NY Knicks Draft Rumors: Tyler Smith & Baylor Scheirman Workout For Knicks

with the 2024 NBA draft right around the corner the New York Knicks continue to work out prospects as they try to find the two picks that they want to make in the first round we’re going to break down Tyler Smith the athletic forward out of the g-league ignite and then Baylor shyan the oldest Prospect in the NBA draft a sharpshooter at a Craton we’ll dive into both those players but before we do I just want to hear from all the real ones out there I love going down in the comment section and reading your thoughts because I learn a lot from everybody that watches this channel name a player you want the Knicks to draft give me a name in the comment section and I’ll do some more scouting on that [Music] player welcome into New York Knicks Now by chat sports I am your host Marshall Green appreciate everybody for stopping by as we get you caught up with everything surrounding the New York Knicks we’re officially a week a week in a day eight days away from the 2024 NBA draft it’s crazy how fast of a transition it is the NBA Finals end yesterday and eight days later we’re right into the off season and the NBA draft is getting started as you know or if you don’t the New York Knicks do have three picks in this draft two in the first round one via their own draft selection as well as that Dallas Mavericks pick they have gotten the last piece of that christop porzingis trade and then they own a priority already pick in round two with the 38 selection and a lot of talk has been made of will the Knicks make their picks will they trade their picks will they try to move out of the draft entirely or move up in the 2024 draft to select someone maybe in the lottery and to be honest with you from the people I’ve talked to the things I’ve read I would be shocked if the New York Knicks leave the NBA Draft by making all three picks I think they are at minimum going to make one pick whether it’s in round one or round two not sure if they make three but I think the Knicks will select one player and an NBA draft prospect will hear their name and wear that orange and blue hat let’s start with Tyler Smith I like to call him more of a stretch big than a normal big he’s not going to be your Center in an ideal world he is a stretch four for you he’s just 19 years old played for the g-league ignite last year he’s out of Fort Worth Texas he’s 6’9 and 224 lbs so he has prototypical size for a guy that you’re trying to see develop into a stretch big in this league some of the overall thoughts on him a Scouting Report he’s a very explosive finisher whether in transition on putbacks or off alley oops when you go watch his tape this guy quite literally jumps off the screen he is a high flyer it could be off alley oops it could be as a rle man he can attack and transition and he can rise and throw it down with the better players in this class he has a really smooth jumper and maybe that’s just the Lefty effect when you see a guy left-handed shoot it a couple times you’re like this guy’s got a nice looking form and he actually shot pretty efficiently with the ignite but I do still think he’s got a ways to go to be considered an above average shooter in this league has plenty of time overall he’s a high energy player but needs to give more effort on the boards in defense I don’t want to call him out too much on his effort playing for the G League KN and the only reason you’re there is to up your draft stock maybe he’s looking out not trying to get hurt overall super athletic player can play Above the Rim and he’s got some upside on the defensive end as well Kevin oconor of the ringer in depth says J uh Josh or excuse me Tyler Smith is a smooth shooter with good foot footwork in a quick release making over 40% of his threes he’s more of a standstill threat at this point though he’s a potential versatile weapon in the Twan game he’s an effective roller catching lobs and occasion dunking over defenders and when you go watch the tape you see all of that come to fruition he played in 22 minutes per game last year for the G League ignite averaging just under 13 and a half points per game I think in his size and his athleticism he should be a better rebounder than he displayed just hauling in five boards per game I think that’s an area he can grow in this league not much of a table set Setter or a creator for others doesn’t really look to do that not really asked to but I like the offical efficiency that he had last year over 47% from the field and almost 37% from downtown some Combine results for him the guy we talked about it can jump through the roof almost a 40in vertical showed good quickness in that short shuttle he’s got length as well a 7 foot1 wingspan with an 8 fo9 in standing reach so just off sheer length he can be a guy if he learns how to use that verticality rule could protect the rim and then you put that on top of the fact that he could jump out of the gym he should be an elite shot Blocker in this league and I think that’s an area he could develop into some Advanced stats for him his true shooting percentage last year 61.2 solid effective field goal P percentage 54 a half pretty solid and he actually had a decently High usage rate for the ignite last year I don’t expect that number to be even close to that in the NBA but it showed you he could carry a large workload still just 19 years old some pros and cons hyper hyper athlete needs to be better off the bounce when looking to create a shot that will continue to develop as he does in the NBA his defensive potential I think is on the higher end of this draft class just because of length size and athleticism and I worry a little bit about his offensive ceiling I think he could be a guy that averages 13 14 15 points in this league just the way he goes about it is something I’m still trying to figure out I think he’s going to be best as a role man someone running in transition and being a high flyer on Aly oops and that’s why my Pro Comp for him Jay Smo Josh Smith is somewhat what I see in his game maybe it’s because he’s a lefty and he’s a long athletic high-flying big but I see a guy that’s got defensive upside can finish around the rim and someone that comes into this league at an extremely young age and could be someone that maybe knocks down that perimeter shot at a high clip young J smooth 2K Legend uh give me Josh Smith Vibes for Tyler Smith we’ll talk about Baylor Shan around the corner but I got to make sure everyone tuned in to Nicks now right now is going to tune in next Wednesday and Thursday when we are live for the 2024 NBA draft the draft is now a two-day event it’ll be Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon and we’re going to be live on this channel breaking down every single pick so subscribe turn the notifications on and I’ll see you next week from Tyler Smith to Baylor shyan and I’m not sure there’s a bigger ying and yang when you talk about comparing two draft prospects shyman is going to be the oldest player in the NBA draft he will be 24 upon opening night he’s 6’6 202 pounds and is where Smith was an athletic player has a lot of upside I think shyan is close to his ceiling he is a crafty scorer who can get a bucket from almost any spot on the floor when you first hear about shyan you think about a guy that’s just a catch and shoot player and that’s not really what he is he can handle he’s got a little step back to his game he can get to the rim can finish with either hand he is someone that I can see being an immediate threat from the outside of knocking down that uh open shot I also found that he was a much better rebounder than I anticipated considering his size under 6′ s he just got the fundamentals down he knows how to box out how to find a body and I think he reads the ball extremely well off the rim Allah Josh Hart he will likely be hunting on defense I don’t think he moves his feet well laterally and he’ll really struggle against top Wings just because he doesn’t have that extreme length or athleticism but you’re not drafting Baylor shyan to be a defensive stopper you’re drafting him so he could spread the floor and knock down that three ball for you and maybe be a little bit of a crafty score Off the Bench Kevin oconor of the ringer says this quote he’s a versatile shooter who can drain threes from Way Beyond The Arc using screens handoffs and movement within the flow of the offense he’s a capable ball handler who can attack Closeouts using the threat of his jumper with pump fakes to get into pull-ups and floaters he can also get all the way to the rim for touch finishes high off the glass and outside of the rebounding numbers for shyan what I found to be most interesting about his game is you hear about shyan and you probably already have your preconceived notions of the player he is but man he can get downhill he’s crafty he’s got a little a little juice in his game attacking the glass that’s someone that’s violently going to do it but watch your head cuz he might he has put a couple of people on posters knocked down 38% of his threes last year in 36.8 minutes per game that man did not come out of the game I’m sure Tom Tibido loves that he shot 39% from three on 900 plus attempts in his fiveyear college career if there’s one thing I had to bet on for shyan it’s that he’ll be able to knock down the long ball in the NBA kind of a tough comparison for me to find for shyan because I see Luke Canard in his game where he’s a shooter he can create for himself but shyman feels a little bit bigger on the court and I think he just rebounds the ball a little bit better some Nicks fans that have been Nicks fans for a while kind of remind me of ignas braz braz dakus a little bit if you remember him but I would like to pick I think he’s a bench scorer in this league and we think the Knicks are definitely going to add to this bench and they need to to create more of an offensive engine when Jaylen Brunson does sit down I like Tyler Smith and I like Baylor shyan but they’re not my dream draft picks for the New York Knicks and coming up later this week you’re tuning in this video a little bit of a sneak peek I’m going to do my perfect draft for the New York Knicks and right now if you stick at 24 and you stick at 25 if you can walk away with Tyler KCK and Ryan Dunn I’m gonna be a pretty happy guy I think kck’s going to be able to come in and contribute immediately be that backup point guard run the show set the table get the ball to players in open spots and just have a strangle hold on the pace I think K will be able to do that and Ryan Dunn he’s one of the best defensive prospects I’ve seen coming in the NBA for quite some time I worry about the offensive game is he just Andre Roberson or matis thel or can he slowly add Brick by Brick to that offensive game if he becomes even a below average below average three-point shooter in this league this guy’s going to have all NBA potential on the defensive side of the court and I wouldn’t rather have any defensive prospect learn more from ogn and Obi and Tibido these are my two dream prospects give me one for you name one player you want the Knicks to draft I got to do more film study let me know some people that may be sleepers in this draft class shout out to everybody that tuned into today’s video I greatly 1. Dunn is the prospect, if you're looking at anyone because they can shoot or dunk…you're a casual fan or just stupid. You want playing time you need to know how to play defense at the NBA level. They are not getting a point guard either, they have that guy overseas and he is better than anyone we can draft and he's not playing either. Defensive wings and bigs, there's no possible star to pick up in the draft.

  2. Terrence Shannon in 20s, 2/3 wing, can guard, havoc on passing lanes, athletic, fast, decent shooter and creator. Upside plus can be useful right away as bench piece

Ryan Dunn. DEFENCE. Shot not as broken as Thybulle or Roberson.

Jalen Bridges at 38 is a must. 3D wing with size and a shot. Criminally underrated senior.

Shannon Jr, Dunn, Bridges would be my draft. Also like Scheierman.

    Loving the channel Marshall.

  3. Tyler Smith sounds like a really good player who has the potential for some great upside, but his consistency is the only downside I see but being that he has defensive potential he would fit right in

  4. Tyler Smith is awesome. So old school, mid range slasher sort of deal. I think the Raptors might take him at 19, but otherwise absolutely worth it. Ryan Dunn would thrive under Thibs, they’d feed off of each other’s obsession for defense. Those would be the selections for me if they’re on the board. I like Jaylon Tyson from California, too. He’s a great scorer & shooter. I like Jalen Bridges, Dillon Jones & Daron Holmes too.

  5. Kolek will not be able to run an offense from Day 1. PG is the hardest position in basketball and we’ve never seen a rookie run an offense, even as a backup. Kolek is a fine prospect but he won’t contribute from day 1, no one does that except magic Johnson.

Dunn can’t pass, dribble, shoot, make free throws. It’s not like he just “can’t shoot 3s” – Dunn can’t shoot 2s. Idk if anyone actually watches college basketball but Dunn is Mitchell Robinson level skill offensively. U wana take a flyer at 38 meh , sure , there’s guys I like better. But 1st round for a 0 offense wing is a bad bad bad idea. You think Brunson has to work hard to score now? Oo man lol it’ll be worse.
