Scouting Report: Rob Dillingham’s fit with the Chicago Bulls? | CHGO Bulls Podcast

Rob Dillingham y’all let’s talk Dillingham so he is sliding a bit cuz I kept seeing dillingham’s name definitely in the top 10 sometimes in the top five he has slid in both the ringer and Bleacher Reports latest mock drafts that dropped over the past 24 hours they both have him going to the Chicago Bulls at 11: wow what do we think uh okay I like him let me say that uh when you’re a guy with that kind of size and that good defend defensely I like him I love the way he moves his feet on defense I love him uh in a one-on-one like when guards switch on him like that’s going to be a problem for them to try to put the ball on the floor and get to the bucket that’s that’s that’s going to be issue I I really like it but it’s not great defensive you know what I’m saying like he’s just not the greatest person defensively but I’d like the size presents a problem yes that’s what I mean like that’s I like that aspect of it you know what I mean I do I like that aspect but on a lot of them situ he’s going to get cooked fried in freaking seed that’s fine cuz that dude he really reminds me and I don’t know if you guys feel this way but he truly reminds me of like year one Kobe white like when I watch him play that’s who I think of a microwave kind of scorer uh who can kind of get his own shot once he gets you know kind of in the lane quick crossover can you know just pull it up pop it on you uh really you know great three-point percentage uh whether he creates it himself or whether he gets it off ball he really can shoot that thing man um it’s about his consistency because like I said he’s a microwave kind of guy so sometimes it takes a minute for him to get started but once he gets there he’s heating up and that’s awesome fun to watch um I think the teams will I was thinking of when I was watching him I was like he’s either going to be really he needs to go to a team where there’s no one else there or he needs to go where it’s already kind of solidified who’s in his front court so I thought the Spurs and I thought the Wizards like those were the teams I thought of for him um because I I need him to have the ball in his hands for him to be just incredibly effective and be you know the guard that I think that he is I don’t think he’s like a great facilitator or anything like that yeah he can pass it you know he gets down there he can do those kind of things but he’s just not that kind of like great facilitator but he is a solid playmaker you know he’s not going to you know hurt anything uh in that instance but again I know I talked about the defense and I liked it because that’s on those guards but that’s going to be issue for him cuz he did have tons and tons of lapses like and they’re very well documented in several college games lapses that he had where he left his player forgot oh man I still need to guard him even though I left him I thought somebody else was getting him yeah he had those kind of mental lapses in the game man but I overall though like it’s about putting the ball into the bucket that’s the game of the NBA and if he goes to a team like the Spurs yeah he go he goes te like the Spurs I think that’ be a great move for him his his defensive efficiencies won’t be uh on display as much cuz you’re playing with a guy like wimy but man the way he can cook and if he can get with uh pop and bring that other stuff out of him think you got a player so Dillingham uh Guard from Kentucky 61 without shoes 63 wingspan he measured uh 164 lbs at the combine so very small very slight but um after spending a year with OT he went to Kentucky and came off the bench there and just was electric as a scorer 26.6 five rebounds 6.8 assists and 1.8 steals per 75 possessions um super Dynamic scorer I think he is actually or he did improve a lot his facilitation but agree with you Dave that he’s primarily a Score first guard um so to me like he is probably the best scorer pure score in this draft he’s really Dynamic great off the bounce great shooter shot 44% from three um on a high volume almost 40% of his total attempts were from Beyond The Arc so just really electric score but at that size like I’ve been burned on smaller guards like that before Sharie Cooper being probably first and foremost uh just kind of learning your lesson there like I do have some concerns about whether he can survive at this level a lot of people liken him to a smaller Darius Garland who’s already really small um and was in some settings kind of played out of Cav’s playoff gam so I think there’s going to be questions with him um in my next mock draft which I will drop maybe later sometime this week or early next week is I have him going to the Utah Jazz right now and I think it’s for a similar reason that you suggested which is that like he needs to have the ball in his hands he needs to be able to kind of Run free with floor spacing with Rim rolling bigs with Rim protection behind him and I think that situation makes a lot of sense um with this draft being as kind of flat as it is I could see him going all the way up at number three or even two if the Wizards are like we love this guy but I could also see him falling out of the top 10 and I think that’s kind of what KOC wrote in his blurb for the ringer when he put him at the Bulls that like somebody’s got to drop in this and I think that could be K said somebody’s got to drop right why not Dillingham um Jonathan waserman of uh Bleacher Report went into a bit more detail on why he thinks Dillingham could be a candidate to slide saying the Pistons and Blazers seem unlikely to Target him based on their current back courts Hornets could be an option although they finished 29th in defense so if you’re maybe going to try and bulk up and beef up your defense a 61 guard ain’t going to do that League sources according to werman also believe the Spurs aren’t likely to draft Dillingham based on what they’re signaling to agents their heing teams prefer bigger positional prospects at number 11 meanwhile the Bulls may see too good of a byow opportunity on Dillingham who could either provide instant offense Off the Bench or insurance and depth in case of any tempting Zack deals interesting um so there is that and look Travis in the comments saying Dillingham should be under heavy consideration the Bulls need star potential Brazil saying I think jokingly Dilan will be a great small forward with the bulls referencing the Bulls Tennessee to play a bit more small fish saying he’s small but he can get Buckets he would be nice Off the Bench for Kobe so off the bench for Kobe versus could you pair him with Kobe if the Bulls do and find uh do in fact find a trade for Zack LaVine because that to me is something I would be concerned about if you’re talking about pairing him with Kobe white in your starting back court because then you’re talking about size problems you’re talking about defensive problems and the fact that they both are kind of Score first guards who aren’t necessarily great facilitators and and Playmakers I think you know Dillingham there there are questions about his fit with other smaller guards it it just depends on how you view the bull situation do you want to go for fit with Kobe white and think about how Kobe White’s fit matters with the future of your team or do you want to take the best talent available I think he has a chance to be one of the highest upside players in this draft so if he’s there at 11 you got to consider it uh do you feel kind of like me like as far as him being that off ball guy like he could still provide you know some real spark for your team I think he’s a good enough shooter where he could definitely be a threat obviously his ability to break down defenses get to the rim put pressure on on just getting to the paint I think is really valuable whether he has the ball in his hands or not uh the question really for me is like can he be off guard and still be able to defend because in a lot of scenarios like I mean Kobe was the smallest guy on the Bulls getting picked on at the end of every game and so when you put two guys like that on the court together there’s going to be questions about that and you want to have the ball in Kobe’s hands you want to have it in dear’s hands I think like this idea that like multiple guys can’t all share the ball is a little bit overblown um there are very few like Lucas in this league that have 40% usage rate anymore so I think he’s going to have to play off the ball in the NBA level whether it’s with the bulls or another team the question more is just for for me the defensive end um but like I talked with him at the combine for like 15 minutes he’s just like going on and on he’s super charismatic really funny telling stories like he like Ricky odonnell was there and he was um you know saying that he was impressed with the way that he evolved as a facilitator from his OT days to his uh Kentucky year and he was like thank you for noticing like he’s just such a like kind and charismatic and energetic guy I think he’s an awesome personality and I think he is kind of like built for success in that way he played that way in OT just like celebrating running around having fun um obviously was a little bit more kind of serious at the college level but he just seems like a great person um and I think he’s going to be successful it’s just like what happens at the highest level and I think when you’re drafting at the top of the draft you also have to be thinking about when you get to that point cuz that’s why you’re down there right you’re trying to collect talent to ultimately get to where the Celtics just got like what is that going to look like is he going to be able to play out there at the highest level and I think that’s it’s possible but it’s just to be [Music] determined like the May

  1. The enthusiasm and energy in this community are infectious, sparking inspiration in every participant.🌺

  2. There is going to be a few guys out of this draft that turn into big time stars. When they do every one is going to claim they saw it coming, but the truth is NOBODY can.

Not even the 2000 draft was this much of a crap shoot..

  3. I personally think the Bulls should unload everything they have into this draft class. Zach,AC,Vooch,Coby..the entire roster should be traded to get multiple picks in the 1-10 range.

Even if all the young players bust out thats fine as this roster needs to be completely gutted and no better excuse then going for it in the draft .
