly raise his draft stock

A billion draft picks are coming into focus. Tis the season.

Don’t love his build, don’t love his attitude, don’t love how much he disappears

Williams is my only do not touch, this draft was a loss caliber player.
